And why should we thing that the laws of physics that we hold to be true (if in fact they are) don't apply other places in the universe.

I am not a physicist but isn't the speed of light a theoretical limit? Don't physical dimensions decrease as c is approached? Doesn't that imply that exceeding the speed of light would result in negative physical dimensions? Perhaps antimatter is just stuff traveling faster then the speed of light.

I am verly likely wrong on all the above counts. Any physicists out there?

Like the XP interface (and colors) or not, it is consistant and fairly simplistic. The default fonts and text sizes are reasonable.

I do not find this to be the case for KDE. The default theme gets in the way. The style selector shown on first load is a step in the right direction but it still doesn't do it for me. For me to use KDE, I have to sort through hundreds of the ugliest themes I have seen at kdelook.org to find one that doesn't get in my way. On top of that, I have to still adjust my fonts.

I don't need this. If you all have time to completely configure every aspect of your system then that's great. I don't. With all its faults, Gnome works better for me out of the box.

This remindes me of those exercises that I did in grade school where I had to write specific instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The teacher would then make a mockery of the instructions by making a mess with the ingrediants.

Few people here are lawyers so few statements are going to be hole free. Most statements here and elsewhere in the world require a little common sense to interpret correctly.
