    I personally do not need a calendar, and I would stall any thunderbird upgrade if it ever contains one.
     
    Sleek, fast and trustworthy are a few keywords I put on the current thunderbird, and which is why I use it.
    If they have to do it, make it optional as a plugin or extension, as with every other major non-mail related feature.

    ...because he has a point that the machines will sell as sweet candy for the simple reason of consumers getting much for little money. This will in turn cause a major psychological effect which in turn will cause consumers to turn down likewise but more expensive products (pda's etc), and thus lead to a decrease in price for these products. It will be good for competition in the long run, and perhaps good for workplaces too if innovation ensues.

    ..that people applaud something like Mersenne's Prime or SETI when spare CPU cycles are concerned,
    but when an action to the benefit of everyone - namely checking up on the environment - is undertaken using the same technology that those same people start commenting on artificial climate change:
    "what about the power usage", "this will cause more rapid climate change" etc etc.
     
    Is it either that

    a. those people believe the climate WILL change through use of more computers ...

          1. but do not want to know about it

          2. and feel that any action towards proving it further is useless

    b. are in the climate-does-not-change-artificially group and will take any reason - even those undermining their own stance - to support it because....

          1. they do not want to know whether they are wrong

          2. feel that there is enough proof already that the environment is not changing

    Could anyone explain the logic behind the reasons A1-B2 ?

    In order to facilitate in cutting down on (name your favorite piece of mischief here), you acknowledge by reading this, that (name your favorite company here) reserves the right to peek your RAM, peek your harddrive or any other storage medium connected to your computer. This information will only be used to cut down on (name your favorite person that performs a piece of mischief here).

    For all it matters they could have said that when caught cheating, they own the house you live in.
    In my PC however, they do not have the right to dictate what their program wants to see.
    Anti-cheating software is, although noble in design, stepping on a turf that is already occupied by all the spyware we have seen lately.
    Every program that is spyware contains similar stuff like the above in their EULA, but that does not make it legal nor just.
    Apart from that, EULA's like this are not legally binding in most countries (!US), making their software seem even more questionable.

    ...I said pursue medical interest with caution. And I did put in the subject of retesting H-bombs above ground again for a reason: This is not ANY virus, this is a virus that killed of millions of people, our ancestors so to speak. You can test live viri, just stay clear of some of them.
    As a compromise: at least put forward your testing before a medical and ethical committee before you start your experiments...
    Being ignorant in experimenting with death is illogical.

    ... (no pun intended). What in earth can make scientists behave so irresponsible. They eliminated smallpox from almost all laboratories a few years ago to make sure it could never be used again. Now they are reviving an old virus that was completely eradicated. This does not make sense, other than for the nobel-prize signs in the scientists eyes (which they should not get).

    What if this secured facility gets compromised, an accident happens that leads to the infection of one of the staff, testtubes are improperly sterilized. I could name hundreds of things that could go wrong, and will not even start wildly speculating what would happen if 5HN1 somehow mutates with this virus.

    Ofcourse, I am not a biomedical researcher, but some common sense tells me one thing: don't start digging in shit if you can't stand the smell.
    I am in favor of medical progress, but recreating extinct live viri should be absolutely banned.

    Then again, this article is hugely outdated, as a simple wikipedia article tells us they recreated the virus in 2002 already. That leads to an even more doubtful stance on the exact reasons for creating this particular strain today...
    Maybe we should start detonating H-bombs above ground again to see if we can learn something new from that ?

    ..most people can't ever fly a car without some serious artificial intelligence built-in. I myself took quite a while for my drivers-licence in the Netherlands, were they do have very high standards + high costs for getting a licence.
    I am not pilot-stuff, so most likely am not really any good for a flying car, except as already stated - parked in someone else's home...

    Instead of focussing on the technology to get a car flying, why not focus on the technology to control an object safely in 3D, with hazard-avoidance built-in ? And while your at it, spend a little more time on the flying-technology itself and use hydrogen as a fuel-source: 'two flies in one swat'.
