Usually framing of other peoples content for your site is also concidered to be strictly not okay and google is doing exactly that with their image search.
What I have been thinking a lot is what would happen if someone (someone like me) would create an algorithm that would combine lots and lots of news from various sources and stitch them into one story that has parts from other stories but would be written 100% by algorithms.
This is what many newspaper reporters do, is it more illegal to do with algorithms than by manual work?
(Yes, I run a news aggregator so I have my own agenda here)
I have googles ads on some sites. The biggest problem with them is that they are ugly and cannot be integrated into site layout and I guess some people don't even read them because of the ugly layout.
Another thing I would like to see is what the actual profit share percentage is but that's another story...
Okay, what I really meant that he should be penalized for this, he clearly did know what he was doing. It really doesn't matter if the security company overbilled IBM or not, he absolutely did knew what he was doing and should carry the consequences.
This isn't cold fusion, it's just a sneaky way of achieving hot fusion without huge x-ray lasers and giant magnets and such.
Taleyarkhan himself calls it "sonofusion".
There was a documentary about this some time ago in television about Taleyarkhans previous claim of same issue in 2002 (I think it by BBC) and the scientists who studied the results, didn't find the cold fusion that Taleyarkhan claimed when they reproduced the demo. So I'm a little bit sceptical.
If this however would be true, it would be the holy grail of todays science so I'm really looking forward for the results.
Just a speculative thought because no one really know about googles algorithms.
The result may be due to the original pages higher pagerank. I wouldn't be surprised if google would give higher position to "better" sites even in ads. In Googles context, higher pagerank means "better" site.
That's absolutely incorrect. RIAA has nothing to do with allofmp3 (hint: RIAA is an american institution). Please see this page page for more information.

Russian copyright legislation allows phonograms to be performed publicly without the authorization of the copyright owner for broadcasting and cable transmission. (Article 39) The Internet could be deemed to fall under this exemption. The copyrights involved have to be paid to a collecting society. This is the 'loophole' that is referred to in several articles on Allofmp3.
It's microsoft. I really doubt they will offer anything else than Windows media. And if they want to get big labels interested, there must also be some kind of DRM included.
AllOfMp3 can do what it does only because the russian laws are a bit fuzzy about selling music on the internet.
If I remember correctly, in some countries (all countries?) buying music from allofmp3 is legally the same as downloading content from p2p networks.
The customer information that is in these databases is worth a LOT of money. They certainly do not give it to their competitors, they might SELL it for very large sums but they will never, ever, ever share it voluntarily without very large compensation.
To be honest, I think that is quite a valid question. I even suspect that they have this covered by one of their patents or they have a patent pending for this. It just seems to be the way Amazon works.
Usually you need to be in top of food chain of your population in order to be able to spend your time (let's say couple of hundred or thousand years) studying about things like space travel. That requires you to have means of destroying hostile, bigger than you predators or they will kill you before you can invent anything.
Aliens trying to take advantage of us and our resources seems much more likely than simple trying to wipe us out.
Interesting question - would a race of beings / being capable of interstellar travel have anything to learn from us as a species?
Even if you can't (or don't) want to learn anything, slaves are always a good thing to have. Especially if they are of "lesser race" so they can be killed or tortured without any guilt if they don't obey you.
Forget fusion weapons. They'd not need more than a few stray rocks large enough to survive atmospheric friction. Boom, boom, boom. End of human civilization.
Exactly. If the US has a weapons station at the moon, how about shooting it down from the orbit.
The situation is so similar to the one with indians (in both north and south america) and european conquerors that it is really scary. Indians never knew anything about other more advanced civilizations on the other side of the sea and when they arrived, they welcomed them as gods in south america and tried to fight with them in north. Look what happened.

Isn't it quite obvious that he should go to jail for this?
The slashdot decided to cut the url incorrectly when usin href so here it is again:m

Is there a link missing or am I blind?
Ok I was a bit too hasty, this seems to be another application of theirs.
Ok, the site is totally dead. Here is a
- link to another site that distributes it and
- some screenshots.
Enjoy!
6-8 MB? Just take a look how big installer packets are today, 6-8MB is absolutely nothing.
If your goverment orders a law that sais they must be able to read your emails, you comply or go to jail.
It doesn't help at all to have a secure system because they are inside it.
Does it still crash often? That is my worst fear if I would get the 360.
Another new feature that at least I haven't seen previously are the reviews, is this something new or have they been there before?

I think there has been at least one made by FTC before this one.
