Sure a good programmer will learn any programming language very fast. The thing that takes time to learn is the compiler, and the standard libraries available with that language and compiler.
A good programmer knows his compiler inside out, that you can not necessarily pick up in a fortnight.
This just causes one problem. What if another developer chooses to improve the open-source version, then you can not use that improvement in your closed-source version as the developer has the copyright over the improvement code. And what if it was a bug-fix and not an improvement, would you then have to keep the bug in the closed-source version?
That used to be my words too, but I learned, that if you really try, you can keep that passion, even when it becomes your job.
It requires some failures, (two in my case.) But after some time you'll learn that love is something _you_ create, not something that comes out of the thin air. Don't expect it to be boring to work with, if you do, it for sure will be.

Actually, when I viewed the front page, this story was duped. Two completely identical stories, one only viewable for subscribers. After a refresh, it was gone.
I wonder if it was a glitch in the database, a humorous admin, or just the usual dupe getting caught.
It was created for the express purpose of turning out obedient little cogs to fit into the Industrial machine. They don't teach critical thinking because they understand as well as you probably do that a People who can think will be a Free People and this is the last thing they want.
They? Who are they? Don't you mean we. We create the society (including public schools,) as we want it to be. The purpose it was created for is one thing, the purpose we make it for, is another thing.
Saying that: "public education will never address the problem." Will never solve the problem. It's a way of thinking too many critical thinking people are falling for.
I say, let us discuss, and evaluate it. Let us do something about it, and change the way public schools are doing things, for the better.
...most of the time. So why not just use your cell phone. I do.
I tried the different calendar software, and syncing with my cell. Some worked somewhat, some didn't. But all was somewhat a mess, so why not just drop the computer.
Me too. I brought http://microsoft.com a long time ago, and was wondering when I would be able to use it for some fun with other than pre-idnfix-firefox users.
Any suggestions on what to put up?
I just watched that flash movie without sound. (I'm at work right now.) And it made absolutely no sense, jumping bears and mushrooms? somebody explain please?

It should be available again now. Apparently it got listed as a mirror on TFA, which my server wasn't quite ready for.
If you're going to to download this file:
Pick a number between 1 and 3 (inclusive). Hold it in your mind, you got one? Good. Substitute x in the following expression with you number:
1+x=2*x
If the expression is true, download the file from this mirror, if it's false, pick another mirror.

Does anybody know which project he's talking about? It sounds very interesting.
