Funny that you've mentioned 100% feudal states like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as shining examples of new democracy.
Still this is not an OS fault?
Funny, but I'm sure - if Flash would run faster on Mac OS X, Apple fans would instantly claim superiority of their platform. I love that hypocrisy.
Apple could just press the Adobe to open the Flash Player source if they want to improve the situation. They've chosen a path of hiding their head in the sand instead.
Yes, Canonical contributes much less lines of code. But any time you see someone asking for "the best Linux distro for starters" on any forum, you know what 80% of people suggest. Canonical brings newcomers to Linux, they helped a lot by bringing new users => new potential customers for RH and many others - those who make money from desktop Linux. Even if they do nothing but create media buzz and attract new converts, they already do a lot to the Linux ecosystem. Marketing means a lot - regardless of what beard-necks think about that. But still marketing isn't the only thing Canonical does - as others already mentioned.
...There is a problem with the law, not with everyone. Laws where supposed to keep some social contracts working - like not running around killing everyone, paying taxes to support commons etc. When everyone is breaking the law - that means that the law does not reflect current situation in a society. Either this - or you have a tyranny where the minority dictates everyone what to do.
Anyone that wants to sell in the US has to abide US law.
"Selling to US" (or any other country) becomes a moot term once you realize you don't need a territorial presence in a said country in order to sell something to its residents anymore. If, for example, Russian government wouldn't bend that easily in a case of allofmp3.com (most probably due to some big bribe), this site, perfectly legal in Russia, would still sell music to US, Europe and other citizens, despite of never having a local presence anywhere outside of Russia.
Gaming companies start realizing that it probably makes sense finding *your* market, sticking to it, keeping your customers happy and loyal - instead of that childish "we make kewl product with tons of features and everyone buys it!" attitude? What's next? Realizing that draconian DRM contradicts with this idea and getting rid of it? I can't believe it, this can't be true!
All failed Soyuz flights have happened more than 30 years ago, due to some bad design mistakes that were corrected, and there were no human casualties since then. OTOH Shuttles still tend to blow up and take all those 5+ crews with them even in 21st century.
Just stop spreading bullshit. I've got relatives there. The country is still piss poor - no wonder its citizens still go to Russia to get a job and send money home.
Dr. Evil: Gentlemen, it has come to my attention that a breakaway Russian Republic called Kreplachistan will be transferring a nuclear warhead to the United Nations in a few days. Here's the plan. We get the warhead and we hold the world ransom for... ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Number Two: Don't you think we should ask for *more* than a million dollars? A million dollars isn't exactly a lot of money these days. Virtucon alone makes over 9 billion dollars a year!
Dr. Evil: Really? That's a lot of money.
[pause]
Dr. Evil: Okay then, we hold the world ransom for...
It's a command-line tool and doesn't have the visual bells and whistles of the Flash IDE but is a good way to produce Flash content.
Add the Intellij IDEA (supports Flex from version 9) into the mix - and you have a kick-ass Flex development environment on Linux. That's what I'm actually using in my daily commercial development - yes, I'm doing Flash development on Linux for living. Just finished another product, waiting for a paycheck here on Slashdot:)
You mean that if we supercharge human libido with pr0n, pr0n-like clips on TV, semi-naked girls everywhere *and* give them contraceptives - the population will start quickly decreasing? Oh.. It's good no one have tried anything like that.
Communism, like many other unfortunate realities, is one of those things that makes perfect sense on paper...until you factor in human nature. Then it becomes a clusterfuck of epic proportions.
China is not a communist state in a sense of communism being a working model. Communism is a kind of religion - "if we work well enough and perfect ourselves, our children will live in a perfect society one day". Just the same rubbish as all priest usually say with a slight difference. One of many mistakes of late soviet leaders was promising that "we will live in Communism in 20 years". No, it will not work if implemented. If you try implementing Heaven on Earth with angels and stuff - this will fail as well.
An actual form of government in China is a bureaucratic regime with a planned economy and a strong preference toward a society, closed from any foreign influence. It has roots in 40 centuries long history of their culture. Communist revolution in China was nothing but another change of dynasty, and that's all. One may criticize them as long as he wishes, but they have rise and fall of many other civilizations, including Roman Empire and outlived them all so far. I suspect they see the West as a bunch of barbarians and they are just being protective about their culture. They have a right - it's their culture, after all. I don't think anyone has a right to teach Chinese how to live since they... uh.. did well enough with or without us so far.
Yes, next to the The Ministry of Silly Walks

Yes! Badgers with frigging lasers on their heads!
In Soviet Russia, Microsoft pirates YOU!
No, this is another Hurd, with another mascot: Sexual Harassment Panda.

Add regular blackouts due to power outages and ugly local chicks.
The US state of Georgia was most probably called "Georgia" for a reason. The ex-USSR-Georgia is much older, BTW.

He says he visited an alien spaceship at 18th of September 1997, "at Saturday evening". My calendar disagrees - 1997-09-18 was Thursday.
Just keep the crab people away from the dam and everyone should be safe
Obviously, not 100% of what google indexes is content hosted by the copyright holder, but it's not 99% infringing, either.
It depends on your query
So... everyone sues everyone now?

You might save a life.
...Or you might lose your own life in some circumstances as well.
