Does this mark the beginning of the end for SOAP or for ubiquitous middleware in general?
Does this mean google has turned evil? Is Bob your uncle? Will we ever see the day when a slashdot submission doesn't include an "interesting" question by the submitter?
These questions - and many others - will be answered in the next episode of Soap.
However, I would imagine, that the companies manufacturing the bill-readers are not limited to selling their equipment in the US, and I don't believe they would make custom parts, that are too different from the rest of their standard products, for each country.
I can, of course, only speculate, but I would think replacing the reader with one that is able to handle differently sized bills is a pretty simple opreation.
There is more to life than money. Even if the government confiscates a large portion of your income, you're still guaranteed to live a very comfortable, productive, and enjoyable lifestyle.
I don't disagree, I just wouldn't call it confiscation - the money goes back to the community, and ensures everyone has equal access to health care, education, and so on and so forth.
I happen to like that (living in Denmark, which has a social structure that pretty much resembles the swedish, coming from a low-income family, but still being able to choose the education I wanted, without ever worrying whether my family would be able to aford it).
What about one's ability to hunt and kill an animal and prepare it for food? This is basic stuff, but most everybody on the higher end of the "IQ" scale would not know how to do this. In fact, I would guess there is an inverse relationship between "IQ" and one's ability to do a basic survival technique like getting something to eat.
I would guess that one's ability to do a basic survival technique, like getting something to eat, would correlate highly with the quality and time spent training in this area. And considering that those with higher IQs are faster at learning, I'd guess those with high IQs would be better at providing for themselves (in a situation where everybody had the same training).
Yup. Recently a woman joined our (till then, all male) development team, and instantly people started being nicer to each other - also, overall work productivity went up 20%...
Oh, the guy who originaly had the theory, of, what was it, a couple of hundred "intelligences", which he boiled down to 13, then to 7 (not eight), then totaly dismissed himself, but eventualy returned to, when the money started pouring in?
To be honest, I don't give him too much credit, especialy since the theory is based on... no scientific evidence at all (and as such isn't a scientific theory as all).
I agree with a lot of what you are saying (mostly that my original post is overrated - it was just my initial thought:-))
I follow what you are saying about my comparison, but I'm not sure I wholeheartedly agree that you cannot compare the two things.
In both cases we are talking about illegal websites, and the phishing sites are a big problem; I understand that some might find the wares-sites an extremely Bad Thing - but those sites are not about stealing from regular people; they might cost some big companies a bit of money (*might* - I'm not too sure of that, but that's another discussion), whereas the phishing sites *are* about exactly that.
When you've gone looking for illegal sites, take down the ones that hurt people, don't spend the money on wares-sites - it won't help business anyways. Now, that's just my thoughts - and I'm not trying to push my own agenda here; I *do* pay for my gaming experience:-)

No worries - vending machines do exist in other countries too, even here i Europe with our differently sized notes.
Don't you dare disregard my beliefs. Indeed the world *was* created 5 minutes ago by a spaghetti monster!!!!!
I user Gmail.
I have chosen to make my email readily available for the users of my pages - and I get huge amounts of spam, but Gmail catches almost all of it.
Pseudoscience kills. Do not spread it.

And even though it may not be possible, these guys made 1.3 million pounds: http://www.engadget.com/2004/03/23/using-cellphone s-to-cheat-at-roulette/
Not at all - I just happen to be in one of those places where (almost) all Taco Bell references were changed to Pizza Hut.
Don't you mean... Pizza Hut?
And why is this modded as Funny?!? We're serious! Give us back our Firefly!!!
This was at a night club, not a strip club.
Darned geeks... always thinking of naked girls...
Feel good that they're taking a bite out of microsoft.
Feel bad that you feel good about something bad happening to someone (even though they are bad (and good at it)).
I was quite confused there for a moment... An East German Dance Pad?!?
But believing there is no scientific value in going to the moon doesn't really justify a ban, there must have been more to it, or..?
You don't care if the store saves 45 cents?
Where do you figure the store is going to get the 45 cents? In the end you are paying.
...does it run Windows?
In Denmark it's around 7 US$ right now - and, just as in the UK, most of it is tax...

...wouldn't the money be for these operations have been better spend closing down phishing sites?
I'm just thinking it would be better going after the real criminals.
