Of course it's the responsibility of parents, but there are a lot of irresponsible parents. That's why we have to have laws saying you can't buy your kids beer and cigarettes. I mean that should be common sense, right?
I suppose you're cool with marketing cigarettes to kids too, right? I mean what ever happened to personal responsibility?
Kids don't have personal responsibility, they rely on their parents to help them learn to make smart choices. Obviously that system isn't working. What's your solution (besides berating parents on/. which is sure to work)?
You can rant every time a new law is passed about how we're legislating everything, that's just reactionary and not the least bit insightful unless you at least make an attempt to offer reasonable alternatives. The fact is some legislation is needed.
Why is it a stupid idea? It beats losing your power altogether, doesn't it? I imagine this would mostly affect people who are at work all day with the central air running full blast, the people who are home would just override it.
Not to mention, stealing is still against the law last I checked. I also imagine that not all poor people have big screen tv's they stole from working people who couldn't get a gun to protect their stuff because of liberals.
Totally man, I feel you. I could counter your anecdotal evidence with my own by telling you about the time I took my son to the emergency room around midnight one night because he couldn't stop vomiting. We got 10 minutes of a nurses time, ~3 minutes of doctor time, a saline IV and a single pill. We didn't leave until 7am, and a few weeks later I got a nice surprise when a $2200 bill showed up because his insurance had been suspended due to incomplete paperwork.
(for example, they use flash instead of silverlight, because flash is installed on so many machines, and do not try to promote silverlight on cost of their search engine).
haha you said nigger. woo hoo for you. tee hee its so shocking, it's like we're all sitting here going "oh no he dint" and you're like "oh yes I did, I said it, nigger". brilliant, original, edgy, shocking, way to buck society man.
Now I'm stuck with their DVR's, and they are very substandard. We used to think our batteries were dying in our remote controls, but it's just that these units are very underpowered and the response time is horrible.
The sales person never mentioned a contract, they screwed up installation, their customer service is horrible, their reputation is worse, but I could live with all of that. The deal breaker for me is exactly what you stated, their hardware is absolute crap and what should be a relaxing time in front of the tv is extremely aggravating to the point i'm almost ready to throw the remote at the wall.
They claim the dvr box I have is worth $600, yet I have a 10 year old pc in the closet that could run freakin tv guide program without a several second lag. Channel surfing doesn't exist anymore when it takes several seconds to change the channel, hell you can't even browse the guide without waiting between button pushes.
And who the hell designed this channel lineup with 200 channels of pay per view in between local and cable channels? Sure you can spend an hour hiding them all with a custom lineup, only to have it reset every time the channel lineup changes (which seems to be several times per week). They apparently don't like it when they can't have 200 pay channels in your face every time you turn on the tv, even if most of them are playing the same program or nothing at all.
And it's not just my box, this is my third one since they seem to suffer hard disk failures quite frequently.
Needless to say I'll be going back to cable this spring when my contract is up, and every time I feel like bitching about Comcast I'll remember DirecTV and tell myself it could be worse.
Eve and WoW are COMPLETELY different games, they're not even comparable.
However, I have been always annoyed at the seemingly extremely low number of simultaneous players that can play on a WoW realm. Even when the servers are full most of the zones are empty.
Uh, maybe because George Bush is white? Duh. Maybe I'm just not aware of the long standing racial stereotype of white men looking like apes (and with Bush it probably has more to do with his intellect than anything else).
Also the Michelle Obama picture is from stormfront.org, which probably didn't help matters much.
If you would have actually read the article you'd know he made it quite clear the errors in the examples he cited were avoidable, other than the hardware error in the Intel chip.
Wrong, pubes are gross.
because that would make sense

Thank goodness our lawmakers are tackling these important non-existent problems, and exploiting mentally ill people to make their case. I feel safer.
Are you gonna provide a link to all this outrage, or should we just take your word for it?
Show me a search engine that doesn't.
Yes, they are being charged with those laws...
Not to mention, stealing is still against the law last I checked. I also imagine that not all poor people have big screen tv's they stole from working people who couldn't get a gun to protect their stuff because of liberals.
I get my wine for $9/box, and it even comes with a spigot.
Correct, I live in the US, this happened in Minnesota.

You're right, I couldn't see anyone ever masturbating in front of a computer...

My thoughts exactly, what are they trying to argue, that 50% click through rate is bad? Come on that's phenomenal!

without a trial and essentially denied bail, I might add.
Surely that is worth a minimum of 15 months in prison...

Because Americans are all dumb. And fat.
People take their slashdot comments way too seriously. Mod me whatever, it means nothing and I'll move on.
