Crazy. Even today I see review code where programmers have implemented exponential sorting algorithms. It's almost as if the existence of faster CPUs and larger memory has enticed some to be extremely lazy. But it's never enough for some. Example, my MacBook Air goes from "ding-chord!" to signed in and usable in about 15 seconds. For Windows 7 on the very same machine the number is about 3:30, including 30 seconds of watching a fucking white cursor blink on an otherwise black screen! What the hell is it trying to do?
This is why I have a job -- nobody wants to wait weeks for the algorithm to run today, nor 30 years for the hardware to negate the weeks. They want better (implementations of) better algorithms. Except that they don't know that's what they want...
You don't understand -- those junk channels serve to *lower* the cost of basic cable.
If you really concerned about them over-exciting photons in your copper, then you'll have to pay *more* to not get them.
Think of it this way: there will be one basic cost, that is pretty much without respect to content--you'll get all the channels the cable company is forced to carry, plus all the ones they are paid to carry. Anything else will cost more, if you choose to get it. These choices will not usually be single channels, but packages: for $x.xx per month you can get the ESPN suite of like 8 ESPN channels, etc.
I started with Firefox's predecessor when most everybody was using Mosaic. My name's in the "about:credits". Still, I'm not beholden to FF. Tried IE, all versions (even one they made for Solaris--worst browser ever-10 minutes just to start), Safari/Chrome (webkit, in all its flavours), Opera, links/lynx/elinks, etc.
I don't have a problem with FF crashes, and can't figure out how it's any slower than any other browser beyond benchmark tests, and I have lots of memory sitting unused.
That being said, the key differentiator for me is plugins. They work better for me in FF, and they simply don't offer the same breadth in the others...
FTFA: "Light and dark passages in these films, large volumes of data, and a minimum of interference from other devices are the key to performing this analysis."
My smartmeter reports hourly total usage, not "large volumes of data"...
Here at Telegraph Hill, I can tell you that is one scary thought!
(It's also only just around the corner where they can blow up the Golden Gate Bridge, which, if Hollywood has learned me something, it's that the GGB always gets blown up...)
I call BS. You can't even get through the BIOS bullshit on a Dell in 15 seconds.

I keep forgetting--how do I get into this 1% group?
Yeah just like Apple's products, Steve didn't invent being a jerk, but came close to perfecting it...
Good point.
Yeah it's a good thing he didn't let his fortune change him...
Swapping luxury vehicles every six months, parking scofflaw, ...
Why is it I suddenly want to buy a 3-pack?
Apparently north of that bridge is the start of the vodka belt. BrÃnnvin's fine up there, just keep your beer down south.
If so, how many "puttonyos"?

If you can get Sonic's Fusion product, AT&T can't compete with that.
Disclaimer: I am a very happy Sonic Fusion customer.
Also wrong:
"Apple is the only systems manufacturer to adopt Thunderbolt, and it has done so as an additional device connectivity port"
Nope. Thunderbolt port supersedes the Mini-displayport and is backwards compatible...
Who keeps the same phone for five years?
Redo the math considering that people repurchase iphones every 18-24 months...
I already explained this.

Water is wet.
... does every major story have to be followed up with a "open source" side story?
Run your own mail server. Very easy. And I seldom censor myself...

Isn't Digg the better site for conspiracy theories?

That's like 3-4 generations, in technology...

... they've got self-destruct buttons and sassy attitudes.
---no wait! this is slashdot!
LOVE to be a stickler:
This is not actually self-LACING shoes--those shoes are already laced. This is automatic tensioning, not even tying...
