    I agree, when i want to transfer files, i use an FTP server. If the blockhead on the other end of the transfer cannot figure out how to at least use MSIE's FTP then the don't deserve to get my files anyways (hell i got my girlfriend using filezilla since it runs nicer than the IE FTP)

    That would be Jabber. In fact a Jabber SN looks like an email address (mine is Lehk@jabber.org) and anyone can run a private or public Jabber server.

    then change the settings, personally i think the default config for GAIM sucks, I use small icons, text buttons, and hide the away time and warn level. It actually fits in nicer thanmost other IM clients (AIM has all too many different looking widgets crammed into one app, and Trillian looks like a bad Sonique skin)

    I had a TV card and hated the fucking thing so i got a TV -> VGA converter box (General Electric, $70), it sits between the monitor and PC and when switched to TV mode it overrides the PC signal and puts the TV display on the monitor

    Disadvantages:
    No TV Capture
    cannot be controlled by PC

    Advantages:
    No drivers
    OS independant
    can be used while PC is poered off
    no Lag (you can use it to play video games)
    TV remote
    NO system resource usage whatsoever

    well if the screen is blank then what exactly would you do to reinstall drivers anyways? I've done blind logins to reset video resolution, but doing a driver install would be a bit risky >;)

    did you read the post? all the things i listed were benefits, and increased productivity is a major cost savings because people are expensive.

    Because if they can get a Linux driver to work straight off the disk when I'm in a normal user account, I want them on my team. That's a great piece of programming.

    No that is a local root exploit, and will be patched within hours most likely.

    actually a contract can be voided within some period of time, i think 48 hours by either party, if the store gives you a hard time just keep pushing for the refund.

    household 110V AC is not really alternating, it is pulse, the true AC in a home is only 220 V AC (the 110 lines are made up of half of a 220 V and a neutral, that is why you have polarized plugs on AC equipment)

    damned flickering flourescents give me headaches, no thanks, ill use a 15 watt incandescent to light my room, i have sensitive eyes anyways so 15 watts is enough and i can look right at it.

    actually it is, the point is to stop people from posting excessively long lines that make the page too wide to display normally, I guess before my time here the trolls had a laugh by doing that.

    higher voltage = more sparks
    sparks + gasoline = explosion/fire
    therefore, lower voltage = fewer explosions and fires during accadents

    I am confident that this inflatable space station will use some type of self-sealing layering making it more resiliant than a metal space station.
