Why do we keep seeing this being reported incorrectly by security "professionals"? Using SMS has always been two STEP, not two factor. You need to use the correct words describing a system if you are going to rag on that system.

  10. Re:New to me on Google Health's Lifeline Runs Out · · Score: 4, Interesting

When I was working for a pharmacy chain back in 2007/08ish, and I got to see a presentation on Google Heath at a conference. Our software provider was partnering with Google to import all your prescription information into Google Health in real time. At the time the idea of being able to have several different pharmacies, doctor offices, and hospitals put your information into a central "electronic health record" was being pushed by Obama's campaign to lower health care costs and save lives. There was money to be had.

Of course this would be an extremely valuable service for Google, but medical industry is very powerful and clouded by federal laws. As we move forward, electronic health records are still right around the corner and someone will make all the money. I doubt there will be more then one private entity storing your data, but then again it could be like Medicare D and you have to choose from 20+ companies.

(By the way, the presentation on Google Health was the best and most professional presentation I've ever seen. They hire pros for real.)

I worked for UHG(united health group) as a contractor for there helpdesk. They would log our times via the phone and they would say we needed to be ready to take a phone call at 8am. Well, that means you _need_ to be there 15 minutes ahead of your start time just to get the computer going. And its not just "booting" but also getting all the applications started to take a phone call. I need to get my email going, ticket software, terminals to systems, firefox with gmail and slashdot, and many more apps. This was something we would get scolded on because the manger did nothing but look at our times that we logged in to take calls, not when we were at work. I am glad someone stood up to these people. They are a heartless insurance company with greedy executives. Remove the overhead from the insurance companies and they could pay for all our medical needs with out all the hassle.
