Just think, future generations will have a nice high-res recording of your dying moments! Ever wondered exactly what your great great grandparent saw and heard as they died?
These glasses, should they catch on, will also produce a whole new wave of sex and practical joke creepiness...
I always wonder why so many youngsters (and I mean quite young) are online playing Call of Duty, since it is an M rated game. They checked my ID when I bought it, and I am in my 30s.
This sounds like another case of bad parents wanting to blame everything in the world besides themselves...
From the perspective of a psychology graduate student at a large university:
1) Get used to taking notes on a laptop via typing.
2) Use Preview to annotate lecture outlines; this works wonderfully (you can draw arrows, circle things, type notes, underline, highlight, etc)
3) For course involving mathematics, print available lecture slides or outlines, and then take notes with a pen and paper (i.e. right on the slides themselves).
Trying to find some way to use a tablet seems to just make things more complicated. A laptop is not too much more bulky, and has much more functionality and utility. True, you cannot hold it like a book and read from it on the bus. But, does one really want to read a 3-column academic journal article on a tablet or e-reader? I sure don't; I have tried and hate it. Do your serious studying and reading on the laptop, and add annotations and notes right to the pdf files of the journal articles.
If each news story requires a micropayment, doesn't that mean that sites like Slashdot, should they post little quotes and information from News sites, are guilty of a crime?
My shuffle will find this song and play it every 10th song or so. I will have the thing FULL of music, and for some reason it wants to play Karma Police by Radiohead more than any other song I have ever loaded onto it. Anyone else have this issue?
And I know I may be just being a human and seeing a pattern where there is not one, but keep this in mind, nothing is truly random. No Algorithm is completely and truly random.
People don't read anymore as it is. Maybe if you had an eBook only Tom Clancy novel come out or some Chicken Soup for the H4>0Rz S0ul, or something. ha ha ha.
One day back in 1998, I got a soundblaster AWE 64 and was installing it in my 486DX2 and I put it in and it didn't work, so I uninstalled all of the software, and reseated the card, and did it about another 2 times, and after about 3 hours of f*cking with it I realized that the reason I could not hear anything was because the speakers weren't plugged in.
I wonder if when you download a song you will get 1,000 pop-ups asking you to but a Performance Service plan in case your mp3's ever get erased or damaged.
Console games NEED dedicated servers. Especially with the amount of Clan activity happening on the consoles. For matches to be even remotley fair, there needs to be the ability to have a machine serve as a dedicated, or for the game company itself to provide dedicated servers. Bungie had dedicated servers up for Unreal Championship on Xbox for a long time, as did MS, and the gameplay was very fun. When they stopped those servers, the game became a non stop argument over lag, and clan matches became almost impossible.
Plus a lot of the younger gamers don't understand how lag and online latency and ping works, and many Xbox titles do not show your ping, so it gets frustrating to argue with peopl about things like that. Dedicateds that show ping would be the best.
What's next, will they cancell Fable too? I sure hope not. A lot of people will be greatly dissappointed, they had really been hyping that game for over a year.

I had seen that Blog before, on Blogger.com they always have a list of their top ten "Blogs of Note", and for about the last month or so, that blog has been up there, so anytime a blogger user is logged into the dashboard, it has a link to it. I tend ot favor looking at the 10 "most recently published blogs, or just typing in "somerandomthing.blogspot.com" and seeing what I get, I am sure that example is probably a blog too. ha ha ha.
This always reminds me of the analogy, it would be like me shooting someone and then that persons family suing Remington for making the gun. It is ridiculous. Comcast provides me access to the internet, it is not their job to hold my hand while I am online, or to give out my information based on speculation that I "MIGHT" be doing something wrong.
As far as them being art, they sure are. And I also think the are a sport. I would rather watch some professional gamers play against each other on TV than watch a baseball game or anything like that. I predict that in less than 20 years, gamers will make huge contracts and a lot of money playing for the masses.
I am sure no matter what the case, when speaking of space travel, and 6 month missions, the word "failed" is not very comforting. "Oh guys, don't worry, you'll be fine...'if' the other one doesn't do the same thing." lol
It probably is true that mot people don't put more than about 1,000 songs on their iPods, however the extra space is very nice, as the iPod can serve as a portable storage device, also storing other files. I like to know that I can use it to transport a large amount of data, as well as hold all of my music.
I am going to assume it was a mistake, based soley on Jar Jar Binks.Had Jar Jar not been in the prequels, I would have given Lucas the benefit of the doubt. But thanks for all of the useful info. I am a Star Wars Fan to the core, but I have not read the books, just seen the movies a few hundred times. It is nice to know I can always count on fellow Slashdoters to fill in the gaps for me!
Here's what I find the most funny. When Han is talking about the Millenium Falcon he says "This ship did the Kestle Run (or whatever it is called) in 12 Parsecs. Well, a Parsec is an astronomical until of length, so that is ridiculous, that would be like saying..."Whoa, that guy is so fast, he ran a Marathon in 4 miles."
It is just like everything else, it has it's peaks and valleys. True, there hasn't been that many things that have come out in the last few months that have been very impressive, but give it time.
In the last 5 years gaming had a few major hits, and great accomplishments, I loved Soldier of Fortune II on PC, Medal of Honor Series, Halo on Xbox and PC, and also the GTA games.
I don't like that people keep putting out articles called "The Death of BLAH BLAH OR BLAH"
There hasn't been much revolutionary in gaming, but that doesn't mean the end of anything, it just means that there is something very innovative and revolutionary right around the corner.
I don't think that console gaming will ever replace PC gaming for a few reasons.
One of them being, you can upgrade your PC's hardware anytime you choose, making it easy to play more advanced games as they are released. A console traps you with the same hardware for a few years, while newer and better games come out for computer, you are stuck playing the dumbed down ports, like happened with the Tom Clancy games, and with SOF2 (the Xbox version was horrible). Even though Halo came out first on the Xbox, it had no Online play, and the graphics were not as good as the PC version. They also added new maps and two new weapons to the PC version.
Buying a console is kind of like buying a laptop, you can do minor things to tweak and upgrade, but you're stuck with the same thing for a while. I like to upgrade video cards, etc. Also patches on games come out faster, and more frequently on PC, and give you the ability to "MOD" games, and create skins, etc.
Also sitting at a desk with a high res monitor is more comfy, and easier on the eyes. Not to mention that the mouse and keyboard it FAR FAR superior to the controller for accuracy and control in FPS games. And with more and more Online games coming out, the ability to be able to type freely is always a good thing. Hopefully most communication in games will soon go to strictly voice, but still.
PC games aren't going anywhere, they are the best in many ways, option wise, graphics are better, updated more, easier to control, can be patched more often, modded, can create custom maps, among many many other things.
I wonder if when you donwload a song from Wal-Marts online music store, does it Bleep out all of the swearing, or "expletives" as they would call them, like they do with ALL of the CD's they sell in their store. Anyone have any info on this?
*actually nowdays they don't bleep anything, it is usually replaced with 1.Silence, 2.The swearing just altered to sound all slurred and backwards. or 3. a girl moaning a sex sound (uggnnnhh)

They should do a survey asking how many of them lie on surveys. lol.

Yay! Now I get to have 250MB of spam to delete instead of 2MB!

Exactly. It will turn out like G4TV, one huge commercial.

Speaking of cr@ppy sequels, remember the Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, that was bad. ohh, and Weekend at Bernie's II.
