That's odd. The show does a really good job of showing the levels of power in these kinds of organizations and a hit on a boss isnt something that is done lightly. Of all the characters, I would assume Tony is one of the safest because of his influence and position. The occasional mob war happens, but its usually the lower-level guys who get killed, not the bosses.

  3. Re:He's dead on The Sopranos Ends With a ... · · Score: 3, Insightful

No, what happened is that all the fanboys and fangirls wanted it to end with a big grisly bloody killing spree and Chase didnt let it happen. The suggestion here is that their lives go on but you dont get to watch them anymore. Plus not killing off the main Sopranos family opens the show up to movies.

The oranges, etc are red herrings. The show is full of red herrings. Not to mention that the show isnt from the POV of Tony, so going black doesnt mean the "camera" died.

Because life is full of compromises. Say you have a teen and a younger kid. Or a boy and a girl. Then parents need to know what system is the most diverse instead of locking in on whatever specialty marketing has decided.

Or they dont want to pay 250 for a wii right after they bought their kid a perfectly good DS last year for 150. In this market the Wii isnt competing with MS and Sony, but with the DS.

Or they think its gimmicky and silly.

Or they cant find the systems in stock except in 500 dollar "bundles."

Who knows, but there are lots of reasons why and suddenly crowing the Wii kind of the living room is being a little hasty.

Maybe even standardize on 4gigs on mid level PCs. Err no. Contrary to all the 'vista is eating my ram' reports, it turns out it doesnt use much more than XP and surprise surprise consumers dont want to pay an extra 70-120 dollars for that 1gig of OEM RAM (with markup of course).

This is just stupid simple minded greed.

  11. thats how recruiters operate on Shutting Down Annoying Recruiters? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Recruiters are clients of the companies they are trying to hire for. Ask them about the job, then get the company its for. Call that company's HR department and complain and tell them the recruiters they use are harassers. Ideally, if you expose these bottom feeders as being bottom feeders most rational people would drop them. What kind of candidates are they trying to get by using this method? Probably not very good ones.

These recruiters are incredible. I used a few a few years back and I STILL get a phone call 3 or 4x a month from a breathless desperate guy who really needs to fill soem shit 2-week temp contract. I also submitted a resume or two fairly recently only to find they went through a recruiter who told me that job doesnt exist anymore and offered me to interview for some temp job. Bait and switch?

The industry really needs to take a good look at recruiters in general. I cant see them being more efficient than in-house hiring.

While the rest of us were hearing the dissent and how painfully obvious there werent going to be any WMs foundD in Iraq from NPR, the farkers were going crazy over MSNBC and Foxnews and LGF and Rush Limbaugh. There's no shortage of "liberal media" comments at fark. Those people wouldnt touch chomsky with a 100 foot pole.

I wouldnt mind reading about how much money he makes from posting all those rightwingnews and newsmax articles and how he feels about paid links. That's like investing money in a -great- bank. Some people believe in eternal reward. That's an amazing bank! Others say its the civilized way to be, fine, but if they do something its because they fear being uncivilized. Others just do it for the taxes. And I'm sure a bazillion other reasons (many of which are not greedy), but basic greed guides us more than we care to admit.

In video a few minutes is barely the intro. And the sensationism that usually goes with televised news. and the 3 minute weather report. I dont need a 3-minute weather report. I just put my zipcode into weather.com. Not to mention, like a lot of people, I cant even watch streaming video at work.

The basis of learning guitar (in the beginning) has a lot more to do with holding down chord "shapes" well, listening for muted strings, and changing between chords with your left hand. GH does none of this, nor should it.

Real guitar students should spend that 90 dollars on a decent teacher who can help them with the fundamentals, which are difficult to get from just a book or website. Sounds like your friend could really benefit from a weekly session with a teacher.

Not to mention there's a lot of love lost with Sony in various industries. This may hurt them in the long run.

Things look at lot like the xbox360 vs ps3 war going on right now. One side had a cheaper player while the other has a more expensive but more powerful device. If walmart ends up selling these things cheaply along with HDTVs then no one will care about the technical differences in the format and just go with whats more affordable. The same way people bought VHS instead of Beta.
