Oh look. Another fool who thinks since there are airplanes, EVERYTHING must be possible! Let me guess: your computer is SO MUCH faster than the ones 40 years ago too. Therefore computers will be INFINITELY faster 50 years from now!

Yeah. It doesn't work that way. You just don't "get used to" the inner ear making you sick. Only the third path is possible, but it would require some sort of invasive surgery.

OK name one path. I'll wait.

  4. So what is the complaint here? That they used excessive material? If you cared, wouldn't you just go to the grocery store and pay a bit extra? Did you think shipping boxes of granola bars to a store to a Fedex store in a truck was environmentally friendly or something?

  5. Like: why did you order granola bars from Walmart and have it shipped to Fedex and THEN complain about the excessive packaging? If you are worried about the environment why not just to the local grocery?

  6. You ordered six small boxes of granola bars from Walmart and had it shipped via Fedex?

  7. ...turning it on again?

  8. What does a computer playing a game with a strict set of rules have to do with self-driving cars? Nothing. You are one of those AI nutters who thinks just because computers get more powerful every year it will continue indefinitely. After all, you had a C64 when you were a kid, and WOW, look at computers now! In 50 years they will be sentient, because...well...progress always happens, right?

Here is a shock: progress isn't inevitable. Digital computers are not going to get faster and faster indefinitely. Already we are seeing that processor speed is only marginally improving year over year.

Everyone who uses Facebook should be fined $4000.

  10. Yet for AI it has. What you guys are calling "AI" is not AI. We don't have robots that pick up trash off of streets now. We didn't have then 40 years ago, and we won't likely have them 40 years from now. Progress is not guaranteed although spoiled people think it is.

  11. We won't have self driving cars anytime soon anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  12. And each version will have a silly nickname associated with it.

I agree. I prefer to buy products based on the word of the manufacturer. And if the chef says the restaurant is good, well then by golly it is good enough for me!

100% correct. AI is just the new hype. That is why you see such ridiculous claims. There is no AI. And there no likely be AI.

Name one AI that is "here". It isn't AI. It is just programs. Computers aren't "learning". They are just running programs. That is all.

Yes. Everyone HAS been wrong since the 60s on AI. People have been bleating about AI since then, and we still don't have software that even works RELIABLY.

Playing chess isn't a sign of intelligence at all. It is a game with strict rules. Computers are EXCELLENT at things with strict rules and boundaries. It isn't AI. Neither is driving a car (and a computer can't do that very well either!)

There is no unique gift to becoming a cracker (these aren't "hackers"). It is just a willingness to perpetuate destructive behavior. It is very easy to crack software and systems, I use to do it all the time. It is much harder to create.
