Seems like every time Congress has to "do something to save energy", they fiddle with DST. Does anybody ever show how much energy this actually saves? Using a recent study, based on modern buildings that have shaded windows and fluorescent lights running all the time, as opposed to factories lit by skylights, which was probably what they invented this for? My guess is we'd save a lot more energy by requiring everyone to carpool one day a month. But we can't do that, that would be too inconvenient. So we do this instead...

I had a conversation with a friend at lunch during which I said "Look on the bright side...after this, GWB can never serve as US President again". Her reply: "...at least not until he amends the Constitution to fix that little loophole."
What I love with English is the ability to turn nouns into verbs and vice-versa without shocking anybody (and without even needing to be in Soviet Russia).
It's a paraphrase from Hamlet, iii. 2: "Oh, it offends me to the soul to hear a robustious, periwig-pated fellow tear a passion to latters, to very rags, to split the ears of the groundings... it out-herods Herod."
What does this quote reference?
"Some of you may find it odd that I am defending Linus here. After all, he and I had a fairly public "debate" some years back. My primary concern here is getting trying to get the truth out and not blame everything on some teenage girl from the back hills of West Virginia."
The tags don't give your name away, but your credit card does. Personally, I use cash whenver it's not too incovnenient, but the mjoriy of purchases, especially those over $40, are made with credit cards. The store then has the ability to see what RFID tags you bought (along with the products) and see where you take them.
How about anonymous, pre-paid debit cards then? I'd use 'em, if only to help enforce my personal budget. I think they were tried before as "e-cash", but the smart cards never caught on here (US). But you could implement it using the current technology.
In order to realize these putative 5 year savings (assuming I make a decision this year), I have to run Win2K until 2009. Hmmm... NT 4.0 only lasted 6 years.

What are the most difficult hurdles for a manager geek to jump
Going out to lunch with other managers. 'nuff said.
Why don't they build the phones with differential mikes? Then they could turn up the gain, and people wouldn't have to shout.
What is the english word that means that someone has a beautiful butt. Looking for the real definition, not some slang.

Karl Rove can get Jeb elected too...
Once they regulate it, they can tax it. Believe me...once they see the six-figure checks for the first flights going around, they'll want their cut.
But that would imply levying a tax only on rich people.
Wireless is insecure. That's not the users' fault. It's your fault. First one to make it secure makes a billion dollars.
Nope, first one to get it on the market makes a billion dollars. That's why it's insecure.
I use an old Pentium 100 laptop for this. It's nice having a battery in the server as well.

I thought it was a reference to Lindie England.

I thought the opposite of "broadband" was "baseband".

All kidding aside, ehh. She is sharing illegal files. She got caught. I'm not really seeing the "Shock and Awe" about this news article.
And Jean Valjean stole a loaf of bread.
