Nah, it is true that we old farts worry about such things, but still play games. Not as often, or as long (as with other "activities") unfortunately.

It's a good thing I still demand my paychecks printed on a piece of paper in an envelope I can carry to the bank myself.

My question would be if it isnt handling payroll/hr as it should be, Is what printed out on a paper check what it should be? The company that does our payroll uses peoplesoft and I check the direct deposit statement very carefully every pay period.

Also, I would think that any additional expense of the cable company to put this in place (system upgrades, development etc) would be approved by the local board of utilities to pass through as a rate change. There might be some legislative delay in when those higher rates might come into effect, but we (ie subscribers) will wind up paying the same, or more.

In the movie (and the book), Gandalf told a moth to fetch Gwaihir.

I dont recall the moth in the book. IIRC, when Gandalf was sent to Orthanc by Radagast (who was duped into tricking Gandalf by Saruman), he asked Radagast to send messages to Orthanc via birds, eagles, etc. Gandalf happened to catch Gwaihir on his way to deliver a message.

The smoke/ozone smell quickly permeated the area and the scorch marks told the whole story. They gave me another one with no questions.
To be fair. The replacement worked fine for several years until I gave it away.
