maybe you should then sell something other than the digital good. say 10k signed copies of the book. The rights to make it a movie. posters, action figures, cards, etc. Performances of your book. The stage adaptation.
sticking with the book idea; a list of things to make money on that are not the physical book
1) Movie rights
2) Signed physical copies
3) Posters, action figures, scarves, etc.
4) Speaking events.
5) something else i didn't think of in the last 3 minutes.
so no the [e]Book need not be your only source of income. see mike masnicks CWF+RTB stuff for more examples.
not to be too picky but i'll be buying GT5 mostly for the dirt tracks/WRC mode, unless you know of a different PS3 rally "sim"? Also, Forza3 seems to be xbox360 only, so that would be what? $200+$60 for xbox+forza. too much to "try it out"
have you thought about not storing the image as an image, but rather just create it on the fly? I remember a while back someone wrote a FPS where all the graphics and textures were generated on the fly.
Thats the differance between eurpoe and the USA, the service providers don't really sell phones there. afaik(ignoring the iphone) phones come unlocked from day 1. basicly there is no such thing as a "t-mobile phone" or an "ATT phone", they just have a "nokia phone" or a "samsung phone". If it is an issue with the phone ask the phone maker about, service issue ask the service provider.
hmm xrandar support, new kernel support? can i run vs. git sources? or just 1-2 releases back? does it support the 57xx and 58xx cards yet? how about TVout? Also can i use the card "hard"(WoW raids) for 4+ hours? and maintain uptimes of weeks? how about the current release of xorg? All of the above only applies to linux.
Anyways until then i'll be sticking with nvidia cards.
The other reliable thing about POTS is that it has a separate power supply from the rest of my house. So even if the power craps out usually my phone works.
can is have the "stiffest, strongest, and safest" 1500lb car?(really less than 1000 or 500) why do i need 1 ton of car to move 200lb me? even if i assume that i 2x the car mass as people mass, taking 4 guys(@~200lb each) I really only need a 1600lb car then.
as a note, almost every front/all wheel drive car is a great winter car with snow tires on. Really just go buy some snow tires and then see if you need a "great winter car"
p.s. to stave off the trolls, I grew up in Minnesota, went to college in the upper peninsula of Michigan, and am now back in Minnesota. so driving in snow has been something that just happens for 3-6 months of the year.
grunt for what? playing youtube vids, listing to streaming internet radio, sufing the web, editing a spreadsheet?
Anything you would expect to do an an Atom with a discrete GPU can (apart from gaming, not that that works well on an atom) be done on a ARM + DSP. not on windows or with closed apps, but i keep hearing rumors of a flash port to ARM Linux from adobe. Soon as that happens, an ARM + DSP is enough for my mother and a much much lower power and price requirement.
Also the 925 is a 65W TDP chip, where the equivalent Intel is a 125W TDP unless you shell out $100 more for the 95W version (plus a bit more to find the one with VT on it^W^Wnot disabled. Now if someone would just make a AM2+/AM3 mini-itx motherboard with a pciE-16x slot in it I'd be set; even if the MB was say 250-300, it would be cheaper overall than the comparable Intel system.
Good, now they can give back all the federal funding they have recived to roll out the networks. Those should be the terms of the federal money. Really just like the internet the service provider, and the owner of the actual infrastructure need to be separated.
Please please please let me "ruin" my movies like that if i switch it on. So maybe I can watch movies at night with out waking up my kids/wife. I'd rather have this in the receiver and have a few profiles that could be swapped on the fly.
just make them broadcast at the same level, you know like line level. let the local machine/DSP handle fixing the sound. I agree about the invasive advertising. I would just like to be able to watch action movies when people are in bed with out spending the entire time messing with the volume. With all the space on blu-ray why isn't there a normalized audio track.
this is exactly what i want, having 2 small children i'd like to not have to fiddle with the audio to hear people talk and then turn it do so that the random gunshot doesn't wake them up. It's getting to the point where i'll have to buy some pro audio gear to stick between the receiver and the amp just to do this for me.
This would be known as normalizing or clipping. i have yet to find a receiver that will do it on the fly for all of my content based on some sort of reference sound. Preferably with 3+ different settings. you know, "normal", "movie", "people sleeping", "show off the system", "music".
yep, and let me know how many people buy your software at $1,000,000 and how many copies of as source at $1,000,000. As your software has to be licensed with the GPL only one copy needs to make it to the internet for redistribution. As the only thing that would be required is a name change to avoid trademark issues. IANAL but i would think that a statement "This, foobar, is a copy of the program foofoo (tm). All trademarks are owned by their respective owners.", would be likely be legal.
use it for a few weeks on that setup looking at ~100 pages a day. (I'm looking for work currently) and see how long you can go without having to restart FF to get back your performance. The other day i had FF taking up 1.5GB of virtual ram... WTF.
sorrta but i could see a case to be made that verison made a "promise" to prevent this sort of behavior, anything that slips though is then their fault. as they failed to prevent the rule from being broken. Granted i'd like to see someone actully enforce this one. on that note;
The only streaming i do is to my PS3, and it streams 1.8-2.2Mbps h264 video with 2.0 ac3 audio. It looks as good on my crap TV as my dvd rips with ffmpeg to similar codecs in an mp4.Granted now i'm sure my PS3 is upscaling and deblocking/deringing the video. I really need to buy a HDMI->DVI adapter.
a large number of boards these days have on board 19V or 12V DC barrel plugs on them. There is also always the option of buying one of the many cases around that just use a pico PSU http://www.logicsupply.com/products/picopsu_90 and this case http://www.logicsupply.com/products/5677 has a small round cutout that you could use to replace the internal PSU with any dc-dc board you liked. http://mini-itx.com/store/?c=2#p4027 motherboard for example draws ~6 watts, and when used with something like a CF-IDE adapter, it might draw 10-15 watts. It's a lot more expensive than an router though. even a SOHO ones. A lot more flexible though.
It's not like you are trying to build a gaming system in a small case and even then most gaming machines don't pull much over 500W at max load.
No not really. I get nice paved roads which are funded by gasoline taxes.
Think again, the interstate system is not entirely funded through gas tax. Hell even the road outside your hose isn't paid for solely by the gas taxes. Even if it was all that would do is drive up the cost of just about everything as the increased cost of shipping would be passed along.
I get a navy and army to defend me from outside invaders.
Hard to argue against that one. Although I feel they could be doing things a bit differently, but that's a different thread.
A government-run school for my kids, which they don't attend (private schooled), so really I'm paying for a school that I don't get to use.
Your issue, you chose to "waste" by *not* sending your kids to. Yes I'm prepared for the argument "but public schools aren't good", so vote in a state superintendent that you like, or in case they are not voted for, vote in the person that is going to appoint the one you like, get involved in your school. Help you kids learn more at home. but do not bitch to me that you paid for something you knew about and then voluntarily chose not use.
Overall? Not worth the $35,000 I paid in taxes last year. $5000 would be more reasonable.
Well so you make around twice the median income in the country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_the_United_States is well referenced, I'm not going to dig though it for you. ( i guessing you make that, as you pointed out how much tax is on 100k in a previous post and then said you paid around that much last year in taxes.) I'm betting the costs of supporting your portion of the military are more than $5000/year (once you factor into account the cost of protecting the amount infrastructure you are using to make that 100k a year)
>>>Oh, what, you want your trash picked up? You want sewers built to your property? Fire protection?
Those would be good ideas, but they are all private companies that are billed separately. Not tax funded. Not government provided.
Hmm most of those are exclusive contracts with a government of some level, trash with the city, sewers with either the state or county, Fire at least in Minnesota is either volunteer (with equipment subsidized by the local governments or donated) or professional and paid by the local/state government. Police is paid for by the local and state governments, I'm willing to bet there is federal money involved in at least the state troupers, if not local police force.
Also try to not use a video to support your point that is chopped up all to hell (mainly as i don't know what was said in the missing bits), and how is fighting racial discrimination and penalizing those that did it the cause of the bubble/collapse? I thought it was banks lending more money than people could really afford and people taking that money to buy larger/more expensive houses than they could afford so they could send 12-14 hours a day in them, 8-10 of that asleep in them. Not them helping make sure that some people that would otherwise be living under a bridge/homeless shelter/cardboard box, have at least something that is a home.
On a personal level, I'd say if someone can't be arsed enough to follow instructions and it's ambiguous in the slightest way, trash it. (If the scanner just fails to read an otherwise flawlessly filled out ballot, those are accepted. Arrows, Xs, comments, those result in a destroyed ballot.) That's not how things work though.
I am interested in what you say. Do you have a newsletter?:)
I agree, mostly, at the same time there would then need to be lengthy tests with the ballots to make sure they were really easy to follow, and not just by the guy who laid them out.
maybe you should then sell something other than the digital good. say 10k signed copies of the book. The rights to make it a movie. posters, action figures, cards, etc. Performances of your book. The stage adaptation.

but the phone is version 1.0 of that model. this is not like going from a nokia 5310 to a 5320.

I would like to think that anyone motivated enough can become a "tech savvy programmer type".
