Aha! So Microsoft will eventually release a separate version of Windows 8 for desktop without Metro but full of bloat to slow down "obsolete" PCs and get the upgrade treadmill going again.
But please don't let facts get in the way of your anti-capitalist parade.
When you're offered an obscene amount of money for your property, you don't just blurt out a Yes or No. You consult with lawyers, accountants, CFAs/CFPs, etc. before making a decision.
In addition to that, it's no wonder they're going under (hey, it rhymed). Box offers NOTHING that Dropbox or Google Drive already do, and do it better.
The question posed in the summary is moot. It's obvious that, say for example, the Washington Post won't publish anything that upsets Bezos (like a favorable Nook review).
Paid-for journalism is nothing new. It's just been exacerbated by the rise of the WWW.
Whether or not the feature takes off however, will depend almost entirely on how willing users are to trust Facebook with their credit card data.
What additional harm could a 16-digit string cause when people happily and willingly furnish Facebook with their full name, sex, DOB, address, pictures, employer's name, former employer's name, school, friends' and relatives' names, hobbies, personal preferences, real-time location, etc.?
First, Apple releases a tiny 7" tablet, against Jobs recommendation when he was alive. Now they come up with a cheap iPhone, further eroding Aple's premium image.
I find this study to be extremely flawed, not to say elitist / racist.
Yes, rednecks who listen to country music and drink cheap beer and whisky like to have friends who are also rednecks who listen to country music and drink cheap beer and whisky.
If the study had been conducted with 2000 subjects from culturally diverse places, like NY or Tokyo, I'm sure the results would've been a lot diferent.
I was going to post AC, but fuck it, I got karma to burn...
Brin and Page were the ones who made a profitable search engine.
Henry Ford didn't invent the automobile (that award went to Karl Benz a few years earlier), but he was the first to make a fortune building automobiles.

Be careful what you wish for...
Wikipedia didn't post that picture because PETA would have a field day over it.
Groupon is worth US$6.86 billion right now. In hindsight, turning Google's offer down was a wise move.

Thankfully, the first few digits of my credit card are the same as a rather important USPTO patent #, so all Google results link to that.

Box is a cloud storage solution, like Dropbox or Google Drive.
I had never heard of them until Root File Manager (Android file manager) asked me to connect to it.
Seriously?????
What's next? A story about the great wonders of alternate current?
(including Edison vs Tesla flame wars, to boot)

They reason that Java is dyng because their iPhones and iPads don't support it.
I myself prefer GNU Ryu and GNU Ken, but a lot of people seem to do well with GNU Chun Li.
They probably don't want unopened boxes of 5.25" floppies.
They obviously want the uber rare stuff that fetch a few hundred bucks on eBay to give some stupid curator bragging rights.
Sorry, my hardware, my profit. Now flame away.
Do you have the slightest idea of what it takes to own 4.5% of a company like Microsoft if you're not:
- the founder
- a corporate fund (hedge, mutual, pension, etc.)
- an investment bank
- a government entity
News at 11.
Brand value != market cap

To each their own, dude!! I still use the Win95 Classic look on all my Windows PCs (Win7 and Win8). I disable all animations on my Android devices.
I hate anything that slows me down.
Inferno wasn't broken. It was intentionally made impossible unless you bought RMAH gear.
With the removal of RMAH, I assume Inferno difficulty will be adjusted as well.

What's next, sell iPhones at Walmart??
Then he wonders why Linux adoption rate on the desktop is nearly zero.
Any soccer mom reading this will think Linux is an OS developed by some 12-year-old dumbass, and will obviously refuse to use it..
Please mod up!! The title alone is worth a +5.
Agree 100%. I can't think of the pilgrims wanting to come back to Europe.
When everyone is moving from magnetic storage to solid state storage, Seagate is going against the tide.
Storage media with moving parts are bad enough for laptops, let alone tablets that get moved around a lot, dropped, sat on, etc.
If Seagate suits really want to see this thing fly, it'd be much more interesting to put these drives into laptop for some badass RAID arrays.
