    It just takes a little practice. I've learned most of my Verilog on the job, and recently I had to explain it to one of our co-ops.

    The non-procedural Verilog vs. procedural C did confuse her for a little while, but she caught on pretty quickly just like I did.

    You just have to take a little time to explain what "=" is versus "<=".

    In most (maybe all) companies, whatever "cool tools" or ideas you develop, while working towards some other goal, are owned by the company.

    In this situation, the company would be the tax-paying public. Why should this situation be any different?

    Actually, many cases sport USB plugs on the front panel now. It's very convenient.

    The egg yolk thing is not an application. It's an experiment. They are not going to try to sell these probably very expensive machines to slice eggs open.

    Long and Short, CD sales rose while Napster was in operation and have now leveled off and even decreased.

    I don't really see how this statement can be proven either way. However, the decline of Napster has coincided with the decline of our (US) economy. I think that the state of the economy has more to do with it.

    First of all, arcades have been dying for years.

    I always got the impression that arcades are still very popular in Japan and other parts of Asia. Sega would still need machines for over there.

    Gee, imagine that.

    Real insightful.

    I've worked in various groups for the company I'm currently with, and one of the most productive, creative groups I worked for had the highest percentage of Nerf wars of any gruop I've been with.

    It breaks up the monotony. Of course, most of the time you want to be able to concentrate on your work, but I know if I stare at the same problem for too long, I go into a zombie mode. Nothing like a small Nerf football whizzing past your head to bring you out of that.

    For any user of Gamespy, you know what it's like to wait for servers to load.

    Amen to that. Gamespy has so many "features" now that I can hardly figure out where the hell the server listings are.

    Side note: I recently tried out the All-Seeing Eye server browser to find WolfMP servers. I am very impressed with the speed and interface. Plus it auto-updates itself.

    You could then have a script that catches a change in your ip and removes that rule from your ruleset.

    However, I have seen some discussion about this already, and this doesn't seem to do any good except for stressing ipchains/iptables with a lot of rules. I guess it will keep your httpd logs smaller.

    I don't think that Sandra scores would tell you anything exciting. I don't think that a synthetic benchmark will show you the advantages of something like this. Real world apps will probably show which kind of programs can benefit from this.

    You can get a 40 gig ide hard drive for $80 according to http://www.pricewatch.com, and a removable drive bay for $25 from http://www.buy.com.

    (I mention the 40 gig because it seems to be the best gig/$ ratio)
