Businesses never stop yammering on about competition and worse, how it encourages progress. Business competition often does more to stifle new developments that come from, say, a university or an inventor's shed. It's the scholars, inventors and hackers who enable progress. It's Business that runs new ideas through marketing and management to turn what is potentially useful and interesting into a commodity or a gimmick. Thing is, often the only way to get your idea out there is by dealing with a competition oriented business who will market your idea and manage your benefits - all in the name of healthy competition, you understand.
I own a GameBoy, I own a phone. I have no need for them to be combined. This is the same reason I don't own a clock radio - I have as much need for being hassled by overly-eager DJs in the morning as I do for badly implemented games on the street. Why do people selling communication devices feel the need to include seemingly cheap (but actually bloody expensive) gimmicks? Oh, yeah - because dummies buy them. I, for one, am sick of being surrounded by people swapping ringtones and discussing piss-poor implementations of Invaders and Pacman. A mobile MAME box - now there's an idea! Or maybe I'll invest in a battery pack and mini-tv for my ZX Spectrum. Real games in those days... When I were a lad all this were just fields... Lara Croft? Bah!... new fangled... Dig Dug any day... blimmin' Grand Theft Auto? In my day we just stole the cars for laughs...
While the cME isn't directly a part of Microsoft's Next-Generation Secure Computing Base (NGSCB), known previously as Palladium, Eades said the technology is "complementary"
*cough* bullshit *cough*
They can keep changing the name but we know who's directing this technology.
With my ogg vorbis settings I *might* get 2 albums on it. Short albums. Far too little storage to be practical. This is immaterial, however, as I rarely leave the house other than for work therefore I have no use for a portable player:)
A fine sentiment, but what about not listening to their shit at all? I gave up buying major label/overtly commercial music a long, long time ago. My record collection is far more ecelectic & interesting and has a greater collection of talented musicians (as opposed to whores) within as a result.

Erm, guns aren't tools, they're weapons. They serve a single purpose and it's not all that helpful.
Something to keep in mind.

You may have completed the material but that doesn't mean you can stick 'MIT degree!!' on your Curriculum Vitae. I'm reading Laboratory in Software Engineering myself, but only because it's interesting - it will probably prove of little benefit in the marketplace. Still, an excellent initiative - while other universities are milking every cent they can MIT are actually promoting an interest in learning and sharing of information. Excellent stuff.
"Mr Jobs sir, a Mr. Michael Jackson of Apple Records is on the line."
"Oh, shit! I forgot all about them!"

Rainbow Brite was a SHE?! You mean I'm not gay? This is confusing...
I use a P/90, PIII/700, a ZX Spectrum, PS2, CBM Amiga and a few other machines (+ emulators!) for gaming. Why limit yourself :)

I bought my brother a Cray X1 to play minesweeper. No biggie.
I mean, it must do at least 36,000,000 hentai a second.

Looks like the article was written by a 12 year old. I swear I've seen this kid hassling me for warez on IRC.
"Initial customer feedback from the entertainment industry in general has been very favorable," Eades added
Guess what, dickpump. They're not your customers - we are!

I reckon we can use this system to help Microsoft and AOL track those unsolicited forwards to maximise their donations to sick infants...

Perhaps I should have RTFA. You know this could be the reason for my terrible karma :)
Oh, well - time to try and climb out.
Could be good for AI applications.

Ham radio enthusiasts using Linux could give the impression that it's some sort of marginal, nerd OS and that couldn't be further from the truth.
