Nice troll, btw.
Anyway, censorship is a Bad Thing. When I look at news.google I am usually looking for multiple views about a news topic. I value confilicting reports as it adds information that I trust myself to compare and evaluate. I'd rather think for myself than have Yahoo or anyone else do it for me.
When automobile (think: tanks) were introduced during world war I to the battle field, they were highly impractical and were considered an imparement rather that as a tacticle avantage.
Yeah, but you'll still have to have someone to fix the massive auto-pickers, since it is inevitable that it will break down eventualy.
Same thing in IT. Hard drives will fail, people will fail to understand that their computer won't turn on because the power cord isn't plugged in.
There is a bit of difference in distributing pornography in schools and how the Chinese control their media. On one hand, you have a government restricting the flow of information of basic journalism. As such they stagnant their idea pool to a certain extent.
We Americans are too busy watching out for boobies on TV that might offend our tender sensibilities, we don't have time to worry about things that don't matter like elections. God wanted Bush in office, and that's the way it's going to be.
No star wars or LOTR?! What the fuck are you reading slashdot for ANYWAY!? You MUST know who shot first in the latest release, and you MUST be PISSED about it! Turn in your geek card, you sad pathetic excuse for a nerd.
Should he recieve punishment for editing a collection of links to information that other people wrote? In my opinion, and most sane people's I would think, would be No.
To say that he should recieve punishment for an action like that would be to say that the all librarians and bookstores should be shut down because they give people access to Mein Kampf or The Satanic Verses.
Um, no, I don't think it's ok he was thrown in jail. I don't believe I made any such argument... simplying pointing out that unixmaster is using an appeal to emotion to cloud the issue at hand.
That is because there is no correlation. Unixmaster is suffering from some sort of delusion that it's semantic opinion matters in some way. It doesn't.
I could call the PKK the "Cookies Who Hate Milk Organazation." If I got enough people to agree with me, it might become the de facto way to refer to their organization. However, just because I like to call them cookies and say that they hate milk does not make them cookies nor does it mean they hate milk.
That's a good way to get fired, seeing as how most of the problem pages will either A) be against the AUP (porn, etc) or B) Illegal (certain porn, warez, etc).
Exploding head fxs are physical, though. I remember reading how they were done in Fangoria years ago... All it really is is a plaster model of the head of an actor, filled with whatever you can think of for brain/blood matter. Then throw in a couple squibs in the middle and SPLAT!
I don't know how well "I'm going to monitor your online activities" would work.
I know that the way it would have worked for _ME_ as a teenager is that I would have learned how to encrypt my communications. You want to monitor me? Break out the beowulf.

You know what, I'm sick of pirates. Actual sea pirates. I think we should ship all ocean water in the sea to Mars. Oh wait...

On the other hand, hot grits.
Why do you need so many file formats? What's wrong with picking one (let's say mp3 since it's pretty well supported across the board) format?

Some poor old grandmother is going to read that, type in the url, and end up seeing goatse. Way to go!

A Terrorist Organisation is a Worker Party. Why don't you Turks come and arrest me, bitches.
It would get out that NORWEIGIAN RAPPERS were making threats about George W. Bush? I didn't even know there were Norweigian rappers until this thread!

Or, they could just disappear you. No worries in re: to jurisdiction then.
WordPerfect?! I use EDLIN and I like it!
No one owns it currently. Wait until the space wars start and in a couple centuries we'll have an answer to #1.
Yes, we've all seen Demolition Man.

I emailed Jerry Falwell almost exactly the same thing. He didn't reply. I bet he told Jesus on me...

1 in 3 odds the next story has something to do with Java.
