Hasn't this always been true, not just with web sites? There are millions of books in publication, but why is it that we only hear of or care about (probably) 2% of them? Because the good ones are popularised while the not-so-good ones get lost in the sea.
over the last 6-8 months there have been at -least- 1 article/month on *Ruby*
Well, if you look at this you'd see that if they *were* trying to pedal a certain language, it would probaly be perl, since perl stories average >1 a month.
And, to further insult the player, they made the continue code 'ABBA'
I always thought it was funny that the code was printed INSIDE the manual that came with the game! It's like they realized how badly they screwed up in terms of balance and obscene difficulty in the game, so they thought they'd patch things up by including the code.
Have you really done this? I really want to pick up one of these babies, but the documentation and the projects currently out on the web are having trouble convincing me that you can develop REAL, QUALITY games on one. I want FULL access to the sound system, the graphics system, the controller, etc., but I don't think there's anything that mature yet... anyone know?
in comparison with the XBox, the PS2 is a pile of crap.
Say what? Pile of crap is really strong. If it was all about graphics capability, the N64 would have won over PS1, but as we all know that was not the case: it was about games, and the PS had more quality, though not as pretty, titles.
Secondly, when I saw Halo for the first time, instead of "wow, cool graphics" I thought "wow, DirectX." Maybe I'm alone on this, but I don't like how directX games look... and yes, you CAN tell a difference. The graphics in say, MGS2, look WAY nicer, smoother, crisper than Halo, at least to me.
Not only is the PS2 inferior to both the XBox and the Gamecube
Huh? A) It was out a year before, and B) it's never been about what your console CAN do (performance specs), but about what it DOES do (quality of games).
never has there been a game console with such a high volume of crap games compared to excellent games.
Can't you attribute that to many, many more developers/games for the ps2? There will be more crap games if you have hundreds more to gauge them against (and likewise for great games).
Meanwhile the Bush admin. has declared that it will unilaterally withdraw from any agreements it finds to be inconvenient - including biggies like the ABM treaty.
I say we have Superman throw all ballistic missiles at the sun.
Trolltech's whole angle has been to make money on the windows ports of their Qt library, and now these guys go and port the free *nix version to windows. Luckily, it doesn't look like a "real" port; you still have to jump through cygwin and other bull shit hoops, but I'd bet the Trolltech guys are starting to worry now...
As long as they equip the machines with Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Oregon Trail, and Number Munchers, everything should be golden.
Ahhh, memories...

So.... can we wrap one of these around the sun?
The guy in the top left is looking at porn!

See you at the crossroads...
Everyone who likes video games wants the PS2, and will buy the PS2 in preference to anything else.
Damn! I bought a GC! And here I thought I liked video games!!
If I return it, can I like video games again? Will I have your respect if I buy a PS2!?
jackass...
As if I didn't have enough to do with MGS2, Super Monkey Ball, and $50 dreamcasts with dirt cheap games... now this.
And Final Fantasy X just around the corner...
just haven't been able to catch our attention as well as DOA3
It catches my attention too.
You should have gotten Super Monkey Ball
I second that. Amazingly addictive, difficult (easy games suck), and fun.
Want to run Linux?

Umm.. dude, this is slashdot...

Sonicblue's DVRs range from $700 to $2,000, depending on the size of the hard drive, which can hold 40 hours to 320 hours of programming.
Ya... exactly which hard drive costs over $1,000?

Thanks for saving me the hassle of watching that shitty show! The host's bitchiness got old after about half an episode.
Not two weeks ago I wrote our (CA's) attorney general, supporting his decision to not settle...
I am cuter than you.
I seriously doubt that!
When can I plug in to the Matrix?

MRE also stands for "meal ready to eat", ie, field rations. Now they want to call this training Mission Rehearsal Exercise...
Would anyone else kill to be making games for a living?
