    iPod remote. I know there is a remote control for the iPod regulars. Can you use the same one for the minis? But the remote control isn't very small. of course you could always take it apart and put into a smaller case and mount it on the wheels...

    First of all, that's cool that people do that. I've wanted to do something similiar with my Miata, but too lazy to do so. So I gotta give the guy 'props' for doing this (did I use 'props' in the right context? I'm behind on my slang)

    But I think that's a whole lot of space to use for such a small device. I woulda made it in the corner or off to the side so i could use that storage space. But to each his own...

    They're probably refering to the right to free speech. A bunch of horse $hit. Just because they have a right to free speech, doesn't give them a right to install junk on my PC.

    but as a UK citizen I admit to not having read it as closely as a US citizen may have done
    but as a UK citizen you've probably read it more than most US citizens may have done.

    I'm not familiar with WhenU's software, but I find this hard to believe
    It is hard to believe, 'cause it isn't true. WhenU installs are also a pain in the arse to remove.

    My dad recently downloaded some desktop weather software (though I'm not sure why he wants to know the weather of his desktop), and this junk installed with it. I tried to duplicate the problem by installing on another machine, and was never informed that it [whenu] was installing. Luckily i tried it on a test VM, so I didn't get the pleasure of uninstalling twice.

    Our office probably gets more SPAM than ever. Just wish those SPAMers stop sending it to old user e-mails...
    Hmm, maybe if I send the SPAMers an e-mail to take off the old addresses, that may work...

    Maybe I should go back for my degree. Let's see, 4 years of schooling+books, etc. All for an extra $2k a year? Well, I'll stay as I am for now. Of course I understand that this is starting salary, but I didn't start too far behind that mark.

    Don't get me wrong, I believe in higher learning, and education, but it's just not for people like me. I tried a couple of times, but I never could seem to make it thru a whole semester.

    The solution to this is to not create an address that resembles a common name. In the year I've had my present work address, I have yet to receive a single piece of spam. If your name is Bill Smith, instead of bill@domain.com how about bismith@domain.com or b.smith@domain.com etc.
    I would think this is an easy fix if it really is a problem for you.

    Ok, to clarify for the people that take things to frickin literal:
    Don't give out your friggin e-mail address to people, unless you have business to do with them. Cricky, lighten the hell up.

    Yes it does help to solve the problem because spammers will less likely get your address. And I never said that you will eliminate all spam.

    Ummm.... then what good is it? Do you just e-mail yourself? :-)
    That's what I do :p When someone needs to give me information, I have them call me. Then I compose a message of what they need to tell me, and send it to myself. It's a simple process. Sure I waste time, but besides surfing /. acting like I'm reading articles that have to do with work, what else am I going to do in my cube... I do also try to find parts for my '52 Pontiac, but it's harder to make that look like work.

    As technology gets more complicated, so does the spam. The only way to protect yourself is to not give out your address. Period. Heck, I don't even give my work e-mail address to my parents.

    The problem is most Internet users do not know about these things. I think it is our responsibility to spread the word that our goverment is doing this. We need to spread the word come election day. I have a feeling that these types of things will surface with in 2 major elections, and internet security/freedom may become a polical issue..

    My point is that we would be able to get more information from the rocks and samples if we able to bring them back to Earth to study. I'm quite sure that the rovers have enough gadgets to study and get an overview of the samples, but what happens in 2 years when we discover a new method to study those samples? Are we going to send a rover every time?

    I don't mean to be rude, but what's the point? We know there is water, we know there are rocks. It's not like it can bring back samples. If the rovers were returning, that would be something. And could actually be benificial.
