    I lived in Sydney for the games...
    Believe me after 2 weeks of 24x7 coverage... you were glad when the games were over....

    I'm a sports nut normally, but there is a limit.

    I really don't wanna watch every sport... Australia is going to be crazy enough with 2 of the 6 'free' channels offering 16 hours a day....

    I want the 'Net to escape from it! :D

    Whilst many claim Firefox doesn't have the brand recognition that Internet Explorer does, it's getting a big push here in Australia.

    So yeah... people in Aust. are taking firefox seriously... most Aust. sites are getting hammered if they are not FF friendly. :)

    I found that my own eyes were pretty dead.
    I've stopped going for eye checkups as I know they are bad. :(

    Basically one eye is there for cosmetic purposes and the other does all the work...

    I found this simple but effective solution seemed to help me.
    I don't worry about my eye-sight at all anymore!

    Damn this Linus bloke for stopping our 2.7 dev stream...

    You would think by the sound of it he knows something about Linux... gawd he's even acting like he created it! :p

    No dramas with 2.4.x series for me, and now I'm on a 2.6.6 kernel with no dramas.

    Using LVM2 + RAID-1 on EXT3 Most are 2Gb+ of RAM machines... with ~1TB of disk...

    It's all down to what ya compile in ppl. :D

    I'm amazed that /. readers are still confusing privacy with security (of the device). Whilst remotely related, they ain't the same...

    No, I'm referring more to the fact your phone now sits on a network, and in theory is able to be hacked.

    Who will pay for the 10,000 calls ya phone racks up from 2am-6am every morning when you sleep due to the trojan/worm it's infected with.

    Sure it ain't gunna be ya VoIP provider!

    Seems VoIP is still in it's infancy...

    I'll be waiting for it to move out of Gen-1 status to the Gen-2 or Gen-3 devices.

    What amazes me is the lack of talk regarding the security of these devices...

    Fedora != geek/hobbist... It's a community based distro... that has RHat overseeing it...

    You might wanna take a look at it...
    It's slicker than any RHL version was... I know plenty of first time Linux users using Fedora...

    Get over the whole RHL... it's gone... and I'm glad it has... Fedora has already left it for dead... :)

    I have used a laptop for years.

    I carry a tea-towel in my carry bag.
    Fold it in half and sit that on my lap. :)

    It might look damn ugly... but no sortch marks on my silk pants! :)

    I think Sun's been forking it up for ages...
    No concern there!

    The only damn language that has extensions for it's extensions... :S

    Open Sourcing it, whilst keeping a control-body over it seems a much better idea. IBM could then definately get their teeth into it (they have much more invested in Java then Sun these days!). It's got to be benefical to Sun for just the help IBM can throw their way...

    Allow users to branch if they like... though I can understand that the likes of 'supported extensions' like the MS debarcle makes some sense...

    Anyone got a solution to stop that happening under a OSS model?
