It's still not an open format though. If I want to create program to read some sort of desktop publishing document on a new OS then I would have to hack at the MS DOC format to get it to work on my new OS, whereas if I use an open format I have the specification right in front of me.
I don't believe it was the 3% that upset the people in Boston. If my memory of History class serves me right, it was the "Taxation without representation" part that got their panties in a bunch.
It's quite sad that we actually acknowledge these people as "bloggers" like it's a respected term. It's not a true form of nerd to be a blogger. More than 85% of them are people with a $300 eMachine running Windows ME. It's just sad.
You know, it's quite sad that we refer to these people called "bloggers". They're not a real form of nerd. More than 85% of them are just idiots with a $400 PC running on Windows ME.
Since your game is subscribtion based, do you think you'll feel a lot of heat from games like Guild Wars who aren't charging a monthly fee to play the game?
(My personal thought is that you won't simply because a person could by both games and only pay for one. I know the reason I don't play WoW is because I would feel guilty by not playing because I know I dropped a good amount of money so I could play that month!)
And make sure you do RTFA because it says that Support for Netscape 7.2, Firefox 1.0.3, and Mozilla 1.7.7 is planned but will not be available when preregistration goes into effect. Present users of these browsers may experience problems when filing claims. Meaning this is a temporary problem, albiet a needless one.
Obviously your PC manufacturer sucks.;) Ever since Windows 2000 (I now have my Windows box on XP) My computer has not crashed save for once when I hacked my video card. Mind you third party applications have and some of my own making, but I have not seen Windows crash since the days of 98.
As far as malware/spyware goes... the moment that Apple's OS would become the leader in the OS market (that's a big IF) I guarantee you would start seeing ads popping up on the desktop and viruses plauging their networks. You can't tell me that Linux is a superior OS because it doesn't crash and doesn't have spyware. It's a superior OS for other reasons.
Industries write software for what is popular and will make them money. Right now that happens to be Windows and there happens to be a lot of people who write crappy applications.
All of these companies have document retention policies and this includes digital files (as well as email!), but most digital files are stored on hard copy anyway. An employee could lose his job for deleting or destroying a file outside of normal document retention policies.
In general it is more advantageous to keep files for a short while because it saves headaches of getting that information from a person if the company is involved in a court battle.
On the same point the Scalable Link Interface actualy is not a direct 50/50 ratio of top and bottom. It's more like 60/40 since sky is taking up the top half of your screen in most games and does not take much to render compared to a complex landscape.
I think that it's more the difference on the college and the program you are in. A community college will not open you're mind nearly as much as a large private or public university would. As well, majoring in "Communications" or "Business" is much different than Bio-Chemical Engineering.
Ahh! But there are things in politics that relate to nerdy things and technology. For instance, all of the voting machines in California. Nerdy, yet political in some aspects.
"Web publishers should get together to set up a one-stop registration process for everybody. We sign up once and would be done with it."
That's what Microsoft has been trying to do with.NET passports for a long time. We see how well that flew.
People are still going to fake the information too.
Also, isn't it kind of obvious that these sites want your information for advertising/money purposes? I mean, it might be handy to know who your audience is, but it's not a large enough issue to lock out your audience by requiring registration.
the only reason nuclear power plants are so big right now anyway is because of all the backup systems and coolants in case something does happen, so a meltdown won't occur. and c'mon, as much as we're afraid of nuclear waste, it's not as bad as smog.

The difference being that the Microsoft Word reader only runs in WINDOWS, so someone using a different OS may not have access to it.

It will pass? Doubful. Fanatacism has always been around and will always be around.

I've never heard of a SPITstorm before and it seems Google hasn't either.
Also consider that the PS3 will play all the games you loves on PS original and the PS2.
I beleive Nintendo is doing that with their new console as well.
If it's anti-gay, then it is anti-beastiality too.

Does anyone know if this thing will work with Linux? But can it run Half-Life 2?
Securitey, it's like 'Security' but with an extra 'e' for effort!
Direct Blog Post [google.com] link to Google's hiring campaign market thingy. Ya.

What do they think they're going to improve by creating a new game? They still don't have all of the bugs worked out of the current neverwinter!

not as bad as smog to dispose of ^_~
OH no! Little Johnny accidentally bought 5,000 songs on the home stereo. There goes his college education.

Great just great. Let all the space-aliens control our busness. Pah.
