The problem with a 'rower' or 'hand cycle' is that the hands are our interface with the computer, so if you are using them to power it, how are you going to use the computer? It seems logical why they would choose a bike since it doesn't require your hands and probably is less intrusive for instance a nice slow cycle with medium resistance. The Gamerunner device is pretty much completely different, I see it more as an early immersion tool for virtual reality.
Only problem I would have is sitting on a bikeseat for hours a day while working, that would get old pretty fast.
Not to mention the potential for 'events' to be held, like you go to a record signing and you can wirelessly download the latest single from a booth and stuff like that, there could even be kiosks like for consoles where they have some 'new release' singles for download, you just need to stand near it for 2 mins while your Zune syns. Sounds pretty great if they get industry support and they think a little outside the box.
This whole thing seems to be a complete anti-sony beatup.
According to IGN:
Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that Sony plans to make GT HD available for the cost of the game disk and instruction manual. This suggests a retail price point of just a few dollars for the first PS3 Gran Turismo game.
To me this sounds like a great way for the game to work.
If goldfish were so smart surely they wouldn't get caught by those pathetic little brightly colored nets they use at fish shops they would dodge and hide in dark of the sunken castle.
Also, congratulations to these so called scientists for securing conclusivley inconclusive results and drawing rediculous conclusions on the strenth of supposition and assumption.
This could be great for those Real Life games, someone could write a homebrew GUI that gives people clues or whatever and they need to find different places, or like the RL Pac-man or assassination game. I think it would be great. GW
I know that in Australia (which counts for nothing) simply acting to defend your trademark is enough to keep it, if you allow people to utilise it and don't protect it you then run into a problem when you try to sue them for millions.
My verdict, if it had come out in 1998 people would be talking about Prey 2 Episode 1 not HL2 because this game looked amazing for its time and does things that are only now being done in NEW games, such a shame that it fell into dev hell and only just crawled out... The unfortunate truth being what would have been an amazing genre buster with completely novel gameplay is now run of the mill, thats what happens in 8 years.
In recent news a startling Sony press release has indicated that the PS3 will not in fact utilise mains power but will instead ship with a dedicated 180kw 6 cylinder diesel generator which will give mileage of a whopping 12mpg (Minutes-Play-Time per Gallon). Analysts predict that the production of the PSG (PlayStationGenerator) will take a toll on Sony's profitability in the first half of fiscal 06-07 and will have downward pressure on share prices.
In other news Microsoft have responded to allegations that the Xbox360 in fact runs on the imprisoned souls of ritually sacrificed children in a press conferance today saying that 'Microsoft at no time has employed the dark-arts to create it's products and that any negotiations with the Dark Prince of the Underworld have been of a purely strategic nature and that Microsoft does not endorce the ritual sacrifice of children or other persons, animals or otherwise'. Industry insiders have their doubts sighting the recent lack of sightings of Bill Gates first born, whome he and his wife named Damien, born on 6 June 1999, as possible evidence of dealings with demonic forces, this reporter will wait for more solid facts before making a judgement... More news at 11.
If Al, or Weird, or whatever he wants to be called didn't understand the contract there is no 'meeting of the minds', a requirement of contract law, at least in Australia and probably UK since most of our law is derived from ye olde english law. Basically Al could get out of the contract because his label failed to ensure he understood his rights and obligations before he agreed, basically you cannot agree to something if you don't understand it. That's why alot of business contracts take days to go through even after they have been negotiated to ensure the 'meeting of the minds' so that the contract is valid. There is probably a reasonable person test in there somewhere, I can't think atm but yeah, if he is getting shafted there may be a way out for him.

This is a problem at the moment with the lack of time between theatrical release and dvd release. DVD Producers just dont have time to make good dvds when the final content is due as the film is released. There was a recent interview on CHUD (here http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=interviews&id=6 261/) with Richard Taylor, the dvd producer for King Kong talking about the new 2 disc special edition. He talks about how difficult it is for the dvds to have any decent special features like commentary and production diaries when the director and crew are all so busy right up untill release that the dvd producer can't get the time of day before the final content for the dvd is due. What this leads to is more barebones dvd releases followed 6 or 12 months later by a special edition, and then sometimes again later.
Most people probably dont see this as a problem, but as someone who takes an interest in features and likes nothing more than watching a film I have enjoyed and listening to the director commentary to get a bit more out of the experiance, I'm worried that if the release date of dvd is pushed forward then there will be no features initially and that only some movies will get the special edition releases down the track.
Actually your cable bill is paying for the right to watch it, but the advertising that is shown during the show, and conveniently cut from the torrent, is how they pay for the show. Advertising makes the world go round.
And don't say you don't get affected by ads because you go into the kitchen to get a snack and don't watch them, Ive studied marketing, ads take into account that people will be out of the room by making ads louder, the channel helps by broadcasting shows at a lower level so that you have to turn your tv up, you can hear ads from you kitchen, they still get to you and have an affect. They are still worth marketing dollars, dollars which pay for your beloved show.
I would also like to second that BSG is a great show!
1. TV networks pay for television shows. 2. The network gets its money back from advertising. 3. If people circumvent the advertising then the networks won't be able to sell it for as much. 4. The networks will pay less for shows. 5. The shows will have a smaller budget. 6. Smaller shows will cease to exist, and today's large shows will grow smaller and smaller until they too cease to exist. 7. We will be left with a 24 hour news network and lame independant shows that are made in someone's garage and distributed over the internet, and by independant I mean at least until they're costs become prohibitavely expensive and first they advertise on their website, then they advertise on the show, then they do product placements, then they become a sponsored show, then they become like the paid advertisments of old. 8. Boooom, the earth cracks in two and we all fall into the mantle and burn like Anakin OMG SPOILER... Before you bitch about the great evil overlord MPAA, understand that you are indirectly funding a show by buying the products or services that are advertised during that program or by paying for your subscription (but that isn't enough to fund these big budget shows so they advertise on subscription television as well). No Money = No Show. Its business baby.
As far as size is concerned European car manufacturors have made cars smaller than the current Xbox, making it smaller is not much of an acheivement. More Power Vs Size is insignificant when the games don't play any better.
or maybe there is a british person working for MS??? and maybe it was a typo, i dunno about you but ive read alot of internal memos written in engrish let alone with an incosistency in spelling standards.

I really wish people would stop saying the PS3 is a failure before its even released. I'm no fanboy but I am getting sick of pre-emptive Sony bashing.
Not to mention the potential for 'events' to be held, like you go to a record signing and you can wirelessly download the latest single from a booth and stuff like that, there could even be kiosks like for consoles where they have some 'new release' singles for download, you just need to stand near it for 2 mins while your Zune syns. You obviously don't live in Australia. So, no, that describes pretty much every show.

Not really something to add, but I thought the type 'Microsoft Offce' was funny in this context, you know, or not...
