There's a chance that he can turn around and sue me or the courts can rule that I'm somehow at fault because me shooting him in the leg means that I was not in danger. I end up being sent to jail for trying to preserve two lives whereas if I shot him in the head or chest I'd have a better chance at winning any legal cases that came up. I'm basing this on other court cases.

Apple is primarily a hardware company that totes their well integrated software that is optimized for their hardware to bate customers. If you're in the business of selling hardware you don't worry about making your bonus features compatible with what other companies produce. I know a while ago I had a Compaq that had some Compaq made software on it that would only run on a Compaq PC, it's the same idea. All prebuilt computers from major manufactures all have something proprietary about them, maybe not to the degree of Apple hardware but it's still there.
The company has to look out for themselves, if word got around that Mac OS X could be installed on any PC then people might try buying it for their PC. When they try to install this OS that has very specific hardware requirements and find out it doesn't work, Apple is then labeled the bad guy. Asking a hardware company to make their software support other people's products is kind of unreasonable. A lot of Apple software exists today because they had no choice, 3rd party developers didn't want to develop for the mac.
Apple isn't switching just for cheaper components, it's switching because currently Intel has the best solution for them to make better personal computers.
I like hardware freedom as much as you do, but when I buy a prebuilt machine (always a laptop) I go with the company that offers OS X because I don't want to have to put up with whatever surprises may pop up because of a hardware configuration that I had no control over. I may have little control over Apple's hardware configurations but at least I don't have to worry about the surprises part of it.

Here are some things you forgot to mention: 1) Showering more than once a day is harmful to your skin as and dermatologist would say. Good personal hygiene practices is dependent on the individual (some people perspire more than others and stuff). The fact that women are attracted to the smell of deodorant is downright funny. All that's necessary is that you keep yourself clean, there's no need to use all kinds of artificial crap that does more harm than good. Anyone who showers twice a day (excluding showering in the morning and coming back home from a dirty or physically active job) should be punched in the face for wasting water.
2) Self-confidence is attractive, or should I say a lack of self-confidence will drive someone nuts. This is correct. However some of this is bound to your personality, any woman who requires you to have an unreasonable amount of confidence to be attractive isn't worth it, she probably sucks more than you. There's no point in trying to force change for her because it's futile, she's trying to make you balance her faults out.
3) Complaining/Whining isn't attractive. Well, I've known some people who think it's cute sometimes. Either way, there's still a middle ground. Go ahead and act like it's easy to 'do something about it' but some things are just futile. For example, if your significant other is whining about how unsupportive and naggy you are then it's up to you to fix yourself. Or maybe some women would prefer a guy who simply doesn't talk about their gripes, I can assure you that silently taking shit will cause problems as well and it is a sign that you're a shitty girlfriend if you make your lover do that for the sake of being with you.
