This is slightly off-topic here... But have you all noticed how all these companies are getting people to basically submit to tracking every purchase they make? Best-Buy cards, Kroger cards... Every purchase you make goes into a huge database tieing it specifically to you. A lot of people don't realize this or worse yet don't mind because it saves them ten cents on a bottle of mustard. I think that if monetary incentives were given, people would line up in groves.
Actually, I believe it is about destruction of Israel. A lot of what is said there ties into historical records of the event. I have also heard that by using an ancient hebrew method for finding numbers based on words, "Nero" produces 666.
I think the point is that they aren't consistant with standard desktop keyboards. When you are used to typing on a desktop or notebook, it's difficult to move to the other.
Also, desktop keyboards have much moer space inbetween the "pressed" top portion of the keys then notebooks do. This makes it more accessable for people with large fingers. A lot of people with large fingers have trouble with laptops.
If I had known you were going to give that answer, I would have asked you.
Seriously though, I agree completely. I assume they would be given recommendations from some kind of committee composed of technical folks but they would still have the final say and probably wouldn't understand the technical recommendations. Technical and non-technical people have different ways of viewing problems and situations.

I don't understand that either. I don't think it deserves to be modded up but it sure as hell doesn't deserve a -2.
So why would we want a book that supposedly teaches us how to use something for which we as of yet have little use in the online world?
Maybe people in the professional world can find use of this. XML is used quite a bit in my experience. It is a format that requires no special software to read; just the corresponding dtd. This makes it both platform and software independent. It is also a very useful format for transfering data between different applications.
That is not always the case. Every album I have considered buying on ITMS, has been $.99 per song which is more then I would purchase at a store. True, some are around $10 but the ones I wanted were not. I suppose that is to get my to buy the actual cd.
Putting your address will give foreign spammers a list of lots of active US email addresses. There will be no way for the US government to do anything aobut this.
There will me no way that my main address gets on there. I will put my secondary address on there to see if it makes any difference.
I like yahoo news. Unlike google news, it does not link to the webpage with the news on it. Instead it put's the text onto the news.yahoo.com domain. It makes for a consistant experience. It doesn't have a huge amount of sources but there are a decent selection of stories including an own page for opensource/linux stories and another for apple stories.
Is this legal ? Does giving a computer for free allow you to monitor and filter whatever you want ?
I would say yes. It is property of the school so the school is entitled to ensure that their property is being used correcetly. They are probably doing this for legal reasons as well. If the students decide to do something illegal with the computers, the school can stop it before action is taken against the school.
I have never heard of spying using these services.
You make it sound like a pretty nice service if you do a lot of traveling. It wouldn't be of too much use to me though.
I'd assume they'd have to get a warrent to use it to spy on you. Anything like that is worth carefully reading the privacy policy. I guess spying though one of these services is not a whole lot different then from having your phone tapped.
Yeah... But if it leaks you'd have Godzilla walking out of the orcean.
Seriously though, do you honestly think anyone is going to dump nuclear waste in the ocean? Just because terrorists can't get to it doesn't mean it isn't causing harm to whatever life is down there.
What about this "reprocessing" of spent fuel rods? I'm not exactly sure what this process is. Is it not a way to recycle or at least deal with part of the waste?
It depends on when her ancecstors came to the US. The reason why american and brittish accents are different is because it was in the process of changing AFTER America had been established.
It think it's psychological. If you have a head injury, wierd things can happen. I had a high school teacher who was thrown from a horse. After that, she became a buddhist and believes that in a past life she was alexander the greats gay lover. I think from the fact that there have only been 20 cases reported in the last 80 years the accent thing is just something random like this. I hardly think it desrves it's own name.
I know that this is not a popular idea here but I think a whitelist is a good idea.
Basically, I want to get rid of anonymous email services like hotmail and yahoo. Have the government set some kind of organization that basically just keeps track of all the "verified" domains. If you or your company/organization want to host an email server on your domain, you fill out some knid of form that says "we have verified the users of our email (via credit card or whatever) and will take action against those who abuse our services.
Then ISPs will provide an OPTION that you can emable to check all incoming mail against the government's list of valid providers and your address book / safe list then delete the message or move the message to a junk folder.
If spam gets though, forward the mail to a government address where a message is sent to the email provider and or investigaded. If the problem persists, remove the provide from the list of verified email services.
I'm sure this wouldn't work exactly as I suggest and I know loopholes are there. I think it would be a nearly transparent solution for most people and shift the responsibility of controling spam to the email providers.
Uhhh.... I think that's just IRC, dude. :)
Yeah, it's amazing how arrogant people can be under the guise of anonymity.
I posted this same damn article yestarday...
So is a Design Pattern just a clearly defined common problem and a general, language-independent, algorithm for solving the problem?
I have never heard that term before...

If so I can't really tell. The review seems pretty empty and doesn't really contain any hard info that couldn't be found on amazon.com.
That being said. Java's frameworks tend to be very high quality and easy to work with in my experience.
I think the point is that they aren't consistant with standard desktop keyboards. When you are used to typing on a desktop or notebook, it's difficult to move to the other.

Plus, for me it's hard to read a lot of text on a computer.
Actually I don't think you do. I have seen people on several occasions get arrested for urinating in public places.

It was slashdoted when there were only 2 comments visible. Possibly before that. That's when I tried to access it at least.

Would that be "reacter urine?"
