Once chips start being produced with multiple cores, I think software developers will utilize the technology and run with it. But for right now, they have no reason to pour work into something that isn't going to function or benefit the software. A waste of time, perhaps?
Businesses will want to migrate to Longhorn because of the fact that Microsoft will soon refuse to patch or release updates for dated products, such as Windows 2000...and by then, XP too.
Yeah, but as the article states, the servers were outsorced. Rather than a lesson over the importance of patching, I feel this is more a lesson of if you want something done right, do it yourself.
"And now with our included mirror, you can insure that your eye patch is correctly aligned so your other (music) pirate friends don't point and laugh!"
Argh!
Some people get excited over an awesome car, a sexy girl, but this guy gets a hardon from an active e-mail address... I guess we're all different... *shrug*
Is there a fix for this yet? Do we even know what is being exploited? Hopefully my NAT and ZoneAlarm will cover anything on my end.
The only way the MSBlaster worm was effective, though, is because people didn't patch their system. I understand that updating sucks, and we really shouldn't have this many updated to deal with, but it's the product you bought and the way things will remain, I imagine. People don't update their systems, as I was saying, and then Microsoft comes out and mentions something about automatic updating. To me, this is a horrible idea. I want to know what I'm patching or downloading before I do anything. This is my computer, I should know what's happening to it.
Although I hate to see the third party applications being blocked, I can see the view that Yahoo! and the others are taking. This is their service, meant to be used with their clients, in order to gain revenue through advertisements and whatnot. When those clients aren't being used, and the advertisements aren't rolling in the cash, they cut off the moochers.
I actually don't like Trillian and gAIM, mainly because of the lack of features for MSN that came out in Messenger 6. There's other reasons, I suppose. I might just give Trillian Pro 2.0 a try though.
In a related story, I personally declare that SCO owes me 2 billion dollars for wasting my time with dumb claims and falacys.
Flamebait? I'm afraid...:(
The Cordless Elite Duo (Cordless Elite Keyboard and MX700, both are very good products) runs $99.50 on the Logitech site. Cordless Elite Duo Product Link
Other than the fact that the cordless Mac keyboard is Bluetooth, why would it be so much higher? I can think of nothing.
It always seems that Apple is always just "catching up" and not making any new advancements in technology; doing enough to stay in the market. I use Apple computers at school, they're pretty decent, but I still think they are overpriced for what you get. If I were Steve Jobs, I'd move to the x86 (there were rumors about this a while back, I believe) and start from there. This could add more competition to Microsoft's operating system, and competition results in lower prices and new features/technology coming out.
But why not get the most out of the product that you buy? If you can install Linux on your X-Box, why not? If it doesn't harm anything, and might provide some new features, I'd do it in a heartbeat if I owned an X-Box.
It's not that I am slamming the X-Box platform, or Microsoft for their evil tactics, I just don't think that's fair. That could compare with Microsoft not allowing me to use Logitech input devices in Windows.
By the way, there was an article on Slashdot awhile back about Gentoo on the PS2.
(Slashdot Article)
That doesn't sound like a bad idea, be sure to throw in some pretty mods, too. A cold cathode light here, some stealthed watch buttons there, and the ever so lovely watch window on the back.;oj
Actually, it's spelled correctly.
Businesses will want to migrate to Longhorn because of the fact that Microsoft will soon refuse to patch or release updates for dated products, such as Windows 2000...and by then, XP too.
It's all about the money.

Interestingly enough, I found your (Score:5, Interesting modded) post interesting enough to comment on it.
As for the Kazakhstan cousine and your post, what was the basis for you being in the country?
And most importantly, did they have a McDonalds?
Still agonizingly slow. Oh well, I'll wait for a mirror.
Anyone?
I remember when l33t sp34k was underground. Damn you Webster.
That would be *Second Generation iPonies* my friend...
New and improved pony experience!
Also, an external backup solution doesn't make your stomach sink when you get a ding or scratch on the casing.
:(
I hate scratches.
I second that. Nicely compiled.

"good spam vs. bad spam" Hrm... Is there such a thing?

My two cents.

Irony? Yes, I think so.
