  2. Ah... the Nobel Peace Prize on Edward Snowden Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize · · Score: 2

  3. Competition is always good on Samsung's First Tizen Smartphone Gets Leaked · · Score: 4, Interesting

Yes, I think Tizen will ultimately flop for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being the fact that Samsung will need to support THREE different operating systems.

But in the end, competition is always good for consumers. Bring it on!!

  4. Re:I'm calling the future of gaming on Blizzard Releases In-House Design Tools To Starcraft Modders · · Score: 1

This is pretty much how it used to be in the late 90s and early 00s, except for the online publishing part.

But then game companies realized that gamers wouldn't buy a new game if they could still play new free mods in the old one.

  10. Stick to what you know on Ask Slashdot: It's 2014 -- Which New Technologies Should I Learn? · · Score: 5, Insightful

You got 15 years experiene writing C code, good luck finding a "whiz kid" who can do it better than someone who's been doing it for that long.

You said it yourself, C isn't going away anytime soon. Stick to it as your bread and butter.

If you want to learn to program for Android/iOS, that's great, but do it as a hobby. Employers nowadays want 10 years experience on a tech that's only been available for 5 years (yes, it's that crazy), so by the time you get up to speed, the market will have already moved on to the next shiny thing.

You started with "It's 2014..." What will you do in 2025? Like I said, when it comes to your bread and butter, stick to what you know best.
