Things are going from bad to worse at the moment, what makes you think they're going to take a turn for the better?
And how much do you honestly know about the situation that isn't from some form of mass-media? I have friends in Iraq currently and some that have served and returned. What they tell me is vastly different from what is being reported on the news. But that's why it's news. They can't report that everything is going smoothly in 90% of the country because that's not news. That is the ordinary.
Tough talk is necessary sometimes, but are we actually able to back it up?
The current situation in Iraq seems to imply that we can't.
Do you seriously believe that we couldn't completely destroy the insurgants if we absolutely had to? We could storm the Mosque where the Al Sadr is working out of. We could bulldoze down houses like Israel is doing. We could pull out and bomb the problem cities to oblivion. We can do all these things but we don't for various reasons.
If the US is not the world superpower, then who is?
Lucas needs to stand down and let others do the creative work.
That's a very arrogant post.
Who are you to say that? It is his vision and his work. He is not doing this just to please you. He is making the changes because he wants to and re-re-re-releasing them for the money. If an author puts out some crappy work, nobody tells him to get someone else to write his books. It's Lucas's work and legacy and he has all the right to portray it as he chooses.

Right because South Park never makes fun of anybody...
Why would the RIAA care? Their share doesn't change based on what Real sells it for. Real is just a reseller. They will be the ones eating the loss.
Sure Real only resells it but they have to get it from the RIAA in the first place. The RIAA isn't going to give it to them without a contract. I would be very suprised if there isn't pricing information in the contract but I can't say for sure.
Perhaps the RIAA is doing this to break Apples dominance?
I agree with that completely. I have no problem whatsoever with paying 99 cents for a song and I do so when I hear a new song I like.
I'm suprised that the RIAA is allowing this. 4.99 an album is quite a bit less than the $12 or so that cds go for. If I am going to buy an entire album, I usually buy the cd. This might change that though.
Additionally, any time that I see a machine in a Movie/Television show it almost never runs windows. It either is very obviously a Mac or runs some generic OS. Last night, I saw the firs half hour or so of Final Destination 2 and it had a guy carrying an iMac in a box. It had no purpose whatsoever to the movie and they went out of their way to keep flashing the apple log.
Because most people do not know how to drive fast, this rule seems to serve a practical purpose. You should consider however that there are countries out there which do not impose speed limits on part of their roads. The results of that seem to suggest that in certain cases that isn't a problem for safety, on many cases it is. Germany is an example of such a country.
That is true but from what I understand (from friends in Germany) their required tires are much more superior (and expensive) then tires in the US.
What kind of public outcry and conspiracy theories would arise from the US telling 99% of the population that they need to buy new tires to continue driving?
t would be kinda cool for your windows machine to turn red when you get a virus or have the computer go blue when you get new email though.:)
I would suggest only having three colors, a normal color, a yellow warning color and a red "there is something seriously wrong" color. With many more, it would be very confusing.
Everyone complains about the simplistic color "threat rating" put out by the department of homeland security being confusing but this is a good idea? Yes it would be cool but not really practical. I'd much rather have a message on the screen telling me whats wrong instead of having to look up a color and see what it means. It seems like a huge step backward.
That is a really cool idea. Reall cool. But would be willing to spend two grand for it?
But the tablet thing is done. It never really took off. Unless Apple has made some huge (and I mean really huge) improvement over what's out there now, I fear they are just throwing their money away.
Republican != neocon. Traditional republicans are ones who try to eliminate as much waste/pork as possible(McCain is a good example of this type). From what I have seen, Arnold is as well.
The problem is on both parties. You have the people who stick exactly to the official party line in order to get the nominatino and you have those who are truly concerned with representing the citizen's best interests. McCain is an excellent example of this and he didn't get the nomination in 2000. We need a TRUE moderate. I don't care which party he comes from.
They are into cutting taxes for people who are a whole lot richer than you and I, and then using your taxes to reward their buddies while you and I, and the americans to follow us will foot the bill.
And it shows that OSS really is like communism because it has a dictator.

HINT: Free speech means everyone gets to express their ideas, not just you.
It's amazing how slashdoters can be so fickle. Free speech is OK as long as it doesn't come from a republican.

And why am I even talking about the RIAA. It is the labels that make the deals with the distributors - not the RIAA.
You do have a point there.

That's very true. I don't think it is talking about evolution in the darwinian sense though. I think it's refering to the olympics evolving.
That whole thing assumes communism is in any way bad... It's biased to begin with.
Quite commie!

Just thought it was interesting.

should be "charms or potions."
Actually, in the original olympics, all forms of magic were band. Whether they be charms of "potions."
Additionally, It would end up being a compition of who has the most resources to make theirselves the better athlete and not a comptetion of talent.
Some people act like nobody will know they copied and pasted.

That is misleading and does no service.
Not the only one. I'm very suprised it wasn't mentioned before.
As of about the 6 months ago, it was the same situation with Macs. I think they upped the minimum memory to 512.
Perhaps if the windows system requirements recommended 512 MB it might make a difference.
In those terms, I don't see what there is to complain about.
In the bitter world of slashdot, there is always something to complain about.
Nobody said anything about minimum requirements. Those are all low end "modern" parts.
Yeah, AIM users are stupid.
