There's plenty of bugs. In 8.1 Ive just had Windows Module Installer eating 45% of CPU on my laptop until Ive killed it. Lucky a laptop fan is a good indicator of CPU usage - I probably wouldnt have noticed otherwise.
You know what would have been a good candidate for LTS? 4! Not necessarily the release itself but the number. The numbers are arbitrary so just make them the lts releases. Rather than 4.1 or 4.13 or 5.9..
When they first strung fibre optic lines across Australia, they had issues because wombats liked the taste of the cladding - and would happily dig up kilometers of cable at a time to eat it. Our CSIRO had to develop wombat unfriendly fibre optic cladding.
I bought my Nexus4 specifically as it is NOT tied to a carrier.
So did many others, and it doesnt matter. As Telstra Australia users have found, if you have their sim in the phone, Telstra restricts the updates - even though the phone wasnt bought through Telstra. Want the update? Simple drop another carrier's sim in the phone (who isnt restricting it - ie any other Australian carrier), and the update is instantly available. Update - return back to your Telstra sim. (I believe Telstra has started rolling out the update recently however.)
Now, granted, that's rotary-wing, and it's another division, but... trust me on this, guys, the electrical system was seriously lacking. Cartridge fuses, for one. Say the hydraulics go out. You have to unscrew the fuse holder, find a replacement on this little holder in the footwell (there's one on either side, a bit lower than the knee), make sure it's the right one, and screw it back in. God help you if it's a real emergency and you don't have time to do all that.
It still makes sense. In an AS350, and hydraulics fails in a single pilot situation (almost all of them except for training given the aircraft), you don't have the time or the available hands to do any diagnosis. You'll be hands full on the controls, landing and diagnosing on the ground. Their engineering decisions were based to match the aircraft and the operations at the time. Its a reasonably old airframe now but still more capable than anything their opposition offer.
Furthermore, its not a real AS350 unless you have the original French engine and the pleasures of having to deal with Turbomeca.
Some people think reducing CO2 emissions will somehow make the world cleaner, but it won't. If not for AGW, there's no real urgency to reduce CO2 emissions, it's not a pollutant.
Except for Ocean Acidification. We are already starting to hit the turning point where hard shelled marine creatures are unable to form their shells because of acidification. Visible effects are starting to be seen in the Antarctic - pteropods are now starting to become unviable due to the cold water amplifying the effects of acidification. These little snails are a key food source in the ecosystem, if their population collapses, it will wreck untold damage on the marine ecosystem.
So yes, there still is an urgency to reduce CO2 emissions, and yes, it is a pollutant.
Translation: Please stop being unreasonable. I do not believe the lies that you are telling. Pissed can mean angry, drunk, annoyed etc. You sound more like an Englishman.
I am Australian, because last weekend I had an outdoor grill, where I remembered to bring the insect repellent. Mosquitos are an issue for most parts of Australia in summer.
If you do not understand what I am saying, then I place a nasty curse on you. (Your chickens turn into large Australians birds (like ostriches) and kick down your outside toilet.)
Some Comedians (The Chasers) in Australia booked and checked in online for a flight using the names Mr Terry Wrist and Mr Al Queda. When they didnt show for their flights, the calls across the terminal were pretty comical. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FkYPV7Iwu4
Thanks to our privatized system we generally pay up to 30 cents per kwh. 50 per cent of that goes to network charges and a significant amount towards wholesale and retail profits. Wind has been bringing down the wholesale price significantly - to the point that the coal industry has seriously kicked their political machines into gear to get renewables stomped on.
800 hundred coppers involved in an operation that arrested one person for a phone call made months ago - and found one more with an unlicensed weapon.
If they weren't trying to prop up a government failing in the polls and gain their own extra powers - they could have done this with two coppers and not sensationalised the issue.
Seriously - the new laws due to be voted next week give asio the power to torture with impunity. Obviously they were jealous of the cia.
I am a big fan of the show, but Ive stopped watching it because of the modern style of production - geared to those who have ADHD. Modern shows now lead the viewers into the direction of the show... So, you have a few minutes of introduction, then a quick preview of whats coming up, then an ad break. Then after the ad break, they show you what you saw earlier, a quick little update, and then another flash forward to what you'll see coming up. Repeat repeat repeat. With ads, it drives me mad. Without ads, its even worse. 10 minutes of real content gets padded out to a full 45 minute episode. So Ive quit watching - which is a pity, because the small bits of content embedded in the forward flashes and back flashes is usually quite good.
Confirmed. Much of the Oil and Gas industry software now runs on QT. Except for the old legacy cruft. And there's plenty of that. Here's looking at you Z-map.
My biggest issue, that no-one so far has mentioned? Press start, type in Putty. Hit enter or click on the search tile. Putty starts. Connect to my machine, no problems. Want to open another connection? Repeat the process. Nope, the start menu wont open two copies of putty, it simply takes you to the running copy. The fix is to change registry keys... WTF? why isnt there a real option to definite this behaviour?
I only noticed it recently, because the update to 8.1 killed my Classic Start menu install, and I thought I try the Windows Start menu.
Yes - its been exploited to. I admin a site - and we were hit quite hard by this. Im amazed that its taken this long for the exploit to be acknowledged.
Unfortunately Not quite true. We've fought the MS bandwagon for many years - standardized on Thunderbird and Open Office - however calendars with Lightning and Caldav have just never worked reliable. It appears to work - however it does not scale to reasonable workloads. It does not take too many calendars with a few entries to start causing pauses and issues in thunderbird. Further to this, the simple features are just missing. Setting calendar permissions? Ligntning doesnt support it - even though caldav does. Finding available calendars on the server - not supported - even though its supported by almost all Android phones via caldav. Also there are serious issues with invites, issues with resources - no good meeting scheduler. Furthermore - tasks are missing some quite simple features - so much so, that most of my staff found them unusable, and either use another tasking program, or use appointments as tasks instead.
We tried very very very hard to like Thunderbird with Ligntning. Thunderbird and a good IMAP server is excellent (we like cyrus - with multiple servers around the globe) - however the calendars jsut arent up to it. Office 365 - well, the mail is no where as good as what we had, however, calendaring and tasks work (90% of the time in typical MS fashion.)
Its an even bigger issue here known as 457 visas. Even the government knows they are being widely abused however the opposition likes the status quo. Supposedly its only for job types that people are in short supply how ever almost every job you can think of is on the 457 pre approved list.
Some of these new metro apps are pretty cool. However, on my 27 inch monitor, the full screen really annoys me. What I wish, is that I could size them, and put them where I want! You could put them in a box, I could drag them around the screen. I dont know, you could call them 'windows' or something.
For my use case, windows 8 is a complete waste of time. The metro interface just gets in the way. In standard form the new start screen is slower and takes more time to use. 2 Common use cases for me: Windows: Aim to the Start Button Click, slight move to programs, click on program. Windows 8: Move down to the left corner wait for the start to appear and click. Now move the mouse to the app I want which could be the whole way across my 27 inch screen, and click on program. Or worst case, move to the far right of the screen to scroll the screen across, and then move up to the program to click on it. On my monitor, that can be alot of mouse movement just to run one program.
Windows: Hit start, type calc. Hit enter. Very quick. (unless something cpu heavy is running - may take a while to appear) Windows 8: Hits start, type calc. hit enter. This is noticeably slower. The search list takes much more time to populate.
Windows 8 without a start screen replacement for me is terrible. Windows 8 with a start screen replacement offers nothing more than windows 7. It feels a little snappier but that's it. Running windows 8 for while now, and I just don't use metro mode at all. As I opened with, If I could window some of the apps, Id possibly use them, but without that, there's no point.
Second level support here. It means the Radiation Beam has been erroneously set to full power.
(Unfortunately if you think this is a joke, google the Therac 25 accident. This should be compulsory study for all programmers and software engineers.)

Agh! Posting to undo incorrect moderation! Now who looks like the idiot!

I'll just leave this here... DHL in practice.
We already know how the current companies perform. And its generally not great.
South Australia - AUD$0.32 per kwh. USD$0.24
The Swiss watch will still perform its function in 10 years time. It will still perform its function in 100 years time.
Can you say that about the Apple Watch?
They eventually plan for the Falcon 9 to refuel on the barge and then fly back to the launch pad. Have rocket, will fly it.
My signature covers this one.
