Really, what is the point of this? Even if they had succeeded, it is not as if our Army would be in a frenzy to purchase these so their pilots can pedal their way to Iraq. I can see the point of the X-Prize competition, but this seems like reaching to me...
Haha wow. No, I have never been to Japan, but I can see the influence of Japanese games (since I import a lot) permeate our videogaming "culture." It always amazes me how games like DOA:BV, 0 Story, etc make it over here. I guess we do have some gems though such as Animal Crossing, Pikmin, etc. All I was trying to say is that this is a big step, but I would feel better if companies other than Aruze were at the helm.
Let's just hope they don't use this technology to make more banal mediocre games like Shadow Hearts for the PS2. Now there's a case of squandered potential...
Very well said. However, I think that we are in an age where techies have a great deal of disposable income, and would like nothing better than to own an Apple iPDA or an iCellPhone. Sexiness in design is becoming almost as important as functionality, and few take note of that as much as Apple. Also, the more they branch out into other sectors, the more computers (read: OSX copies) they will sell. I'd be interested to see how many people bought their first Apple computer after they got their iPods.
No shit right? I cant believe that Apple is staying out of the PDA/ handtop business so long. Think how much people would pay for a PDA that looked like an iPod.
Here's a funny thing:
You have to figure that the vast majority of people buying these are going to be the corporate types trying to replace their Blackberries with something even more functional. So why do most of these damn things have XP Home on them?!?!
I have a really tough time believing that these things remain at a bearable temperature. Laptops with these same processors can still get hot on the old lap. Does anyone have the Sony or know what sort of thermal protection these have? (if any) Might be a nice feature to have in a $2k gadget. Also, how quiet are these things?
This is a pretty pitiful ploy to get grade schoolers behind the BSA at an early age. Of course, for the next few years they will not want to piss off the organization that "let them name the animal!" and gave them all the pretty colorful pamphlets. Why not wait til kids can form a more educated opinion before we try to mentally rape them?
Ideally, yes, but most likely not. Marketing will make sure that the box will say "Powered by PS2 technology" all over it. Also, the chip is being put in there not to replace anything, but to add flashinees in menus, etc. Necessary? No. Something you will pay more for? YES.
So does this mean I can project video onto my girlfriend to make her look like Keira Knightley?:)
oh, and don't worry, I'm just kidding about having a girlfriend...
Well said. And I most certainly agree that this is a point of centention. I would think this might lead to lawsuits from phone companies such as Verizon whose customers are unwillingly being recorded. Thanks for the good point.
Steve
I understand the case that you are referring to, and that is not what I meant to call attention to. I was merely pointing out the instances where people DO have the time to read the ToS, and DO understand them, but simply do not like what they might imply. I agree with your point 100%, but it is a different case.
Hey I never said I read the ToS, but then when I find out they are not to my liking, I am gong without a paddle. They are there for us to read, even though I think companies make them so long to deter us. Venting on/. certainly increases awareness, but we really ought to be expecting terms like these. Especially when terror is making privacy optional.
Unfortunately, I think this is the case. Think about things we have seen thus far. People were more than willing to have spyware installed on their machine so long as they could have their precious Kazaa. I, for one, and willing to let Gmail scan my emails in exchange for 1GB storage and a superslick interface. It is all a series of tradeoffs in the end.
Sorry people, but no one is making you sign up for these services. Don't like that Gmail scans your inbox for advertising purposes? Don't bitch...just don't sign up. If it strikes a nerve with enough people that actually bother to read the ToS, then they will be forced to revise them. VoIP providers are no exception.
Seriously people, since when does U2 suck? Oh yeah, since they tried to make some money off of thier album. And for the people that think the p2p version would be a treat, it is unmastered, and as Bono gets older, the cigarettes sink into the vocal cords, and production helps the music sound a lot better. Have you ever listened to an early EP of your favorite group? With a few exceptions, shoddy production can make for a shit record, no matter how talented a group is.
Yes, I have worked many customer service jobs - in particular tech support on site and via email/phone at my college. I know the job sucks, but if you do not like the conditions, there is always other work. Especially in this time, you are PRIVILEGED to have work.
You are dead on with that. I wanted to say something about the representation of minorities, but I tried to be as subtle as possible. Way to hit the nail on the head, bro.
I do not think it is the case here...at least for Sprint PCS. Sprint surely has domestic support, but it is run by a lazy bunch of people that would rather mumble than speak articulately, rather make up answers than find out the truth, and generally don't give a shit since they are in a dead-end job. Sorry to be harsh, but its just my 2 cents.

Gotta fend off Darl and the rest of the SCO goons...

Doubt the sequel will be any better.
Let's have a race to see how many people can make the same joke in the first 100 posts!!!

Fits our agenda that we have a fucking drug for everything nowadays.

plus, you'd look REALLY cool on the train going to work!
