You seem to have missed the fact that he was excommunicated from the LDS church. The "Mormon" religion doesn't condone or practice polygamy, just because one guy does it doesn't mean the church does. He is off point completely...
Also parts of that "news article" are obviously against the church. Parts like "the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the mainstream Mormon Church prefers to be called" is just one example, the LDS churches registered name is indeed "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" and they try to make it sound like they just like being called that for some odd reason or some other stupidity, whatever... it just angers me when people say they are all polygamists when clearly it isn't true
I think the reason for bi-pedal robots is to cross terrain like jungle and swamp. Military application is probably the driving force in how robots are going to be designed for the future.
Not driving your car or getting up during commercials is different than downloading music, in the sense that when you get up you aren't taking any goods you are just refusing to watch programed advertisments. This is much different than actively taking something, you are recieving something both ways but one way you asked for it and the other you didn't. If you want it you have to pay for it, that is true in most cases.
(sorry for spelling errors and bad grammar, I gota go)
On the flip side, has anyone considered what VoIP telemarketing spam would be like? Would the "do not call" list still apply? It would be very interesting to see a spammer initiate several thousand calls and only handle the ones that answer... No longer limited by the number of outgoing trunks...
I use a VoIP for my phone instead of traditional phone line from a telco. I dont get telemarketing calls since my number isn't registered and cant be put in the phone book. My local phone company publishes the phone book (Qwest) and I dont think it would be possible to list my number.
If it did come down to it I think there should be a law setup like cell phones, it costs me money to accept calls (if I use enough bandwidth) so I shouldn't have to pay extra to get harrassed. I think that should be a standard so telemarketing calls wont affect me.
Well even if he is innocent, who would the courts believe? a child on his death bed? or an accused molester?
It's pretty much a losing situation for Michael either way, after all it is just circumstantial evidence and the verdict will be decided based on testimony and not "evidence".
I think Michael is just a weird guy but I don't think he "molested" any child. He's just strange and probably hugged and treated the kids like he wanted to be treated as a child. Of course that's a bit weird if you aren't related, any child could mistake it for a sexual act. Did any of you see that special about Michael? They made him look insane! When he said certain things they would do voiceovers with words like "chilling" and played eerie music. If I were Michael I would have sued them because they obviously went there to make him look crazy.
I thought I was the only one angered by all the stupid insane theories as to how it happened!
Seriously, this really proves that the slashdot crowd isn't much more than a bunch of "hacker" wanna be kiddies that want to look cool because they read slashdot..
sometimes these posts make me want to scream... the only thing that stops me is the looks I'd get from my coworkers..
Well I guess I just have a different mind set, I dont buy products that I dont like. Even if there isn't any better alternative. A few years ago I didn't like what many web hosting providers provided so I started my own business and it worked out for me. If I had to I'm sure I could start an ISP without limitations. I have alot of friends in high places that could sway a market and investors my way.
I doubt the internet could be limited like that, ever. Personaly I think there are enough people to start a new internet if the need arose heh.
I've actually been looking into getting a t3 and then reselling the bandwidth using wireless routers and all of that. I'm sure I could do the same around the US and no one could regulate me (until I got big enough that is). I dont know, I'm just saying I dont think a move like this could go on without any type of revolt.
1. I'm a high school drop out. 2. My mother dosen't have much of an education (I dont know where my father is. 3. I grew up in a "violent" neighborhood, I would hear sirens and gun shots almost every night. 4. My mother never owned guns but I did.
I'm now a successfull programer and I've never had an urge to shoot up a school or anyone in fact. I would more likely kick someones ass if I were angry, shooting people is much different.
Your assumptions tell me your a stupid ass white boy who thinks he knows it all. You obviously haven't had enough life experience to make a judgment. I suggest you go back to playing your video games and leave the debating to the big kids.
Also in reality, the kids that shoot up schools are social outcasts that other students shun. They want to get revenge on all the people that did them wrong, it isn't an issue about games or anything a parent has control over. Sure if a parent is supportive and loves their child I'm sure they would have a different mindset but it is ultimately the individuals decision.
I seriously doubt any ISP would do this, I'm sure if they all decided to do this a bright individual will start an ISP and say "we dont do this" and everyone would swarm to them. Other companies would follow trend and it would be back to normal.
The thing about business is you can't sell a product people are not satisfied with. No one would deal with a slow up speed because of games, webpage uploads, and countless other things (especially since it is a global system).
Some networks may be forced to block certain ports, but if ports are blocked there could be yet again oposition. The internet is a weird thing, you cant really govern what it is used for and what is contained on it.
Piracy will allways be an issue and I think that users are liable and not the company/person that created the software. Personaly I share tons of music and movies on kazaa, I protect myself by using peerguardian and a few other methods to keep certain people/organizations away from me. I dont listen or watch many of the movies but I do it because I like to share. RIAA is gona get me!
Apache is not an operating system, apache is much more simple. Comparing market use of an OS and a web server is like comparing apples and oranges, you cant compare them and end up with a logical argument.
It is true that most exploits are going to be found on software that is being run the most. Mainly because it's there, how often do you see someone find an exploit for something like beOS? that's because only a limited amount of people use beOS so people really dont bother.
Instead of moding you insightful it should have been troll, you obviously dont like windows and your just another fanboy out there thats saying "this is another reason windows sucks" (I run plenty of linux servers and a few windows ones, never been compromised. OS dosen't matter, it's about making it secure)
The reasoning behind leaving all services enabled by default is so that users dont have to go in and tinker with things when a new program comes out that uses that service.
It's really a trade off between user friendlyness and security. I think more people like user friendlyness.
You cant make a logo for "hackers" because most of these "hackers" dont even know what a "hacker" is!
I dont know, I bet you dont know either! I hack code to make it work how I want, but am I a hacker because of that? I guess not since some people say I have to break into stuff to hack. Maybe I'm just being stupid but I really think a logo is quite a stupid idea. No one even knows what hacking is anymore so it would be pointless to "unify" them if they each have different goals and ethics.
I hate it when people say radio waves are going to kill us and our unborn children. We are hit with radiation from the sun and lots of other enviromental radiations, fumes and countless other things that dont affect us. We've been using radio signals and lots of other types of waves for quite a while, why would it start affecting us now?
I live in a big city and I dont have any headaches from any waves, in my experience the majority of headaches are caused by worrying, and some physical reasons as well.
is it just me or is there nothing wrong with how everything there is...
1. Voting hasnt helped us "free" people much.
2. Criminals deserve torture, you're in prision for a reason.
3. So they dont have riots? thats bad?
4. I hear they just accept many religions into their own religion so does it really matter what they call themselves?
5. I dont think telling women how many children they can have in an already crowded place is very violent. There has to be some type of limit before they all run out of resources.
6. Once again, why do prisoners need rights? also, americans are lazy and weak and expect everyone to be the same. Maybe the reason the chinese get so much done is because their workers work longer hours in more hazardous fields(less cost).
I just dont see why everyone thinks china and all those other places are inhumane, I guess its just how I was raised... everyone pulls their own weight and dosent complain...
I'm sure that napster/otherlegalp2pnetworks will put up servers to serve music that is available for download (the users that already downloaded it will only add to the speed and lower their cost)
I think that if we're paying for it there will allways be what we are looking for with good quality and available all the time
I would pay just to get CD quality music, I hate downloading music that is horrible quality and has problems. Since they dont need to pay for bandwidth their prices SHOULD be cheaper. And maybe if its just a monthly fee for unlimited downloads it would be pretty good.
Only problem I see is, I'm not going to be able to find music from every artist I'm looking for. there has to be some way to get everyone into it...
telemarketers usually call because you are a current customer or have been a customer in the past. I used to telemarket for Columbia House Music and I made tons of sales because I wasn't some random company, I was a company they had been with in the past.
anyway, I hate people that are angry about telemarketers... just tell them "put me on your do not call list" before they have a chance to bother you
also, I dont get telemarketing calls except from my phone company and cable company but I dont mind because they dont call me during dinner (who eats dinner at their table with their family anyway? I thought us americans were against family values...)
the reason companies dont like upgradable AV components is because they would rather release a new product that would cost money (instead of an upgrade that most likely would be free)
also companies that release new products with more compatability to standards will get more sales, so if they add them from the start then the customers will follow
In IE the option for their search engine can be turned off (not hard to do in fact)
verisign dosent give you an option, in fact it causes problems of all kinds... anyway, I wonder how long till some "hacker" hijacks the site and runs that active X exploit that I'm sure thousands havent patched (another big PR problem for M$ probably)...
I'm sure if an american company launches a new product that will be news to the world other countries say something like "america releases new gizmo"
since we live here we dont need to know it was released here...
oh they probably just have in house lawyers for little things like this :D

I really cant believe even when microsoft has nothing to do with anything it is still blamed for security flaws.
When will all you fanboys learn that blaming SCO and Microsoft for anything wrong isn't "cool".
