    I don't disagree with you that people should be more careful shopping online. But in their defense, convertmytv.com is listed on the official gov't coupon site as a valid online retailer, which might give one the impression that they're legit.

    However, Western Digital has zero control over how you generate electricity in your region. 10 watts saved is 10 watts saved, and the most efficient way to reduce the impact of power plants on the environment is to have fewer of them.

    I have *no* evidence of problems with this product, but given the security holes that have popped up with bulletin-board and blogging software over the past couple of years, this sort of DIY server with that many features bolted on would make me a little skittish about future security holes.

    Or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to be antisocial. :-)

    To put the prize money in perspective, automakers typically spend hundreds of millions developing a new car, and probably expect to gain more than 10 million in profits.

    That said, the X-Prize doesn't demand cool styling, bumper-to-bumper warranty, or a nice paint job, so the entrants could cut several corners in the design.

    In the USA, the Federal constitution always trumps the states' laws/constitution. Is that true of the EU, as well? I always thought compliance by individual countries (you know what I mean) was more voluntary.

    You're right - guns weren't designed 'solely to kill'. 'Solely to kill or incapacitate' may be more accurate. Better?

    When lawmakers propose a bill to allow "concealed crossbow" permits, then I'll take the threat of bows & arrows a little more seriously. Until then, have fun on the target range.

    A few years ago I did some work at a certain large electronic store's HQ, and it brought out the 10-year-old-boy in me whenever I passed the "POS lab", filled with all the variations of their POS systems.

    Are you serious? Well, you could start with the X-Wing Series, and move on to the bazillion other officially-sanctioned books written about the time after Ep6. The New Jedi Order series is also very good, and ought to keep you busy for a while. Oh, you were looking for something written by Lucas himself? Then you're in luck, because these are much better.

    Huh? Sounds like your Dad got a pretty good deal. He (and his employer) basically benefitted from the efforts of the union across the street, with no risk. But what would have happened had there been no union in either shop? An employer's concept of good pay/benefits can be substantially different from the employees'.

    Having watched my two boys assemble half a dozen new Lego sets since Christmas (Mars Mission & Aqua Raiders sets, IIRC), my first instinct was to agree with you. But after a few weeks, they're finding ways to build some very interesting custom space ships, towers - you name it. I'm sure that as they get older and no longer care about how much work it took to create the original designs, they'll have even fewer qualms about tearing them apart completely to build more new stuff.

    As someone who got stranded on the side of a busy highway last year with my wife and 2 kids because our Camry's coolant pump seized up, I can vouch that Japanese cars are not perfect. (nor are they cheap to repair - sheesh!) We're still quite happy with the car, though - very smooth and well-built.

    Just because a candidate is somewhat religious, doesn't mean that they will impose their beliefs on everyone else, or whore out their religion to gain power. That is the difference between Obama and Huckabee.
