I got a Gateway M505. It's no desktop replacement, and only has a Mobility 9600 with 64MB, but it play RTCW with no problems. Then again, I got it to do work while on the road. Sure it could use a faster HD, but it was $2000.
I've done both as well and don't agree with the conclusions mentioned in the parent. C# is not a lot better than Java, in fact I think it's the other way around, epxecially once you get the expanded feature set in j2sdk1.5 as far server side development is concerned (I'll give C# the nod for GUI apps, but then again you're mostly limited to Windows without the aid of mono, et al. SWT comes close but the native Windows LnF is still better IMHO).
I've never seen either one be that much faster or slower than the other. You just need to know the best way to work which each one.
Where C# is better is when you are developing C# apps or native Window apps. The way C# doesn't handle exceptions (or force the programmer to) makes it dangerous in the hands of nascent programmers, but then again much people aren't surprised anymore when a Windows app crashes.
Where Java is better is when you are developing Java apps.
Both languages are just different types of hammers. Pick the hammer you can swing (no pun intended on the java side) the best and pound that nail in on time and within budget....now you've used the best language.
just have Janet Jackon do a "half-time" concert at the next major Windows conference. The promoters may even get Balmer to play the part of Timberlake.
As in an LLC/S-Corp/C-Corp? Does the contract prohibit you from working for another company (i.e your own company)? Have the company you own (i.e. you) right a work agreement that any inventions "you" come up with are property of your company as long as they are related to your business. This way if you are allowed to work for both companies you can claim that the other company (your company) already has an agreement as such so that only inventions relevant to the second company could be considered their IP. Just a thought...like other people said, HAL
Corps and special interest groups donate millions and millions of dollars to the people we elect. The only time we matter is on those special Tuesday when we get to vote. After that, it's show me the money and elected offical will do their best to screw over those people who got them where they are in the first place if the price is right.
So if a US programmer charges $100/hr, and Indian $10/hr and charges $1/hr, do Indian comapines find themelves outsourcing to other countries (i.e. China, Russia?)
Since when was the RIAA "the Law" Oh yeah, when they decided that they could chase down 12 yr olds. Has the RIAA even filed a "criminal" suit or have all their efforts just been civil suits?
Still good to show actions/consequences (as pointed out before, download music, get in a SB ad)
get it right after all the first two worlds has been throught with MS products. Then again, maybe McBride is in the 3rd world as we speak preaching the evils of the GPL. Here's to the the 4th world!
I think it gets the point across that what they are requesting is a waste of time (in his and most of our opinions anyway) until the other legal matters are sorted out and SCO produces proof to their claim. He clearly laid out his demands for proof and doesn't want a "because we said so letter".
told the RIAA that there were GOPs sharing music in Senate. That would have gotten them all sued and surely lead to a decline of unshared online documents.
It is believed that the Gops used a new p2p network called "Democrapster"
96% accurate huh? Well, I'll just point my lie detector glasses at your lie detector glasses and see if your glasses are really telling the truth.
And all this coming from V-Entertainment. Well entertainment is right...they probably just tested these things against 100 SCO employees and asked them if they had any evidence. The 4 that were marked inaccurate really did have evidence but to the contrary.
it has wings :)

No wonder he doesn't like the sound of C# tools on other platforms. Imagine "free" MS apps on Linux

and now it's managed to even leak the 'Net' Any takers that we find SCO copyrighted code in it?
I want to know when they can start cloning aliens....you know, like the ones we got from Roswell

the Fat Lady isn't getting ready to sing. It's nice to see a smaller player produce a quality product

McDonald's reports that its new "Honeymooner" happy meal will be cancelled due to legal threats from SCO.

As much as I welcome this news, I look much more forward to SCO rc 1 codenamed "McBride"...in about 10-15 yrs pending good behavior (stable?)
I thought the 60+ pages were all links to /. SCO stories and when they got to the page that said "Evidence" it just showed 404
It appears that code isn't the only thing subject to re-writes. Time to opensource SW and let's make 1000 different versions of it.
