We simply popped off the "m" and the "n" keys and switched them, without remapping. He was not the most tech-savvy, and typed using his two index fingers.

Turns out he has a web demo to perform, and trying to log in with credentials "techmology"... The long and the short of it, the joke never got old, and we frequently spoke in his presence as "Good day, gentlenem. Lumch plams?"

He also got mad at his keyboard, figured what's what, and used a pencil to pop the keys off. Jammed it in there real good. Broke the laptop keyboard. Blamed it on us. Then a couple of weeks later we all go out for lunch to meet another of his friends. He (the sales guy) gets so animated in describing the funny prank that he forgets we're right beside him, and says how he just jammed the pencil in there and broke the keyboard. Then with a dumb grin on his face, stops at 3/4 of the sentence and looks at us. It was priceless!

Needless to say, we were all good friends and had a good laugh about it.

This would rule out the possibility that USA is using this to demonstrate their powers to shoot down ANY satellite. That's false.

You got me thinking. The biggest difference that I can identify is the removal (or perhaps reduction) of threat to the US from the former Soviet Union.

However, is the world really a much safer place? How do we measure safety, by life expetancy? The threat of global annihilation? Do we consider it to be safer when nuclear threat is reduced? How about atrocities in places like Kenya, Darfur, Rwanda, and so on... Or the epidemic of AIDS in countries where a large percentage of the population does not reach 40.

I live in Canada, and while it's a safe place to be, I am not so sure that the world as a whole has become a safer place. The threat to one's life has taken many different shapes.

Is data going to cost more? Again, will there be something different in the way this iPhone sends/receives data for such things as mobile internet? If not, why does it need special pricing?

Perhaps Novell thought that this deal will attract any Linux migrator to them, as in "I guess if these guys partner with MS, their products must clearly interoperate with Windows, not like other untrusted types aka RedHat."

My friend has a mobile phone service from the US but lives in Canada for about a year now. She has LOTS of long distance voice and data included for roughly $60 USD - no roaming charges. Similar plan from Rogers, most cost-effective? About $300.

Canada sucks, because the big 3 mobile telcos have an oligopoly that nobody cares to regulate.

If we EVER get an unlimited plan, it will be in the neighbourhood of $150+ for voice only. Data? SMS? I'm sure it'll be over $200. Unless companies like Solo Mobile or Virgin, the small guys, start offering some competitive plans.

Honestly, what is the point of saying you don't get any more daylight? It's obvious, and elementary.

What DST does is it forces everyone to move up by 1 hour.

Why don't you just exercise in the morning and leave everyone else out of this?

I enjoy my evenings, as do many of the "everyone else" that you speak of. Having extra daylight in the DST hours is quite nice, and I'm sure has therapeutic effects. It is also part of the reason why students in post-secondary institutions enjoy reading week in February, a time of higher suicide rates among students correlated with dark winter hours, short daylight, and workload.
