last ditch effort
Since when has Microsoft been making last ditch efforts? They're the most powerful and successful software company in history. Nope, I'm not seeing a last ditch effort there.
The ending of the series was horribly. It reminds me of the (temporary) ending to Sherlock Holmes series: The main character gets killed, probably just so people stop bugging the author about extending the series.
I think she actually lived in Milwaukie, Oregon. That's the other side of the Willamette River. At least, I know that my school (Milwaukie High School) has the dubious distinction of being Tonya Harding's high school.
I don't have any experience in this area, but wouldn't PovRay be horribly slow? After all, it's a ray tracer, not a grapher. Also, I remember using "Graphing Calculator" in my wonderful days as a PowerMac user. It's best features, to me, are in it's wonderful function editing. Povray doesn't even deal with the area.
As long as I can keep downloading Linux distros, I have no sympathy for movie downloaders. Come on, people. You don't need a third of the Internet bandwidth so you can watch movies for free.
Linus announces that Linux has been ported to a new architecture - the human brain. Network connectivity graciously supplied by the people over at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
There was a sopeana. What are they going to do, lay down in front of the servers in protest? Come on, no sane company is going to resist the force of a court unless they enjoy heavy fines.
But are all cars designed by the same community? Really, the OSS community should stop doing extra work and start concentrating on one masterpiece per need. Some might say it's "like Microsoft," but one reason many people don't switch to Linux is the dizzying array of choices.
A Scientific American article recently observed that people's satisfaction rises when there are only a few choices, but drops quickly when the choices multiply. I think this effect contributes to people not adopting Linux.
The point is that the default search engine for IE is MSN, whereas Firefox has a default search engine of Google. Google would, therefore, naturally have a greater percentage of Mozilla users than the web as a whole. Ebay, on the other hand, is visited by a wide range of browsers and would be more representative of the true statistics.
What the hell??!!!???
Oh, and why "set-o pipefail"?

XORP 1.0 Released
·
· Score: 1
(incidentally, I find the project fairly interesting, with the noted lack of redistribution ability.:( Hopefully, this is something that will come along in the next version (maybe?).)
Yes, an some sort of automated update (assuming that's what you mean) would be crucial to XORP. I mean, who can really say they write totally secure code? It would be good to set up an updates system, probably using delta patching. No point in making a Microsoftesce mistake.
Complete agreement! It's much easier and readable. It would be great if MS used that for Visual Basic, instead of the ugly End If construct. Much more comfortable for people who have to work with VB every once and a while. Some people get too attached to the English language.
These countries might also create a significant demand of their own, as we're seeing in the oil market today. I think if the big US companies start basing their revenues on a potentially unstable source requiring materials (hardware), we may be seeing the US finding an "evil dictator" of Taiwan or China, then invading it and quietly taking over hardware production. Reminds me of another current conflict....
I smell a challenge to meaningful competition. It's already bad enough with the stagnant IE; now many, many more products may be left behind by lazy vendors.
Unfortunately, MS doesn't have to use a standard because it has, more or less, a monopoly in this market. Maybe the EU could force Microsoft to use an open standard? And work with competitors to improve filters and interoperability? IMHO, this would be much more damaging to MS's grip on the market than just a fine.
One the other hand, I'm not sure if the politically liable EU has the guts to do this.;-)
- IMHO, great print subsystem (kprinter/cups) -- certains aspects of W2k/XP seemed umm.. hacked on (ie usb printer setups)
I beg to differ. I've been having problems with my printer lately on Mandrake. Unlike in XP, where a printer icon waits in the tray, I had to go through. Cups is great - if you're on a network with print services with a Linux guru available. I'd like it if there was one program I could go to to access all the print configuration. Next version?
Still, the print system is excellent - great output and wonderful if I need to print remotely (like from work/school). It just needs some loose ends tidied up.
Hmmmm, and he actually does/did use Linux for his website. Same with John Kerry and the Democratic Party. That's one of the many reasons SCO might have trouble if they try the Congress route. That and their arguments are hypocritic. Maybe someone should to pass a law requiring SCO to do something annoying, like proving their case.
I rather disagree with you. I have ADD (but not ADHD), and have worked extensively with an excellent neurologist. But that's not all. I also have minor epilepsy that is now under control, and they're obviously related; my seizure start in my right frontal lobe, the part of the brain that handles organization.
I've been successful with an anti-depressant that also helps with ADD. I'm not sure how it's spelled, but it's something like Elivil.
So no, I'm not just a "naughty child." I'm a fairly successful teen (I'm in several AP classes). Try not to just stereotype.

Haven't you heard the good and/or bad news?

It's not like they didn't know that many of their torrents were illegal.

But probably not new

In case you didn't noticed, OS X isn't very flexible. I haven't seen it put into handhelds or digital watches (yep, those nerds can do anything)
Don't get me wrong, I love Apple's OS, it's definitely easier to use and looks much cleaner.
-PingvenoWhy would Apple even need to support an older OS with a newer system (G5)? Each Mac comes with the newest OS.
