Ok, I was with you until I read the word "centrifugal"... I was under the impression that science left that word behind long ago for "centripetal". At least that's what we were taught in the 80's. Has it come back in fashion to use it?
Actually, after looking at the article...no, it's not the one down the street from me(though that one is closing sometime soon) so the one they're referring to is NOT the last one to close...
I was about to say that I was pretty certain that the one down the street from me is still producing, etc. but it seems that this article is referring to that one according to the local news sites. I drive by it nearly every day and they've been producing bulbs..guess that's about to change..
I think the "theory" in question here is the sensationalism and alarmism attributed to this mess. I'd have FAR less problems believing the climatologists predictions if they would avoid the sensationalism that they've presented in the past few years. Let me list a few so you'll be aware what I'm talking about...
* Hurricanes will increase in frequency or strength, predicted specifically for 2009/2010.
Except they didn't. I can't find the link that compared the predicted versus actual numbers but there are far fewer hurricanes than previous years for 2009 and 2010 seems to be pretty low as well so far. *I* am predicting that the next prediction will be "global warming will cause a decreased frequency of hurricanes". And they never got stronger. That was, as usual, someone not understanding statistics.
* Himalayas will be devoid of ice by 2035. Yes, it was a "typo" but everyone wanted to believe it..
* Due to the Greenland glaciers, the ocean will rise 21 feet. Too bad it was recalculated closer to 7 inches.
* And now the Antarctic and Greenland melting is happening at about 1/2 the rate they thought.. ZOMG the world is gonna end. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!! Or not.
I'm sure there are other examples but that's all I can think of right now without my caffeine..
If the climatologists would stop predicting anything other than facts and trends, they might get less egg on their faces and be considered to be at least somewhat respectable. As it stands they prefer to play the role of seer/doomsayer and as such I'm committed to shoot them down when they get out of hand.
Yes, I know they use the same blocklists, but PG won't update(at least for me)..keeps complaining about some error. After a month of this, I went looking for a solution and found PeerBlock, which obviously worked immediately.
I didn't see this in TFA but I suspect they might find something a bit different about this behavior if they performed the rolling in a vacuum. I say this because some 15+ years ago I observed the deformation that they're talking about due to a magic trick I perform where I "shoot" a rubber band forward really fast and then it rolls back toward me like it was a boomerang, and it has little-to-nothing to do with aerodynamics; it has far more to do with the physical qualities of the "rubber" and the inertia of the material in the rear as it moves from touching the ground to being "lifted" to be brought back to the front. You see this behavior in many things including some chainsaws if their chains are really loose.
I've seen that too, believe me. I had a friend whose story started out that he had dual citizenship(US/UK), and was "attached to" a Navy Seals unit. Then a couple months later, he was an actual member of the team, then it was like he was in charge a few times. Then his girlfriend, who was an engineer for Texas Instruments, tricked him into visiting his parents with her and she asked them about him; he had ancestors from the U.K but the only UK in he'd had until he joined the Navy was the University of Kentucky, and he was onboard a ship with a team of Seals who may have asked him to help them with something that is possibly trivial in nature.
Actually, I think that someone repeating something you told them as if it happened to them after a sufficient time delay is a semi-common behavior among humans and about 15 years ago in one of the hypnosis communities in which I hung out, I gave it a name "The Ben Kenobi Pattern", a linguistic manipulation where someone repeats something you just told them like Obi-wan does with the "these are not the droids you're looking for". I've worked on it from time to time since then but it's far more common than you might imagine.
Even better, why don't Thesis just make a "templating engine" to handle the WP code that can then be released under GPL and then release the rest of the CSS, images, etc. under their own license? I can think of a couple of ways this could be accomplished and it would protect Thesis entirely.
From the WP "analysis" on one of the links in the summary...
**** "My JS/CSS/Images are 100% original. Do they have to be GPL?
No, they don't. If they aren't based on GPL'd JavaScript, CSS, or images, you are not forced to make them GPL. What you could do is offer a theme under a split license. The PHP would be under the GPL, but other static resources could be under some other license." ****
That said, I'm a bit concerned about how this "it's a part of WP" will be interpreted because doesn't that then mean that commercial apps like Zend Studio, etc. are ALSO required to comply with the GPL since they ostensibly hook into the various GPL'ed libraries, etc. ??
I mean I'm all for GPL but if everything that so much as touches GPL'ed software falls under that license, we're going to find fewer and fewer people willing to create commercial apps for GPL OS'es, etc..and while I may not use it, we definitely don't need to go shooting ourselves in the foot at this stage of the game.
The Master got past that limit on regeneration long ago though. And there is speculation that the limit was only artificially created by the governing Time Lords as a means of getting their people to enjoy their lives to the fullest and then move on to death.
Hemi-Sync is awesome. The closest to any high I ever got was listening to "Deep Meditation" twice in a row because I accidentally put my CD player on auto-repeat. The next day I was very relaxed and felt a bit spacey but nothing negative. And that could have simply been coincidence but it's still funny. The "Deep Learning" and "Running Meditation" cd's are pretty sweet as well, in my opinion.
I forgot entirely about that episode when I submitted the story. Dunno why though since I'm always referring to how real life seems to be mimicking the show these days. Of course it's probably because I've been using sounds to reach meditative states(*snicker*) and you know what they say about a user and their memory..
Playboy isn't going broke because of piracy so it's actually your point that's rather weak. And I actually wasn't addressing that particular point to begin with.

That was my very first thought, though for ED it's more about relaxing those muscles, not tightening them.

Time to license our money to these guys, I say.

Ramen!

I was just about to point this out. AFAIK, PeerGuardian doesn't actually update the IP block addresses any more.
My question now is...how do we get PeerBlock to find the studios in question and make sure they're added to our databases?
Ahem, a precedent is set by going to trial, not by avoiding it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precedent
This is not the first 3D porn movie. I have several porn movies in 3D that predate this by years.
You know you wouldn't be *that* surprised if he did though....admit it.
...to not buy that, either.
Nope, I'm a fan of that group, and song, and have no desire to post such things....

Actually opium IS a naturally occurring drug; it's the dried "resin" derived from poppy plants; I think you're thinking about morphine and heroin.
That question has been asked MANY times and the answer is, unfortunately, no.
