OK, I gotta hear the answer on this one. Name me a music store that is cheaper than iTMS, where you can get un-DRMed music that you can keep.

If you look at my first post I never said I wanted non-DRM music. I want native support for my Rio music player. In order to play music from iTMS I have to burn a CD and then re-encode.

As I said before I like iTMS because of the great interface. I also download music from Walmart. At 88 cents a download, it is cheaper than iTMS and the format is supported on my portable. The DRM isn't too restrictive and the audio quality is great.

Burn protected AAC to CD Media

Yes I could do that but it is just one more step I must do in order to play the music I purchased on my non-ipod player. I purchase music online because it is convenient. This is not convenient.

I'm sad to say that Apple may once again lose to Microsoft. Microsoft's DRM hasn't been cracked yet. If this continues the major labels may decide to back Microsoft and shun Apple.

I do not have any problems with Apple's implementation of DRM except only supporting the iPod. I love the ITMS. Finding the music I want is much easier for me than some other sites I have used.

I'm torn between supporting Apple, a company I respect, or using another music service where I can get my music cheaper and supports my portable player.

Is there an anti-gay bias in the media, sure. When people do not understand something they tend to not talk about it.

So, any time someone says gays are just a bunch of promiscuous, stupid sinners, ask them if they've ever heard of Alan Turing

This is not true for most homosexuals. This is also not true for most heterosexuals. The fact however is that the crazy minority get all of the attention. This is true for all groups of people.

And expect to spend a lot of time doing your own support. This includes troubleshooting hardware issues, shipping out your own hardware for warranty requests, and waiting with no machine until they return.

I build systems for myself and often for family and friends. When my parents needed a new computer and I was at college I suggested getting a Dell. Big mistake.

According to my parents the computer worked fine for a few days but then they heard a clicking noise when the computer was turned on. Of course they called me and needed help. I could hear the noise over the phone and knew it was a defective hard drive.

After they called tech support in India five times they decided it was a bad power supply. I come home from spring break and the power supply is there waiting to be installed. I asked why they sent a power supply. Now I was stuck calling tech support and begging for a new hard drive. I could tell the people at the other end were reading a script. I finally convinced them after three calls the hard drive was bad and they sent a new part.

The moral of this long story. If you know how to troubleshoot/repair computers build your own. You may save money, you may not. At least you will have some control over the repair/replacement of parts.

With the release of Windows 2000, many companies, including mine, upgraded our workstations. With the release of Windows XP a year of so later we saw no reason to upgrade. This is why I believe Microsoft is taking their time with the release of Longhorn. This theory has a flaw because today's hardware won't run Longhorn efficiently from what I have seen. Scratch that theory, I don't know what the hell Microsoft is doing.

By the time 2006 comes around our Windows 2000 workstations will probally be running Linux.
