Maybe it is Kong 6/16... I honestly don't know 100% off the top of my head. I know one of them is a Kong but I don't remember which. I think King 5 has some news anchor girl who I am sure at some point used to be pretty cute. Not she looks rolled hard and put away wet. I am wondering if they are even putting makeup on the chick.
But when it comes to hype, everything is hyped up here. Awhile back there was a news story involving 6 kids being removed from school one day. No one gave any statements as to why. Not one teacher, police official or parent gave the reasons why. They just said the 6 kids were pulled outta school. So of course it isn't news worthy but since everything is hyped up here they had to add "no word if drugs were involved or not but speculation proves that it is a possibility." I am pretty sure that is how it went.
frivolous to me. How much could you really sue them for without looking like a money hog? The price of the X-Box when you had purchased it? Sueing for any amount over 400 dollars would just make the guy look money hungry and striving for a reason.
Grievance? Hardly. His X-Box broke and I am sure it is repairable. How long is the warranty on one of these things? Or did he violate his warranty with one of the many many hacks for the X-Box and is now upset?
To me this seems very very very frivolous and I am surprised it made the front page news of slashdot.
So I read this article and I have gathered a few things by actually reading:
1. Titan is not smooth
2. They have no clue what any of it is
I also find it no shock that scientists are "baffled", "shocked" and "confused." Here on our very planet there are things that are still being explained.
A few weeks here in Washington, Mount Saint Helen's was at a level 3 alert. All of the sudden, the mountain started doing things that scientists had no clue could happen. (Don't ask me what they are, I was just watching the news. Believe me, that mountain blowing its top is really of no concern to a majority of the population up here. Kiro7, King 5 and Kong 4 all say differently)
Holy crap! Scientists confused over a simple volcano!? Impossible, and there are all over the earth! I guess it comes of no shock to me any possibilities out there. Titan smooth? Why not?! Possible floating organic matter? WHY NOT!? It would never shock me, only intrigue me.
Reasonably if you want a 100 dollar computer you have to decide from the start you have no desire to run any system intensive software.
Now the 100 dollar computer with reasonably fast access speed?
You have to limit the OS to a watered down version of a full version. What are you looking at though? One hundred dollars for a computer which usually includes software. No sane layman is gonna buy a software-less computer for 100 bucks.
Basically the computer in question, the PC99, has very limited hardware but it uses the internet for all of its software needs. You connect to your own interface really. Of course in this movie they use 3D-Transparent-Hologram's and Laser-Guided-Desktop-Movement. A little futuristic but the idea is there. You have a computer with a processor, ram and a network interface and you basically download everything you see and use for read/write access.
So it would be good for word processing and internet/email but scratch any intentions to play intensive games or use intensive applications.
Everyone says this and that about IE. A good portion of it is true and some not true. User error can't be counted out. If you download a virus without virus checking it, then yes you just got screwed.
However my friends... there is a solution. Mozilla. See I used to be a fanatical IE5.0+ user. I defended it to the ends of the earth. Then ofcourse my buddy showed me what mozilla could do. I am so damn addicted to tabbed browsing. I would say the main reason I switched a good while back was that Mozilla had a built in pop-up blocker and IE didn't.
Another interesting switch story was that of my fiance. She used IE 6 for a great deal of time. I tried to get her to switch but she never wanted too... that is until, the trojans started happening.
Her virus checker was finding about 6-7 trojans a day and she could never figure out why. So I switch her to Mozilla to see what happens. After 3 months she has not had one trojan. Not one. I think that says alot in itself. As minorly thrilled about Mozilla as she is, I can say she is happier that her computer is now virus free.
Well since he is moving to Sirrius, he will no longer be apart of the rating system since you pay to listen. The current system is setup for AM and FM broadcasts in their respective markets for their respective time slots.
I think Howard Stern is making a good move to show his appriciation to censorship reform. He is moving his broadcast to a format where he can say and do all the things he used to be able to do and not get fines slapped on him or risk the FCC revoking his parent stations license.
However there is a downside which is the obvious fee you have to pay in order to listen. Some people are diehard fans, others not so much. I think the real thing to look for is whether his moves kicks off a trend among other Talk Show Hosts.
I would like to add that I believe the FCC censors what you say to much when it comes to on air broadcasts. Here is the kicker....
The new show directed toward women called Desperate Housewives showed things on cable television that on air DJ's can't even describe. They are not allowed due to FCC regulation. Seems kinda one-sided that a female driven show can get away with showing scenes that children can actually see but a man driven radio talk show can't even describe the acts.
It just goes to show you who is in control in the end. Between hardcore feminists applying pressure in all the right places, the male market of radio broadcasting is getting the shaft left and right. When you have to walk on egg shells to avoid fines and have your producer ready to hit the dump button any chance they get, that is when you know the rights the first amendment upholds are being wrongfully ignored.
Some people say what Howard Stern, Tom Leykis and other radio talk show hosts say are lewd, discriminatory and raunchy. However they are technically empowered to say such things so long as it doesn't fall under the lines of slander.
More importantly if you don't like it, change the station. No one is forcing you to listen. In fact the ultimate act of rebellion against a DJ you don't like is to not listen. It hinders their ratings. Then of course people bring up kids. I will say this... if you aren't monitoring what your kids are listening too then you are a crap parent and shouldn't have had a kid to begin with.
Lets not let the FCC put such harsh regulations on broadcasted free speech. Pretty soon we are gonna end up like Canada and not have a protected form of free speech.
ADDICTION - compulsive need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; broadly : persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be harmful
It is in my opinion, that by today's social standards, nearly everyone is looking for a scandal the might lead to any amount [big or small] of media attention.
Bush versus Gore in the presidential election of 2000. Was the system screwed up? Sure. How much media attention did it receive and how many people stay glued to the TV for hours upon hours awaiting a decision from Florida? Too many.
Ellen DeGeneres admitted to being gay and publicly announced it on TV during an episode of her TV show Ellen. Have we honestly heard the end of it?
So here we have this kid who played Socom for hours on end. His need for playing has been dubbed an addiction. How? Did it ruin his grades in school? Did he get fat in such a way it became a health hazard? Did he become moody and violent due to lack of social interaction? Did it start to ruin his life so that his future looked so bleek he needed professional help to save him?
First off, I am gonna point a finger or two at the parents. I am going to assume that he played late at night on a school night. With that assumption, what the hell kind of parent lets their kid stay up till 2am for example to play a video game? More importantly, was this late night playing having a direct effect on his grades and school attendance? If so, why didn't they step in. If not, why the big deal?
Scandal is the answer. "My son is addicted to video games. Oh hey look my name is listed in an article on the internet with a troubled child."
It is kinda like the kids who shot and killed that girl. They were shooting at cars passing on a road because they supposedly thought it was okay because you could do it in Grand Theft Auto. Nevermind the fact that the game has a listing for extreme violence and adult content. Nevermind that the parents were not watching their kids behavior. It is Rockstar's fault for making such a violent video game and therefore must me sued for a few billion dollars. Two hundread billion if I am not mistaken.
Scandal. It isn't the fact that you can blame yourself for being a bad parent. However if you can point responsibility elsewhere then it is a goldmine. My child is addicted because I won't pay attention to his behavioral pattern until it is two late.
It is in my opinion (but strong opinion) that many parents today are parents because it was the order of things. Go to college, get married, have kids. They completely disregard the responsibility that you own when you take on this endeavor. For 18 years you claim the responsibility for your childs actions as a direct result of your parenting ability. This technically goes on for life. You as a parent build and mold the childs persona by giving them the environment to grow up in.
I thank my lucky stars I had good parents. When I tried my hand at 20 straight hours of the original Metroid, come hour five my mom stepped in. Made me shut the game off and go outside. Why? Because I played the game for 5 straight hours and I was 8 years old! When I tried watching TV all day for a whole summer. My mom came in and shut the TV off and told me to go outside. Why? Because she was keeping her child from falling into a life of apathy.
Scandal my friends. Don't blame yourself for your lack luster abilities. Blame someone else so it looks like you are taking a proper and just step.
Lets even get started on the kids and Columbine. Who's parents not only allowed their kids to make videos with violent nature and threats and listen to socially distorted music but allowed them to buy and keep multiple guns in the house.

I wouldn't know if blowjobs lead to money or not. I am not hip on the knowledge of the drug market and how things work. About all I know is what I have seen in movies, and what little amount I have experimented with.
I think this campaign is living in the past too much. We are so into the details of how the war took place and what we were lied to about that we are forgetting the real issues.
1. Iraq is our responsibility. I don't care what someone did or didn't do. I want to know what they are gonna do with Iraq from this point forward. We broke the country and now we need to fix it. Should the person with the most experience with the whole endeavor finish his agenda? Or should the person with a fresh idea try act out the exit strategy?
2. North Korea; how should we go about handeling them? Kerry thinks he can go talk to them and get the weapons at the same time. Or so he said. Does he plan on involving China since it is their backyard? I would like to see detailed assessments from both candidates.
3. (My own personal issue) I would like to see the candidates stress their opinions on Union Labor and frankly I am in favor of the candidate who would lift restrictions from Union Labor. I imagine it is Kerry but it is hard to say with all the stance switching. Infact, I haven't heard either candidate talk about Labor Reform, unless I flat out missed something completely.
I work early hours. Usually up at 5am to start getting ready for work. The first tasks of the morning are to brew a pot of coffee and smoke a cigarette. We already know nicotine among other chemicals in cigarettes is addictive. I just wanna talk about my coffee.
I procede to drink the whole pot which totals out three cups of coffee. (It is a small Braun) I have to have these cups to actually function properly throughout the morning and the rest of the day. Cigarettes will not compensate for the lack of caffine. I have tried and I still carry the "slack" feeling.
Upon walking int he door after a hard 8 hour day at work, my first order of business is to make another pot of coffee. I typically make two so I might share the pot with my fiance. I have to have this pot of coffee to continue to operate the rest of the night without the tired feeling.
As a result of some experimentation. Here is what happens if I cut out coffee for one week.
Day One: 1. Extreme sluggishness throughout most the morning.
2. Trouble concentrating
3. By noon time I experience a jittery feeling. I smoke extra cigarettes to try and ease this feeling. Anxiety is the best way to describe this.
4. By evening I am suffering from a rather uncomfortable headache. Swallowed two asprin without any effect to the headache. It would not subside. Even tried this experiment at a later date with ibuprofin with the same result as asprin.
Day Two: 1. All the same symptons but to a considerably lesser degree. Headache not so bad if not non-existant.
2. Cigarette smoking increased
Day Three: 1. Only the sluggish feeling in the mornings which remained for the remainder of the week.
2. Coffee smells exceptionally good, even better than when taking it on a regular basis.
So my summary in the end is that there is not a strong addiction but more of an intense dependancy. There is still the pull or twinge to want a cup of coffee to alleviate all side-effects. In a later experiment the headache vanished within 10 minutes of drinking two cups of coffee.
So as a conclusion the addiction that I felt was the need to end the side effects that were ailing me. I still continue my morning ritual as I love the taste of coffee in a variety of forms. That and the pick-me-up aspect in the morning is very welcome. I have to be fully aware as an electrician. I cannot afford any mistakes when working with live or potentially live wires. In my trade we treat wires like guns. Even though you know it is not loaded, you treat it as if it were loaded.
That is a general attitude shared among many service electricians. Especially after getting shocked in some of the worst ways possible.
Seriously... Think about this. Druggies have already proved they'll pay just about any price to feed their habit
Care sharing your ideas on how to tax a druggie who gave a blowjob for some crack rock? Or gave their child for a week of heroine? I am dying to hear the details!;)
Bill Gates has given a load of cash away in one year. That is alot of money. More importantly he gave it to organizations that save peoples lives not to plant foundations or animal rights groups. The money he has given has saved probably thousands of lives.
Regardless of how you feel about his business tactics, his history is far more saintly than any drug dealer is mentioned in replies. You cannot compare how he runs a business to an individual who deliberately gives people chemicals that literally destroy both mind and body.
I am not saying I am thrilled about how he has run Microsoft from beginning to present, but what he has done is far less evil than the compared scum of the earth.
Think how you want, but it is a twisted reality. I commend the man for what he has given, because he didn't have too. No one twisted his arm. Taxes are a flash in the pan compared to his billions. For once can't someone who is anti-microsoft just clap you hands for some good they do.
doesn't even exist. It is a scam that can't even come up with names to the consensus.
What? Don't believe me?
Here's my proof
It even comes with sources for you who like to disprove. We will face Global cooling before the infamous desert world Global Warming portrays.
As for the wrong leg amputation, it all depends on the circumstances involved. I seriously doubt that happens commonly.
Blood Transfusions are a risky business and are treated with supreme care but unfortunately human error is involved. However, if you receive the wrong type of blood you will know immediately. Within the first 6 seconds to couple minutes upon the start of the transfusion. It is rare that someones dies from this as it can be counteracted almost immediately. Doctors don't just hook ya up and leave ya alone. There is someone there to watch you. I know this for a fact as it happened to an uncle. In regards to neo-natal, it is rare they give the kid some blood off the rack, in fact they will use parental blood typically so long as there is a match.
the harmless vaccine could be the result of a severe allergic reaction to a mixture that is rarely found allergic by anyone. It is a rare case and unexpectedly happens. How does someone know they are allegic to Sulfa or Bee's. They don't know until they take it.
As for the overdose, that also rarely happens that an anaesthisiologist was sniffing coke. Has it happened, yes. Does it happen everyday, every week or even every year. Doubtful. It happened once that you read. No need to condemn a whole profession of people because on person screwed up.
In short, the instances you listed are very rare cases that something happens. Tragic yes. Sue worthy some. But take in account that you are allowing yourself to be put in the hands of an individual who is human. Who has the capacity to make mistakes, maybe not often but it is in their ability just like you. You allowed them to treat you, I mean you could have gone home and walked it off but you went to them and asked them to help.
You also allow yourself to drive next to people on the highway. What if the manufacturer made a mistake and did not calculate properly the compression intesity of the disk brakes and someone is driving in a faulty car. They slam into you injuring your back. Was it the drivers fault or the car company? Who are you most likely gonna sue? Think anout it.
With the evolution of hardware and the constant expansion of code, software continues to drive the expansion of hardware. The costs of hardware for the performance received has drastically dropped. With all this that has happened in a relatively short time and the application of Moore's Law we will notice something.
Before I go on I will attempt to quote Bill Gates:
"No one will need more than 670KB of disk space."
Well we all know that was wrong. Right now my system contains 512MB of Ram, a 40GB HDD, an Athlon 1400 proc and a 128MB Radeon 9000. In 1997 my first computer contained a 133Mhz Pentium with 32MB of RAM, a 1.44GB HDD and a 1MB gfx card. Things have drastically changed.
Then again the windows 95 system the old computer ran only took up a footprint of 16MB. The current system I am running takes up 80MB. Nothing is running in the backround that is 3rd party on either of these systems. Now with the evolution of hardware and the growth of code to meet user needs and specifications in the market that computers are demanding.
Is it so hard to believe that a system will need 400MB of Memory to contain it?
This comes as no shock to myself since the standard system is continually receiving bigger numbers as we progress in years. Is it so hard to believe that in a few short years the standard speed of a computer will be around 100Ghz? Or that gfx cards will have 3GB of memory on board? Or that the standard system will have 8-10GB of memory and HDD's will be in the terabytes? All for a home end user.
I quote my dad when I showed him my laptop in 1997.
"Man that thing is blazing fast. Wow! I have never seen a computer run so quickly."
Now the thing is so sluggish by comparison of my current system that I would fear running any game other than MDK which at the time was resrouce hungry and now? Is frankly a joke. I think Mozilla takes up more memory than that game did.
400MB as a footprint on the ram doesn't even phase me. It seems that it is the proper direction for the evolution of computers to take. We have all seen it.
the people who conduct the frivolous lawsuits against doctors who really did nothing wrong? We seem to disregard that fact that countless people who are treated with nominal injuries get it in their head that they deserve a cut because the doctor was a little rude of squeezed their hand too hard. So hence forth they get a lawyer and sue the crap outta the doctor who did NOTHING wrong.
With the cost of malpractice insurance these days, it is no wonder there are more and more doctors run outta business because they cannot meet the cost to protect their own asses. Whoever said this blacklist was for those who deserved to sue?
Film will not being going the way of the Dinosaur for quite sometime. It still has many practical uses. Besides, though digital has caught up with 35mm... it is a long ways from competeing witht he image quality of medium format and large format.
I was just thinking about Apple and the G5 and how Virgina Tech put together the 3rd fastest Super Computer in the world for a relatively small price tag.
I think it is impressive how Apple Computers can out preform the open hardware competition. They kept it all in house and look...
OSX - 1100 Nodes.... 2200 processors.... 10 Tflops
Linux - 1152 Nodes.... 2304 processors.... half the preformance.
I think that says a lot about Apple as a company building quality products.
Slide Eleven [maybe]
Software
* Mac OSX
o Why not linux? Not enough support.
* Mellanox does Inifiniband drivers and HCA
* MPI (parallel communications libraries)
o Argonne National labs to get MPI-2 for the system
* C, C++ compilers - IBM xlc and gcc 3.3
* Fortran 95/90/77 Compilers - IBM xlf and NAGWare
Why work for a company you can't support. Doesn't show much honor there now does it. In fact I find it quite dishonorable that you would bash the product you work for.
I mean afterall you can keep food in your kids bellies just fine working for a Linux distribution or some other GPL based company. Granted I am sure your lifestyle will take a hit. Cna't drive your Lexus or pretty SUV anymore. Probably will have to start drving a metro to save on gas. Might have to move North of Everett to save on living costs to instead of living in the Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland area. God forbid you actually stand up for something you believe in. Just goes to show you how superficial people can be.
Well as I said before (before the flames begin) Linux will only be able to compete on the Server market for now. They don't stand a chance to take home-end users for sometime. Only company that stands a chance at that is Apple. (And we see how well they are doing)
Let us not forget that the Boston Red Sox actually won the world series in a sweep and everyone said they would never ever win a world series again.

Resistance is futile!!! We the collective of Microsoft will consume your computers.
Are ya sure OSX wouldn't be the Borg? After all they are the ones that come in cubes.

I will self admit I am addicted to coffee.
Day One:
Day Two:
1. All the same symptons but to a considerably lesser degree. Headache not so bad if not non-existant.
2. Cigarette smoking increased
Day Three:
Druggies have already proved they'll pay just about any price to feed their habit Care sharing your ideas on how to tax a druggie who gave a blowjob for some crack rock? Or gave their child for a week of heroine? I am dying to hear the details! ;)
Here's my proof It even comes with sources for you who like to disprove.
10 Tflops Linux - 1152 Nodes.... 2304 processors.... half the preformance.
I think that says a lot about Apple as a company building quality products.
Slide Eleven [maybe] Software * Mac OSX o Why not linux? Not enough support. * Mellanox does Inifiniband drivers and HCA * MPI (parallel communications libraries) o Argonne National labs to get MPI-2 for the system * C, C++ compilers - IBM xlc and gcc 3.3 * Fortran 95/90/77 Compilers - IBM xlf and NAGWare
