    that sourcetool only made money when it was ranked highly on google suggests that it is in fact not useful enough for people to regularly use to find what they want, otherwise lower google rank should have only lowered the rate of growth.

    i picked up the collectors edition from wally world for $10, the included doom95 engine worked but the newer engines looked better (i prefer the mix of old sprites for monsters and new 3d packs for ordinance and weapons, the 3d models for the monsters were horrible last time i checked

    we need a database of organizations and their willingness to work with security researchers, that way companies and governments who fix their problems can get a heads up, and clowns like the Massachusetts state governemnt can have their stuff 0-day every time. There is no need to give them a chance to take you to court when you know that's all they will do.

    the rightsholder initiated the transfer, the theory is that by requesting the transfer they implicitly authorized those copies, just like your boss can't fire you for stealing company secrets when he asks you to bring a CD of trade secret manufacturing data to a subsidiary's branch office.

    $3500/month mortgage isn't outrageous for someone making $5000/month. 2 car payments if they were nice cars could be as much as $750/month totaling $4250, throw in 1200 every 6 months for car insurance (assuming both are high risk drivers) brings fixed costs up to 4450/month and $550 for groceries and bullshit every month. $550 is plenty of groceries and bullshit.


    they didn't wipe out their savings because they got screwed by their mortgage, they wiped out their savings because they were "house poor" and too fucking stupid to cut their spending to reflect that.

    granted the fixed costs were rather high compared to what would be a good level for growing savings for an emergency fund, but it was by no means unsustainable on it's own.

    on a FRM that gamble is against a paper loss, you mortgage payment is $1200/month regardless of what the market value of your home is, so nothing the market can do will affect your home. a 5-1 binds your wallet to the potential paper loss in 5 years

    typefaces cannot be protected but font files are.

    the typeface is the look of the characters, the font contains all of the guts required for proper kerning and hinting. those guts generally are in fact executable code run by the renderer.

    even if the yuan were fixed to the USD the far more likely reason would be the chinese government wants to maintiain business relations with US companies, if the dollar losing value menat it suddenly cost 3x as much to manufacture in china, plus rising shipping costs many companies would relocate either back to the US or down to mexico where shipping is cheaper.
