I'm not affiliated with it, but I've found 3hive to be a great site. Every single day they post download links for a few tracks being offered for free by artists under small labels. The site seems to mainly do emo rock and punk, which frankly is either good or really bad, but it also covers other things ranging from electronica to hip hop to folk. It's just a damn good site and hopefully someone will find this link to it and enjoy it.
I actually remember going to classes with my headphone on, my techno pumping, and being the only person awake in lecture halls seating 300. Every teacher I had was at first offended and annoyed, and then understood after seeing me for a couple of classes. Having a lively but non-distracting beat kept my focused, and my music was quiet enough to hear what was being taught and not disturb anyone around me. I even had a couple of teachers point it out in particularly sleep-inducing classes as something other people should try after they saw how I could keep writing the notes as other people snored.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I can see how and why music in the classroom could be a bad thing. But it was the best thing to ever happen to my college education.
Every time I get a new boyfriend, it won't take long before he's asking if I'd be willing to try a threesome with "some hot bi-girl he just met".
And yet if some sheepish computer dork tried to ask you out, you'd call him a nice guy and say no way. If you go out with assholes, you get the asshole treatment. There's not a whole lot to figure out here.
And no, I'm not posting this as some sheepish computer dork who's afraid of women. I'm posting this as someone who's tired of people complaining about their lot in life when they create the situations. It's not too hard to find a guy who at least pretends to care about you, ya know. If every guy you go out with has the same problem, perhaps it's time to start looking at other types of guys?
Hey, just because you think it's funny doesn't mean other people won't find it offensive and rude. The trick is knowing which parties to tell your fart jokes at.
Here's a solution: charge developers a hefty fee for doing any of these patches. A very hefty fee. It'll still be cheaper and easier than a recall, but it won't encourage anyone to release a bajillion patches per game.
I don't know, I don't think using a staple of Holleywood soundtracks like Rammstein will really get people to spurt blood. A bit of KMFDM might make them leave, but a healthy dose of Mindless Self Indulgence would probably get some lawsuits. There's no such thing as bad press, right?
Really had to reach to find a compliment, didn't you?
Seriously, it took me 2 minutes to figure out what this headline was even talking about, and then I felt so let down by the complete pointlessness of what I was able to decipher that I'm actually thinking about getting back to work.
I guess there's a lesson to be learned in this, and that's if you don't want to lose your job don't screw up in a way that a billion people will notice.
Bugs happen. Big bugs happen. But developers are paid to make sure the big bugs stop at happen, and don't continue on to release.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this already. Personally, I think GMail is fine and dandy except that I want to use Mail to read and send, and can completely do without the web interface aside from road trips.
I checked out the PC Pop goes the Gmail to look for clues how they did it, but can't find anything useful. I've also tried using the httpmail plugin (designed for Hotmail and Mail), but am not sure how to configure it.
So, how about it? I hear they're planning on POP for some point in the future, but I want to start using GMail as my privacy account now!
Being intelligent does not count for very much, not unless you are actually prepared to do some work and learn something that is useful. Its like having the worlds fastest computer and no software.
This is completely off topic, but your anology launched a friend and I into a whole list of these.
"He has Maya and Photoshop, but he's using a PocketPC!" "His computer would be worshipped by geeks everywhere, but he has no internet connection!" "He has a fast computer with maya and photoshop, and everything else worthwhile installed. but he has shitty ram that core dumps quite often causing the computer to reboot, and he never takes the time to make a backup!"
Alright, fine, my buddy and I are graphics geeks. Just wanted to say thanks for getting us started, I'd mod you up if I could. Not quite sure why you're at +1 Troll right now.
No kidding. I have an iPod, I have a Mac, I love them both... but this has NOTHING AT ALL to do with Apple or the iPod! The mere fact that some noises are available in mp3 does no more to tie this story to the iPod than it does to any one of forty bazillion other mp3 players.
I can see it now... "Listen to the universe on your Rio Cali 128, Rio Cali 256, Rio Chiba 128, Rio Chiba 256, Rio Nitrus 128..."
I'm no MS fanboi, I love my Mac. But this has nothing to do with the quality of MS's support, the fact is that ANY company will want to have certified technicians doing repairs. Are they stopping someone like you from doing it? No, they just don't want to take responsibility for it in case someone like you screws up.
The advantage of having a company with certified technicians is that, while they're not perfect, if they fuck up the whole company is liable to try and get your computer working again, not just your friend's girlfriend's nephew who knows a lot about computers and plays CS a lot. It couldn't be worse than having that as the only option available for support.
On the plus side, it's MS approved support. The problem with hiring ANY programmer to dig around in your OS is that not EVERY programmer is competent enough to do it right.

If you don't like the way OS X looks, use a different theme. And as long as we're on the topic... [blatant plug] I have a theming site as well.
heheh... wish i had mod points.

(personally I thought your post was funny, too)
One question... how?

That's a funny thing to say in the context of this discussion. I know it's just a figure out speech, but you can't deny the irony.
Or Jay Leno without his chin.

Things like the wonky way it screws up nested p elements.
:: scratches head ::
Why in the world are you nesting paragraphs? I don't even know how to visualize a nested paragraph...

If all you can measure your life by are the accolades on your wall then you have led a very hollow life.
That's an ironic sig to have after that post.
The question is, do people think they're smart because they're smart, or smart because their mother thinks they are?
I have the pleasure of working with a lot of people who think they're god's gift to humanity. Quite frankly I wish I had the receipt.
What if you're looking at a hill?
To be a true Apple post it should look like this:
iN a not entirely surprising move

I pity your social company.
