I have a really cool
5 port 10/100 Switch with Uplink that come out-of-the-back with both a 5V DC plug & and cool little USB to DC plug.
So you can power it off the mains or if out in the field from the USB port on a laptop, I even powered it off my iRiver IH340. Which was pretty cool.
I just wish this could be done on all devices.
I work with Shitty Palm Zire 21,Zire 71, Zire 72,Treo 600, T3 & T5..., all with different power supplys and USB leads its a fucking joke....
I'v been doing this for years with my IRiver IHP-140 and now a IHP-340 No Crap software to load, plug it in and WinBlow/Linux/MacOS finds it as a Harddrive with no drivers to be installed.
I even use it in work with P2 & P3 systems and boot into Linux thought USB from it:) Works every time....
Running a Archive Backup on the NT4 & Novell 3 Server (Old but robust, Novell as life thought unaffected every Virus attack). Backing up DataBases from 20MB to 8Gigs...
You can easly open the files in WinRAR under windows and access them as easy as with Explorer....
Plus works on all OS.., from good old DOS / Novell put to Linux, Winblows, Mac OS.... etc.
Whats the Problem..., you can filter every file and the normal users (ID:10Tz) will still click on crap att./popups anyway hoping its a joke or funny video...
It's not a problem with the scanners/filters the problem is..
It's the only way to show them that the IT Dept. is a more valuable the you think....,
That the PC don't fix them self..,
Turn off the Firewall.., Spam Filter.., disconnect the internet connection...,
I used to work in a Computer Retail Shop and had repair / Test any hardware brought back.
The one of the weirdest things I was a PC that would not boot..., when I checked the Motherboard, I found the F%cker who insisted he was a IT Expert had cut his hand & 2 of the PCI slots and the AGP were covered in Blood....
Shorted the board out and blow a $799 graphics card.
But the biggest and most common people putting the full tube of heat sink gel ALL over the CPU...
I saw a AMD CPU covered 2 inches thick with Arctic Silver over BOTH sides of the chip....,
Or the half Melted Motherboard there the guy put DDR in the wrong way and the DIMM slot melted and the ram was black..., he them tried it in the other slot...!?!?!?!?!?
