    passport security is only a problem because government is stupid, every passport should include a crypto smart card, that way the data loaded has to be digitally signed by the gov't in order to be considered valid including the photo which will show up on screen when swiped. also data exchange and identificaiton would be done with assymetric crypto so you can prove your validity to an untrustworthy entity without compromising yourself.

    keep an eye on your sporting goods store flyers i have seen .50 cal rifles in there every once in a while for under $500, anything that can shoot down a hovering chopper will be useful when the shit hits the fan.

    if you aren't strong enough to control the kick on a .50 cal get a good .30-06 don't bother with shotguns.

    well i guess amex just sucks balls then, i called visa when some drawing software company sold me a $20 download (not a problem) then called my dorm and told me the software i bought was shit (a problem) tried to get me to 'upgrade' to the $100 version (a problem) then wouldn't cancel the order (a problem) they took care of me even though i'm just a lowly college student with an $800 credit limit

    the element itself and the wires leading into it produce a nice amount of heat, and i think some comes from light reabsorbed by the plastic but i'm not sure about that.

    Maybe you missed the thread a week or so ago all about lamps LED's are very good as flashlights not so much because they are super efficient but rather because low voltage incandescents are absolutely terrible compared to normal incandescents

    the kids who shot up columbine did it because they were fucked up kids not because they played video games. if violent video games caused kids to be killers there would be a rise in homicide rates among young teens at school, but there is no such rise linkable to the invention and wide-spread appeal of video games

    And LED's produce very minimal heat, so temperature is not an issue.

    LED's, especially in large numbers produce plenty of heat for the light output they have. you don't notice that heat because usually they are alone and dim. get one of the LED lamps from thinkgeek and you will see that LED's aren't much more efficient than regular lamps, and are less efficient than Compact Flourescent or flourescent tubes

    Macro-evolution is a conjecture at best. Its not testable or falsifiable and I would not even call it a theory.

    If you weren't a creationist moron you would see that the fossil record shows very strong support for macro-evolution. so do DNA studies and similar biochemestry of related species.

    it depends on what sites they are delivering to and what sites you were from. if you got there from free republic you get the baby clothes ad's if you came in from moveon.org you get the planned parenthood ad's

    sure it can be gotten around with ROOT access to the system. with OSX you don't run constantly as root. just because it is possible that an attacker would escalate privlidges enough to install drivers doesn't mean you should give up and not even try to protect yourself.
