I think Firefox is better but I use Safari more often. Safari just has little things that I like, none of which are extremely important. A couple of things:
Cmd+Shift+Left/Right switches tabs: I'm sure theres a way to set this in FF but I don't have the time. In windows ctl-pgdn/pgup works but there's no pgdn/pgup key on my powerbook
Visual feedback when dragging pictures from safari to save to disk: The image shrinks down to a transparent large thumbnail when you drag it. If you don't drag it to a valid location, after you release the mouse button you will see it go back to safari.
Address bar completion: Instead of taking the first match, it takes the match that has been selected the most number of times. So if I go to http://slashdot.org/~ViolentGreen more often than I go to http://slashdot.org/, as I type "http://slas", it will autocomplete to http://slashdot.org/~ViolentGreen. It's the next step in autocompletion. I would expect Firefox to have this in the future. Again, no biggie but it's very nice.
Nader's not really a serious candidate. I get the impression that he's running for more of a protest option.
Some people do strongly identify with one of the two major parties. I have met many who do. No matter which party you chose to associate yourself with, you aren't going to agree with them on 100% of the issues. It's a choice of which one best fits you. I don't identify strongly with either of the two major parties but I am much closer to one of these than any of the third party groups. They are just to radical for me.
I'm don't think US is a failing empire, but unless the emphasis in US politics changes from gay rights, abortion, religion vs. science and god in pledge I think it will run into trouble.
That's not the emphasis on politics. Those are polarizing issues which the parties try to use to their advantage. They are small issues in the overall picture.
Yeah, I've had no problems at all with it. I don't use the firewall either. I am behind a hardware firewall to block the incoming and use sygate to control the outgoing. As added protection, I run PeerGuardian.
Wouldn't that make it more succeptable to static discharge?
Also, it's been a while since i built my last machine but I seem to remember that the motherboard *can't* touch the case. I assume that this has to do with grounding. It just sounds like a bad idea to have the computer touching the case. Then again, I'm not electrical engineer.
I'll have to try that when I get off work. I know I can't do a cmd+c then cmd+v to paste a file. I'm pretty sure that there's no keyboard shortcut to move (cut/paste) a file either.
I agree completly. What I'm saying though, is that you *can* muck around and learn basics without by using a combination of the two buttons. That is much harder to do with a CLI that you know nothing about.
I agree. Finder is seriously lacking with respect to the power of explorer. Explorer is the best file manager that I have ever used (though it could be because I used it for so many years before branching out.) Finder is missing a lot of stuff that I find basic. The biggest that I can think of is the lack of a keyboard-based copy/cut/paste. I would kill for a cmd+c in finder.
There are finder replacements out there. There was one shareware application (I can't remember the name) that had a very similar look to finder but added features. It came highly recommended but I had to turn it away. The problem was that it added too many features and I didn't see it as worth my time to learn.
The command line is an obfuscation and a hinderence to people who really know what they want to do.
I'd like to modify that to say "The command line is an obfuscation and a hinderence to people who only know what they want to do and not how to do it."
The command line is extremly powerful. The GUI has it's place though. If you put someone in front of a command line with no insturction, they will have trouble getting around. There are 100+ keys on a keyboard as opposed to 2(3) buttons on a mouse. If you do enought clicking on any desktop environment, you can figure out how to get at least somthing done.
A GUI can be superior to a command prompt in some situations as well. Say you want to move 15 dissimilarly named files in one directory to another. In a GUI, you open up two "explorer" windows, use your mouse to select exactly which files you want and drag them to the other window. With a CLI, you have to type the 15 distinct file names as well as the destination folder. You could end up with the final command being 3-4 lines long and are more likely to make errors.
A GUI can make things easy that are tedious in a CLI. A CLI can make things easy that are tedious in a GUI.
Thankfully you don't have to choose one or the other. There's no reason to.
That varies by program. I have attended two engineering school. One was as you mentioned; it focused entirely on the core engineering material and did not require other classes. The other school required classes in certain areas and 300+ level electives outside of your dicipline.
Creationists don't believe that evolution is a lie. There is too much evidence to dispute that. They take issue with the theory that all life evolved from a single cell organism.
Exactly. The innocent until proven guilty thing only works in the court and not the public opinion. To everyone but the jury, Peterson is a murderer, OJ is a murderer, Kobe is a rapist.
If Peterson is found innocent, whether he did it or not, there will always be wispers about him. He will have trouble finding a job (if the book and movie sales don't support him for life). These public trials are a travesty of our legal system. It is completly unfair to those who are innocently accused.
Wind farms may change the climate, causing some local areas to be warmer, but other areas to be colder. But it does not appear to warm the climate on a global basis.
Maybe you should read up on global warming then. Global warming will cause some places to heat up and others to cool as well. Despite the name, the entire earth doesn't warm up.
Yeah, I read this, and initially thought "cool!". However then I realized: wait: their interface is faster, sleeker, and easier than any local mail client I have. So I actually don't think I'll be using this
That may be true. It still has it's uses though. I have somewhere around 5 email accounts. They are each for different purposes and it isn't worth the time and effort to consolidate them into one account. This will allow me to view all of my accounts at the same time from one client. This wasn't possible with gmail before.
I'd love to see some well thought out SW television shows as long as Lucas has no part in them. The rich universe is already there and there are multiple timelines that they could persue inside this universe. They need to keep Lucas out and focus on the story, not special effects.

Yeah, it's automatic +1 Infomative/Insightful as well. By now, it's Redundant if anything.
BTW, It's always rendered correctly for me with multiple versions on Mac, PC and Linux.

Interesting. The A64 uses less at full load than the p4s do at idle.

I'd love for you guys to prove me wrong though.

Yeah, that's one of it's advantages. I looked at dports but fink seems a little more robust.

Yeah, I wish my mac did that.
They see it but they can't admit it. It's a sign of weakness and will hurt their stock price.

It would be easier to move over a little than try to outrun one.
I like the clicker.
I do too. It gives a little aural feedback on how fast you are scrolling. It's not necessary by any means but neither is solitaire.

Yeah. I'd like to see a source. I don't watch FOX News but I don't believe this guy either.

You must be thinking of WA3. That's when the vieo player was added. My old 450MHZ K6-2 with 352MB RAM couldn't handle it.
Plus, it allows you to listen to a song without importing it into your library.
