of course it is. How else can I read my email when on a course/at a clients site/on holiday?? There are many occasions when it is nice to have email without lugging a damn laptop round with me.
and as for hotmail and gmail just forget them and use yahoo instead, it has 100 Mb of space and so will do for most people (in fact yahoo has always had more space on offer than hotmail (at least in the UK) since I started using it last Millenium!!!) Plus it has good (IMHO) spam filters that work pretty well now I have 'trained' them.

I would add a caveat to this, yes the community may have taken their time (and/or Bioware may have taken their time to fix enough bugs for the community to finally be able to do something good with the game)
but now the community is making the game BETTER than bioware ever could, there are a LOT of quality modules out there as well as LOADS of new rules, character classes, spells, magic items etc etc.
if you want single player or multi player or multi with persistance there is something for you with NWN, you can be good, evil, or indifferent. you can be a hardcore role player or a hack and slasher and it even runs natively under OSX and Linux, not just windows (don't get me started about the lack of a toolset under OSX though!!). You cannot really ask for much more in an RPG game

  7. IBM 55's - harder than diamonds on Abused, But Working Hardware Stories? · · Score: 2, Interesting

The best bit of abuse I have seen was on an IBM Model 55, it was functioning as one of our Eicon X25 Gateway's so was pretty vital to our day to day operations.
It had a dodgy hard disk that would randomly crash and freeze the system, after a reboot, you would get a disk0 failure code, the solution we found was to remove the HDD (IBM had a great quick remove option with the 55 where you did not need to take the cover off it just slid out the front - ahead of it's time really!) and gently tap it on the desk/wall/co-workers head, reinsert and power up, if this did not work remove it again and tap it somewhat harder. The true elite support guys knew just how hard to hit it to get it working first time.

After about 2 years of this 'system' the old girl finally gave up the ghost and no amount of slamming it against the desk worked, so seeing as they had nothing to loose the guys cracked the disk open, breaking the vacuum seal, and spun the platters round by hand!!!, reassembled, reboot - it worked fine!! I kid you not, I still to this day do not know how it worked after such abuse, imagine it was a bit like the bumble bee!

I will stop hating Microsoft when they pry the mouse from my cold dead fingers!

I have tried to use SFU 3.5 as an NFS server and client and it sucks! big time! It is slow, buggy and generally awful.
On the same hardware, I bought a copy of Hummingbird's NFS Maestro and that ran along just fine no delay between putting files on the server and seeing them from another cross-platform server, with SFU there was usually about 30 seconds delay plus the usual MS rigmarole of needing to reboot every 5 seconds to make sure userids were mapped correctly

It is only meant to be used as a migratory helper, you try using it longterm as a complementary server and you'll soon see bugs creeping in.

    2) Yes, in the past there have been a couple windows updates that were not up to par, but they have become much better. The last problem one I remember was about 2 years ago with an Exchange Update (not security related)

Can I just point out the latest issue with MS04-11 (the Sasser worm vuln fix) if you have the files ipsecw2k.sys, imcide.sys and dlttape.sys - (the last one being PRETTY common on corporate servers) instead of your machine rebooting all the time - it will just hang or fill up a CPU to 100%
Microsoft are now offering a hotfix to one of their patches! priceless!!
