Well for the DB related questions mostly because it's IBM. Why would IBM use Oracle or mysql? Essentially they are eating their own dog food. As for the last question, IBM might not server the pictures, but about 1000000 other websites are.
Looks like on2 and their vp6.2 codec didn't make the cut. I guess they could still implement a codec based on the open standards . Time will tell, but MS is positioning itself out of the PC world and into the DRM revenue one.
Perhaps Directv is backing off a bit now that they have ended/replaced the easily hackable older cards (h and hu/p3 cards). I'm sure that once the newer cards are hacked and these hacked cards fall into the hands of signal stealers, Directv will become more offensive minded again.
No kidding...last time SCO needed to produce a bunch of evidence, they failed ot do so or were late because they were on Christmas vacation. Now with summer and all, I suspect they'll claim that the weather is just too nice to deal with the judge's demands.
participate in the manufacture, importation, sale, or any other act that makes available a device or system capable of decrypting or helping to decrypt an encrypted program-carrying signal
WMD to soon mean Weapons of Mass Decryption based on this "treaty".
my fear of heights and for two my lack of suction cup tipped fingers.
And seriously for 3, it's the stupid license model. I buy an OS for family/non-commerical use and I can only install it on one machine. No thanks, even Apple allows for a family license; sure they still charge you, but at least they give you some break. Maybe MS has changed their stance on this, but I doubt it.
And for 4, I do a serious HW upgrade about every 12-18 months and I'm expected to re-activate. I've heard the MS has made it possible to do this with out a lot of effort, but the fact that any is required or expected of me at all really turns me off from their product(s)
Right on...as a proud graduate I can confirm that the link is for the wrong Florida Tech. Florida Institute of Technology (fit as it was called although probably too often confused with the Fashion Institute of Technology hence the name change to Florida Tech) usually prefers those "concrete canoe" type of events
Well if he does have Hansen's Disease, he can always move to Hawaii Molokai
BTW, if you ever do go to Hawaii, try to plan single day on that island...very interesting place. There is a guided mule ride down the seacliffs to the village where the "Lepers" were forced to live.
Dammit, I have coders block on my real project, but I can see how the RIAA may make use of java on the desktop. I hope everyone will now see the danger of java on the desktop and its integration

How about you beef them up on the front and use them as part of some humn a bowling ball device. Maybe protect the driver in some sort of giant plastic hasmter wheel and then have the contestants drive into 10 ft (around 3+ meter) heigh pins. Make a couple of the pins exploding and you got a nice spring break event. Of course as the SF hit and run article shows, who needs pins when you got people.

The show made me hurt with laughter so many times while the wife looked at me like I'm an ID10T. Well maybe I am, but the show made it clear why you shouldn't use GOTO statements.
and I will have to turn on the "Check Engine" light.
"Do what you damn well please Kit, but keep that David Hasselhoff 8-track a-playing, cause I need some good cruise tunes. Oh, and if you do feel the urge to turn on that light, remember when you asked why do we need a tire iron when I can fix the wheels myself? Well I'll show you!!!"
Fire off a nice bright flare in the movie and watch all the ushers walk around bumping into walls and tripping over half empty popcorn buckets (the size of 10 gallon hats) as they are temporary blinded. You may not be welcomed back, but that would be something worth watching.
You would think that the money grubbing companies would have found a new business model. Allow people to "buy" copies from recorded DRM material. Now by allowing "buying", the companies would have to do something smarter than just turn off DRM since once a non-DRM copy got out, well the cat's out of the bag. So maybe an unique user id code is embedded so a copy that is illegally distributed can be traced back to the source. Of course, I sure someone could come up with a way circumvent that as well.
The bottom line being that if there was a way to provide legitimate copies to people for a reasonable price, people would pay (look at iTunes). Want to get additional revenue, then charge a buck more to allow people to get copies sans commericials/ads.

So something about that just doesn't add up to you?
Right on...great point....now, do you reuse the tape once the material is archived or do you archive the tape as well....just wondering

Damn those Linux programmers, if we just had Windows virus/worm writers to worry about, the world would be a much safer place.
WindowsTomorrow? I guess it's kinda like Burger ads in McDonalds or Toyota ads in BMW's show room, but still sounds like sour grapes to me

Otherwise just frag her and wait for a new one to respawn---but be nice, no spawn killing

Where are the GPS cooridinates?
Some more historic information on the formation of Springfield.
They have gas-battery powered cars, so how about gas-battery powered laptops? And for the long airline lights just make sure it can handle jetfuel.
It's too bad nobody has found an effective way to "resuse" the heat generated by laptops to recharge the batteries.
Maybe we'll come full circle and have wind-up laptops; as your laptop starts slowing down, just wind it up.
