  2. Theme constraints? on Blackbox (Finally) Updated · · Score: 1

I used to make themes for Enlightenment about five years ago, and lately I've been feeling like making themes again. However the WM landscape has changed a lot. Blackbox is awesome but it seems like the themes aren't very flexible - such as moving the close widget around, and such.

Of hand, does anyone know of a WM that's relaly easy to customize, but also very flexible?

Funny you should mention Hyperion because that's what I'm reading at the moment (Fall of Hyperion now, actually). My response to the cover was the same; my roommate gave me the book and I thought, "this is going to be good?" Of course it was and I am very happy I read it.

<geek tangent>Also the cover for Hyperion is inaccurate anyways - the Shrike has four arms. Why even bother to put it on the cover with only two?</geek>

As a graphic designer and artist myself I'm really surprised that anyone in my profession would create such poor covers. Where are these self-respecting "artists" creating such trash? I'm betting (hoping) that there is some sort of communication problem between management and the artist and that the person creating the cover hasn't actually read the book.

The three-part series dealing with the middle aged men showing up dead in bathtubs of apparent suicide was great. I won't spoil the ending but it was perfect, the twists along the way were truly shocking, and the good guys did not entirely win.

We may debate the validness of some of the science on the show (I take issue with many of their unpossible audio tricks) but story lines and twists like this trump some of the best we've seen on The X-Files.

Also, this question is ridiculous. There is no mention of platform requirements or speed, so I'm assuming that Python might be a real possibility.

Can anyone explain to me how AOL is changing their protocol without breaking their own IM? Is their client just more flexible, or does it have built in support for a dozen protocol revisions?

I would hope that whatever they're doing the clues as to what the next change might be are already there in the client. Perhaps we could build a fake ICQ server and run tests on the AOL client with slightly modified protocols to see what it supports. Then build in the same support into Trillian et al.

For me I'd love to stop using AOL's ICQ since I use OS X. The official client doesn't behave at all like a good OS X app should.

Wouldn't be the end of the entire vegetarian scene. To some people meat tastes bad in the same way some people don't like vegetables. There will always be some desirable health benefits to vegetarianism. Lab-grown meat may also introduce new health issues.

However, your idea of grown meat may have major benefit to people that already eat meat. Prices would likely drop since better cuts would be just as easy to produce and more common ones. Also the health of meat could probably improve (no more artificial hormones).

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious but this is good for several reasons. The one I'm most pleased with is the moral aspect. Assuming this is true we no longer need to farm embryonic humans for stem cells. We can gather them (and possibly in a superior form) from consenting adults.

This may also help compatibility. If there were any problems with a replacement organ for example then this would possibly lessen the chances of rejection.

Of course this still leaves moral controversy over what is done with these stem cells - I mean, that whole human cloning thing.

If I want my PC to play songs then I don't mind high bit rate MP3s. MP3s also have the advantage of working with everything. Especially on my Mac with iTunes.
