Many works of the US Gov't, the CIA, etc. are in the public domain, whilst I am a big beleiver in the GPL, I think it would be fairer for Tax-funded software to be in public domain.
Granted, the GPL doesn't actually prohibit MegaCorp(TM) from using it, but most MegeCorp's business plans are not (yet) GPL-compatible. Although, maybe if this large body of Gov't GPL software was approaching ubiquity for whatever it does, this may encourage MCs to accept it.
Whilst it does sound rather conspiratorial, but I too have been suspicious since the Euro was introduced at ~$1, and what with the proposed EU constitution, I do feel we'r heading for a United States of Europe, with the USE residing firmly in the pocket of USA.
Now does anyone know where I can buy a Faraday passport holder?
"Obviously if the DMCA knows what you're trading then THEY are violating the DMCA because the only way they would know is if they somehow got on and broke encryption."
I presume you mean "if the RIAA/MPAA knows what you're trading"
No, MP is the measure of how many pixels are in the picture, not how many high t'is. Therefore:
1024 * 768 = 786,432 ~= 0.8 MP
1280 * 1028 ~= 1.3 MP
and so on/
Ahh yes, intelligent scissors...I personally use the eraser tool to make parts of layers transparent, as it has an "anti-erase" mode which is useful for tweaking edges or changing your mind about what you want cut out.
Knowing that I have convinced someone to try out GIMP has made my day, thank you.
What is your b3ta name? Any links to stuff you have on there or elsewheres?
Heck yeah! I am doing Art A-level at th moment, and I use The GIMP for everything, I switched from Corel Photo-Paint shortly before I switched from Win98 to GNU/Linux. I'v been using 2.0pre4 for a while and I love it! Can't wait to get home and d/l the release.
Take a look at my gallery, most of those were done in part or fully in The GIMP, this one only took me 5 minutes.
I cannot reccomend The GIMP highly enough, you will soon learn to love it.

Is this th work of th people who h4x0r'd GNOME.org, or did we just/. something big?
That aside, I have been using gimp 2.0pre4 for some time(and shall go to 2.0 as soon as gimp.org is back up), it is prettier and much more sane, whilst retaining all th GIMP-a-licious goodness of 1.2.x
I tried adding a trailing slash, worked once, then stopped. I tried taking out the "www." before "slashdot.org", worked a few times, then stopped. Looks like/. has its tinfoil hat firmly on against its users.
1. Some people will not use any proprietary on moral grounds
2. Nvidia does not use RPMs, they use shell-based installers for their drivers
3. I'd bet a lot of people know X as/more intimately than ATI programmersm I'd bet improvements could be made on that side...and what about th guy who released th unofficial driver?
I actually have that old AMIBIOS (with th cursor which always reminds me of a little pixelated sperm) on my PC-before-last, but for some reason all half-way recent AMI BIOSes hav th usual text-menu UI, alas. An anti-aliased BIOS? THAT is th kinda gimmick which would sell m-boards by th bloody-load. *drools*
Fairy nuff, perhaps I should have been more specific and said Software MCs. I figured that in context this didn't need clarifying.

In AD 2004, war was beginn...oh, never mind.
Thank you, I was finding the freecache mirror of it to be rather slow.
Ahh, maybe I meant tea...my bad.
...and it has always contained caffine, more than a cup o' coffee.

...anyone heard of FreeNet?
1. They were called Micro-Soft back in the day. 2. I have a fetish for over-using hyphens. 3. Count to 10 and breathe.
...we need to stop relying on thrid-party worms, we need Micro-Soft certified worms to ensure our securtity....
No, HD magnets are WAY stonger than those puny things, just don't get two stuck to-gether, or put them on your mum's fridge.
