  1. Maybe ... on Should Star Trek Die? · · Score: 1

When I think of Star Trek I remember the endless hours of watching the old series and TNG ... but with the newer series (DS9, Voyager ...) Star Trek seems to have lost its "trekkieness" ... in my eyes it has become something completely different - something i didn't enjoy in that special way as the old series.
Since then Star Trek has been dead for me and the only thing that reminded me of its existence were the new cinematic releases. Then I kind of remembered being a trekkie but a few days later I sort of forgotten it all over again.
I don't know if I'm the only one that feels this way but I think Star Trek sould cease to exist in the way it has existed tha last couple of years ... and return when it's ready.

  5. no incentive!! on Windows XP To Get Longhorn Technologies · · Score: 1

this is not about an incentive or a question of upgrading or not upgrading ... M$ is doing this because their bloated Longhorn will be out much later then anticipated ... And they are beginning to slowly feel their user's possible loss of "faithfulness" ... this is all just a marketing game to make the wait for Longhorn seem like a short while. But us /.ers know that XP was released in 2001 and Longhorn won't be out before the end of 2006.
Did any other "upgrade" (except for Duke Nukem Forever of course) take so long to develop?

  7. Valve shold look ahead on Halo 2 Direct-feed Multiplayer Video Released · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Without commenting how beautiful it all looks, I must say one thing. Valve should really consider making a GNU/Linux version of their new releases unless they want to remain in the stone age ... I mean ... if the linux community is good enough for running their game servers, which obviously helps them to fat cash, they should port the games to linux!

  8. Why??? on KDE Plans 'Google-like' Search Capabilities · · Score: 4, Insightful

That's the main question ... in my opinion features like this should be developed as close to the FS as possible ... And if they want to create something like this on a higher level (meaning FS independent and all that stuff ...) why not just create a simple GUI for locate? I mean it's clearly a similar indexing feature and IMHO the work involved shold rather be invested in future FS development ...
